8.

DCTF Pick Region III Montgomery vs. Vidor, 7:30 Friday at Aldine’s Thorne Stadium Montgomery has been a bit of a forgotten man this year, as its two losses kept it out of the rankings for long stretches and its placement kept it a step behind Brenham in the regional consciousness. But consider that RB Tevin House is still one of the region's top rushers, QB Ty Talifero is as accurate as anyone in Class 4A, and the defense almost gobbled up the aforementioned Cubs in district play — a 14-7 loss that's a closer game than anyone else has given Brenham. Vidor, however, will need to win with defense — lots of it. Vidor runs the ball pretty well, but if it falls behind, I'm not sure it wants to throw into the Montgomery secondary/DL to catch back up. Its defense has to keep it close enough to allow the running game to work. Travis' pick: Montgomery 31, Vidor 21
We are use to being the underdog....
Yep, we sure are Coach! Our team reminds me of a Chihuahua that goes out everyweek fighting like a PitBull that hasn't eaten in weeks!! Our Pirates will eat some Bear tonight, no doubt! ;)
 9. IT'S HUNTING SEASON SO LET'S EAT SOME BEAR!! [move] LET'S GO PIRATES, LET'S GO!!!!![/move]

I couldn't get out of Baytown in time.
it went pretty good..... there are vids on KFDM and KBTV 4
I'm working with some parents of kids who play for several of the Baytown area schools. We've gained a lot of respect over here, believe it or not. They're really big on Jeff and his coaching abilities.
Awesome.... Now if we can just keep him :-D and not have our school board pull a Crosby!!
Jeff's the third highest paid coach in our area, married to a Vidorian with children in the school district. If Bridge City couldn't pry him from us, I'm not sure anyone can unless they came up with 5A class money from a much larger district. Even then, I think he really loves our community and likes the notoriety he has. Something happens to Jeff and I believe some school board members here would lose their jobs quick, fast and in a hurry....
If he was about more money, I don't think he would be in Vidor now. I have met him a couple of times and he seems to be more into family and establishing his place within a community. I think that is why he is loved so much in Vidor. Not for his football record but for who he is and how he influences the kids around him in a positive way.
Trust me, Jeff isn't going anywhere.  I have known him since he first came to Vidor under Pat Murphy.  He loves our Vidor Pirates and we all love him!!!
 11.
We Love You! We Love You! We Love You........And that is why we Follow, we Follow, we Follow.....Because we are the Pirates, the Pirates, the Pirates.....And that is how We Like it, we like it, we like it.......Woooaaa.....oh I guess you already know the rest. Seriously, we are close to having enough people joining in to where the other team will hear it ringing in their ears.  It would be so much fun if the Opposing Team fans went home with that tune in their head....the way I come home from PNG with Cherokee Nation in mine.  :D
Love it even more now that I know all the words!!!! We need a jumbotron so the words can scroll across it during the games!! Thx for posting all the words!!!!
Lol.  That's funny...  Thanks for your support, and you better believe me and my green shoes, will be rooting for Montgomery and the rest of 17-4A!  Like I said earlier, I wanna meet up with a couple of Vidor people and check out the atmosphere their fans provide.  If they have a problem with a football-crazed Cub fan standing up and yelling for the Bears, then thats too bad, cuz it's gonna happen.  Good luck Friday!
So , you will be sitting on Vidors side and you will be pulling for Montgomery . Seriously thats Not a good idea !  Probably will get punched . Just saying
There's that Vidor hospitality that I've heard about.....  Y'all wonder why people stereotype y'all....  We'll that sure doesn't help...  Anyways, I'll be there and my green, so I won't be hard to find.  If you or anybody else has a problem with it, and wants to "punch" me, I'll see you after the game.  This doesn't apply to the Vidor people who have been cool with me.
You will not have problems with anybody on our side of the field.  Obviously, you have a few people/fans everywhere, in every city, that speak before they think and this is a prime example.  You will have a blast on our side!  The entire crowd gets into the game.  Just wait until you hear the LaPray and Packards song!!  Everybody starts singing the only part they know........OHHHHHHHHHH, OOOOHHHOOHOOOOOO!!! [move] GO PIRATES!!! [/move]

LOL

The only people that deserve any type of explanation or anything else for that matter is the family of Matt Thomas. This thread should not have even started. Speculation and assumption are both beasts that run wild!! Rip Matt
Well said. I have to agree with you. Not sure this thread should have been started. Prayers to the family.
I get the point but it is in the local news and this is a discussion board and that is what people do. Again I have lost someone close to me way too early with no clear explanation and it was all over the news for weeks. It is tough to deal and hopefully his family can find som epeace.
It is in the local news but it really doesn't need to be speculated about on the board IMO. At some point there will be something said that will offend someone and it will go down hill from there.
Exactly.  As the news medias have already posted this info to FB and all I can do is read the comments that people have made.  I am not even related to Matt and I pray to God that none of his family reads those things.  These days and times it seems as if nobody has respect for anything/anybody.  This is such a tragic accident and I pray for the family of Matt Thomas that someday, somehow they find peace, healing and comfort.

A bunch of grown adults want to get on here and whine about their rights to not have to listen to a prayer when the majority of the high school kids take it upon themselves to stand up and do it on their own before each game! I know for a fact that our players & cheerleaders pray before the games and I am pretty sure the Inidanettes do as well! Maybe we should all sit back and look at the example these kids are setting!
Very good point!
I couldn't agree more!!! Rephrase - I didn't read the post in its entirety. I'm all for praying wherever you want. But when you have somebody who is praying for YOUR kids safety and YOUR commute to and from the game then what is the big deal???? We as a nation have become extremely weak. There is no backbone anymore and if you pray over a PA system and piss 20 ppl off but the other 5K are glad that you are praying for everyones safety then oh well. It seems prayer has turned into more of a "convenience" for people when they are in a desperate situation.
Maybe I wasn't completely clear either :) I am all for saying a prayer over the speaker at the game! I was saying that the kids are setting a better example than we are by stopping on the field taking a knee and bowing their heads in prayer because they want to and they don't care if it offends people!
OK....yep, I agree with you then! LOL  ;)

Last time I checked, the Pirates were far from that.  Tell ya what, these "sissies" will help you guys cry a river so you can just float back to Montgomery after the game Friday night because the tears will make it hard for you to drive home.  I love the fact that EVERY week the opposing team seems to think the Pirates are nothing more than a push over and every week our boys prove you wrong. 22. And just a side note, at the end of  our awesome prayer at our awesome football games with our thousands of AWESOME Pirate fans, its awesome to hear the thousands of fans join together and say AMEN together!!!!!!  ;D

I just couldn't resist!!! Anyways, your 17-4A winning streak will end at the hands of 20-4A. ;) You can wait to say "thank you 20-4A" LOL
 25. As a Pirate, I am very glad that our school continues to pray before each game.  Every week the prayers are directed toward keeping the players safe and for everyone attending to have a safe trip home.
