1. I know for a fact that VISD sent an abundance of tickets to NISD.  This is an issue you need to take up with your own school district and not try to drag another school district thru the mud based on your personal assumptions.
 2.

I was curious so I looked into the UIL Rules and did not see anything about the Home team not allowed to sit on Visitors side the following is the only thing listed in reference to seating. (1) Seating. The visiting team has the right to demand one-half of the stadium seats in relation to the 50-yard line in all League football contests, whether district games, non-district games or playoff games, unless mutually agreed otherwise by the two schools involved. A visiting team can demand one half of the reserved seats. A visiting team has a right to split the stadium in relation to the fifty yard line, subject to the end zone situation being equal, unless mutually agreeable otherwise
I was just looking at that jmoore.....I believe a team can make a rule for their field or a district could make a rule for their schools but I cannot find anywhere in the UIL handbook that says it is a UIL rule
I wouldn't be surprised if a school or district made a rule along those lines to keep altercations/incidents from happening. Makes sense, until the home side is sold out playing against an opponent that doesn't travel well or have much support.
I may have the district rules and UIL rules crossed.  Years and years ago during Vidor's homecoming games only could Vidor sit on the visiting teams side due to over flow.  However, the district does not allow the home team to sit on the visitors side any longer.  They haven't for years.

All I can tell you is get there early if you want to wait in line for a ticket and bring a cooler of drinks and food.
We play you guys for homecoming.  There will be some ticked off Pirate fans come this game too because I know that almost all of the home side has been sold already.  There isn't hardly any season tickets left with the exception of one seat here and there and the gen admin tickets are pretty much gone too.
I always hought that the visiting team got the visiting seating allotment......if they were not sold by a certain day the remaining tickets were returned to the home team to then be sold. I know this isn't a rule but usually adhered to unspoken rule
It's against UIL rules for the two teams to sit together.

 5.
We didnt even get enough Vidor tickets for our season ticket holders...They told us Vidor only sent 500 but that we could buy them the week of the game. Dont think it was done out of spite or anything...maybe they didnt have enough ready.
I think Ned and PNG are the only two teams that can buy away game season tickets.  I know we can't, they do not go on sale for away games until the week of for Pirate fans.
Yes it was!!!  My family didn't know what to do on a Friday night without a football game!!!
Should have come and mingled with us PN-G folks at the Pecan Festival. I saw several Bulldog and Pirate people.
Aw man, I actually forgot that was this past weekend!!
 7. For one, it's against UIL rules to allow teams to sit with each other.  Back in the day, Vidor fans would sit on the visitor side during homecoming because our side is always packed.  However, you don't see that anymore.  I doubt that Vidor only sent 10 tickets to Ned though.  What would we care if Ned's side was full??  It's going to be full regardless if you buy a ticket early or the day of.  Thank god for season tickets though!!!

 9. Mathews has been at Vidor since the 90's, can't recall the exact year.  When the Head Coach position came open a lot of people in Vidor wanted Mathews to take the position but the Board thought otherwise.  My family along with a lot of other parents/fans, stayed at the Admin bldg for several hours and it was late into the night when the board finally made the decision to make him the HC.
 10.
Pirategirl should the Bulldogs lose next Friday there very well may be some Nederland fans make excuses for the loss, but just remember it was pirate fans last year who made excuses, you had players hurt, No. 9 for the dogs made a lucky catch on 4th down, and their were snide remarks that we bought the Refs. all these remarks were on this board last year. Just sayin
Well, as with any team and their fans, some feel the need to make excuses.  If anybody found one team that lost and not a soul made an excuse, I would give you $100.  As for me, IF my Pirates were to lose next Friday, I would be the first to congratulate the Dogs on a game will played and win well deserved.
 11.

As pirate girl mentioned the 4th down pass play makes me ask this question. If 2 defenders could not stop that play on 4th down to save the win how will they be able to stop the pass attack this year? Raines more accurate, Kimler,Shaw, Barrows more experienced and multiple tight ends are going to make that even tougher.
That twenty yard pass was a big chunk of the 91 yards that Raines had that game. Kinda low considering his yards per game is 120 passing yards. Plus you gotta remember that 8 out of 11 of our defense starters are back and a year better and a year bigger and more experienced which should make it even more difficult for your offense to move on us.  8)
Raines may be more accurate this year, but our boys are much better as a whole this year.  They are looking very good and you pretty much have the same match up as we all saw last year in the Vidor/Ned game and look how close it was.  People predicting Ned by 2 TD's is absurd!  Controling the ball is going to play a major factor for both teams and I think it comes down to a game that less than 20 points by each team are scored and the winner (Vidor) wins by three.  ;)
 12.
Honestly since i haven't ever had to try and win against the pirates at the boneyard i would have to say png stadium. For some reason that stadium just gives us bad luck.
I would have to agree with that!!  The Reservation is always a hard place to get a win at.  I think that little Indian puts a voodoo spell on the field when he dances across it before the game and during halftime.
 13. Another great article!  I remember sitting in the stands with less than a minute to play in the 4th qtr and when Ned's QB hurled the ball in the air it seemed as if the seconds on the clock were ticking so slow and the ball was spiraling in slow motion.  When they caught that ball on a 4th and long I think everybody's heart just stopped for a second.  As a fan I don't think I will ever forget that game.
 14. It's not so much of a "chip on the shoulder" thing, it always seems as if no matter who Vidor plays or wins against, there is always a reason as to why we won.  Just as it's stated above, going into the Clear Brook game there was all this hype of this is going to be the real test for Vidor!!  Well, we came out on top, 33-14 to be exact and now it's, oh they weren't that strong of a team anyways, maybe a weak 5A team but no strong 5A team.  In the event Vidor pulls a win out next week against Ned, I am sure it will be something else as to "why" they won.  Not "just because Vidor played a great game" tonight.  I have much respect for all the teams in our district, as we all should.  ;)
You should probably read posts before commenting. Either that or you just aren't capable of processing what's being posted. Smack talk is all part of it and I understand that. It comes from all sides. But I don't believe everyone is "taking a shot" at Vidor in regards to not giving them the respect they deserve. I said before the year started that 20-4A was a better district when Vidor is relevant. You can't please everyone and not every person is going to give certain teams respect, but I don't feel like I have said anything to take away what Vidor has accomplished. As for threads like this being started every year, I don't recall them, but that's a chicken and egg issue if that's the case. It's an observation and an inquiry. Not a reason to get all knotted up over. I like it when Vidor has a great team, it makes Nederland better win or lose. Just don't understand how so many people can give respect to Vidor and still some fans seem to have a complex about it. Heck, even the pollsters on this board think you're better than Nederland. You win.
Now nobody said all that! That has yet to be proved. Now if they take the crown away....they are gonna be so hard to live with! ;D
Even as a die hard, all my life, Pirate fan, I don't even think I will be able to live with the other fans if we take the crown away!!  I can see the extreme amount of threads that will be started!

Especially a team that has film and past game plans on defending the Wing-T. Yeah Vidor is 3-0 and it is a big deal for Vidor fans, but the total record of those 3 opponents is 1-9 with the only win coming by the hands of BC defeating a bad Kelly team. On the other hand Nederland comes in to the game with a 2-1 record, with their only loss coming to #3 ranked Angleton by 8 points. Nederlands opponents have a total record of 8-2 with the only two losses being dealt by the hands of Nederland. With all this being said Nederland is stilling trying to work the kinks out of there Offense and go more deeper into their playbook. But the Nederland defensive talent (if all Healthy) will be the best Vidor has seen all year, hands down. Heck, Nederland is the best team they will have played after this.  Nederland Wins 28-6!!!!!!
Last week it was all about Clear Brooks offense being biggest, fastest, and best Vidor has seen so far. Vidor wins and now all of a sudden Clear Brook is trash and everyone forgets about their OT loss to LP, where several posters claimed they outplayed LP but fell short on scoreboard. Then they take Seven Lakes to triple OT and Give them the win after they rush on the field after blocking a field goal kick. Just funny how they lose so much credibility after losing to Vidor . After one helluva hard fought WAR with lots of ups and downs :::::: Vidor 23 Nederland 21
I remember seeing a lot of people saying last week that Clear Brook wasn't getting the credit they deserved because they were a tough team and don't let the 0-2 fool you.    Vidor beats them and now CB wasn't "that great" of a team.  Vidor - 17 Ned - 14
Clear Brook lost to LaPorte in OT but LaPorte played a reall 5A team(Clear Springs) and got hammered 32-8 so dont think Clear Brook was that good of a team. Besides, I expected vidor to to play good against Clear Brook. No one in that district runs the Wing-T. It's hard to guard something that u never see!!!
So that is the reason we won? Because CB has never seen the Slot-T offense??  Wow, that's amazing!! God forbid it was because Vidor played an awesome game on both sides of the ball!  ::)
 17.
Vidor fans..If you don't learn anything else, at least learn this...In this district its hard to earn respect, and if you take away the District title this year, people will say its a fluke...due to injuries on other teams, rebuilding, district play wasn't that tough...you get the picture.  Support your team thru good and bad, and do it how ever you want. There is NO shame in singing your teams accolades...Its a shame if you don't.  Have a great season! See you at Homecoming!
I agree with all that you have said, my family and I have supported the Pirates since the late 80's.  Supported our Pirates even when every play Coach Law called was, up the middle, up the middle, pass, punt!  The fans even used to chant that during the games.  Coach Pat Murphy was a friend of ours and a good coach.  Mathews has been a great friend of my family's and has done some amazing things with the team and the program since taking over and even more so the past few years.  I remember when we were 5A and played the Houston school and used to get the crap beat out of us.  Good luck to all of our opposing teams this season and even greater luck to My Pirates!!  I hope to see us sweep the district this year.  ;D

 19.
I saw Vidor play BC and I know how good Nederland is. Vidor is going to get beat pretty bad. They won't be able to handle the Nederland defensive line at all. Too much size and skill upfront for Nederland for a much smaller Vidor team that wants to run the ball the whole time.
I had my own concerns after watching the Vidor/BC game, then I watched the Vidor/Clear Brook game and we were a whole new team.  I have no doubt the Pirates pull out a win against Ned this year.  It will be a close, hard fought game though.

It is a wonderful experience watching them go through the pain and anguish of every play and the exuberance of their son doing well. Two extremely nice people...BTW, Montana has two younger brothers who play as well. What high school football is all about.
We must have been about 3 or 4 rows below you then.  He is an outstanding player.  All the guys this year are doing great, they are really complimenting each other every game.
