  1. The Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans hope to get the 2016 season off of the ground tonight at they host the Shepherd Pirates. Mark Byrd's Trojans had their season opener with Hardin-Jefferson called by lightning. The Pirates suffered the same fate with their scheduled opener with Cleveland. Join Kraig Erwin and Elmer Luck for all of the action from Trojan Field in Coldspring beginning with the kickoff at 7:00 pm by tuning your radio to KETX 1440 AM or by clicking the following link: [Hidden Content] Follow Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojan Football on The Score, KETX 1440 AM and Your Source for Sports in Southeast Texas, SETXsports!
  2. Hey, you promised a good one, too. It is soon time to deliver on that promise.
  3. WILD HORSES, PROTESTERS KEEP ORANGE COUNTY AUTHORITIES BUSY FRIDAY NIGHT LITTLE CYPRESS - For the second time in two weeks, the rampage of a stampeding heard of wild horses caused chaos and havoc at a local football stadium. This time, however, there terror occurred in Northern Orange County at Battlin' Bear Stadium. At about 7:00 pm, the dispatchers' office of the Orange Country Sheriff's Department was flooded with frantic 911 calls from the stadium about wild horses trampling bears. One visibly shaken fan told the Leaders' Van Wade, "IT WAS HORRENDOUS! We were doing nothing but our traditional BOJO dance and chillin' to 'Everything Green, Everything Gold' when they came out of the south gate and trampled our poor little bears! THEY TRAMPLED OUR BEARS!!!!" A very irritated Dr. Pauline Hargrove, superintendent of the LC-M CISD angrily claimed "This madness has got to stop, I know there is a school district that is responsible for this and they need to be reprimanded!" She then pointed to a school bus which was seen heading south on Highway 87 from which the audible phrase "YOU CAN'T WIN THE KENTUCKY DERBY WITH A MULE" could be heard. Neither West Orange-Cove CISD officials or West Orange-Cove CISD Athletic Director Cornel Thompson were available for comment. However, the story does have a happy ending as Sheriff Keith Merritt confirmed that none of the trampled bears were seriously injured. "For the second week in a row, we've been lucky," said Merritt, "But if this continues, someone is going to get seriously hurt. Sheriff Merritt also noted that the sheriff's deputies were hindered in responding to the chaos by a couple of protesters outside of Battlin' Bear Stadium. The first of the protesters rushed deputies yelling "DO YOU CALL THIS TRAFFIC CONTROL? THIS IS EMBARRASSING!" According to police reports he then started yelling "GRASS SUCKS! NO MORE GRASS! NO MORE GRASS, I CAN'T BALANCE MY CAVIAR AND CHAMPAGNE ON GRASS!" As deputies took him into custody for disturbing the peace, he yelled at the arresting officers, "I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU DO TO ME, I AIN'T TELLING YOU WHERE MY KID IS!" The court date for the man, identified as Gregory Poole of Mont Belvieu, has yet to be set. And finally, the same man found outside of Dan R. Hooks Stadium last week by authorities was again in action Friday night in Little Cypress. This time, according to officials, his protest consisted of him yelling at the visitor's side of the stadium, "Y'all ain't so great! WE GREAT 'cause Greg Tepper says we great!" Officials did not reveal the man's identity but did state their belief that he was from Eastern Harris County. At the end of the night, a visibly tired Merritt uttered, "They simply do not pay us enough around here."
  4. My understanding is that Coach Thompson did sub, but the size of the team kind of limits how many subs he can make.
  5. My only caution is that texaslive.com has gone pay per view. The subscription is not that expensive, but there is one.
  6. Not difficult to do if Silsbee only throws the ball 6 times a game.
  7. I saw that live at that scrimmage. Kolten is a talented young man!
  8. I get what you are saying, but I am sure that Mackey would have had a much more difficult time if the opponent wasn't playing their first season of 11 man.
  9. Those that are going to take the shuttle probably need to take the N. Main St. Exit in Baytown off of I-10 and travel south. It is at the corner of N. Main and Hunt Rd.
  10. Are y'all doing a 5A show this week?
  11. Of course, there is already a day care opened.....IT'S CALLED SETXsports!!!
  12. Too bad that I can only give one like to this one!
  13. Where this thread appears to be going is exactly why the previous thread on this topic was deleted. While there were equally passionate views both ways, the resolution to attach Coach Breedlove's name to Hooks Stadium was passed by a duly elected board of trustees. The debate about which whether it remains is that for the current duly elected board which may or may not take it up....given the multitude of issues that this board has in front of them as is before any other school board, I doubt that they believe, and rightly so, that this issue warrants any sort of priority. The back and forth here on whether Leroy Breedlove deserves his name on the field on Newton Ave. in West Orange will move the needle about as far as all of the debates here that has taken place on whether Carroll Thomas deserves his name on the stadium off of I-10 in West Beaumont. All that will be accomplished is that nasty things will be said, probably about one another, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, will result in a major headache for me. Thus, by the powers vested in me by Jordan Wilson, I declare this thread CLOSED!
  14. Come on, guys. Let's get them in!
  15. Gabriel Pruett ‏@PaNewsGabe VB: Ned wins 4th 25-22 and wins match 3-1
  16. The coach used poor judgment in a couple of different ways. First, he played a player whose eligibility was in question, which exposed his team to certain defeat, regardless of what happened on the field. Second, he refused the order of his bosses not to play the player in question. That simply couldn't be overlooked and wouldn't be by any administration in this area.
  17. Actually, the practice is pretty wide spread in Southeast Texas, Nederland included: [Hidden Content]
  18. Vidor has done that as well, naming the field after longtime trustee Ivan Croak. Either last year or the year before, Newton named the field at Singletary Stadium as Curtis Barbay Field.
  19. dBerry, you are correct that is exactly what happened. The stadium is named for Dan Hooks, the field is named for Leroy Breedlove. Other high schools in the area have done that, Vidor, Newton and if I am not mistaken, Nederland, to name a few.
  20. Vidor might have a better than average chance in this one. From what I have seen, Memorial runs primarily out of the I and are, like Vidor, a run first offense. So Vidor won't see the aerial attack that it witnessed last week which may be able to even the scales for them a bit.
  21. Somebody called? I guess since this one has gotten off of track I guess it is time to bring this to a close. It seems that I am having to do this quite often. But before doing so, 14.2 would be well served to heed a tweet that Coach Riordan himself just made: jeff riordan ‏@coachriordan 57s57 seconds ago “When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2 Good evening, folks!
  22. Very nice read about a good guy, hope things go well for him.
  23. Those were deleted from Superintendent Snob's profile yesterday evening. Admittedly though, it wasn't done until the "apology" which from my understanding occurred Monday morning. Just a typical day in Baby's Hill.
