  1. 75, could you do me a favor? When you say that Tarver has shown apathy toward the other sports, could you explain that? I only ask for this reason....it is not like BC has been starved for athletic success aside from football. Look at this year as an example. A state championship in boys' cross country, a boys' basketball team that is competing for a playoff spot, baseball and softball teams that will be competing for state championships. So the football program isn't the only successful athletic program at BC. Now as to the fact that he is not a very personable guy, I agree that it is not a good trait to have when you are trying to save your job. However, is that a good reason for getting rid of someone? This is certainly an outsider view, but it appears that BC is taking a step back if they get rid of Tarver.
  2. With Memorial, is that something that the state is going to have to have a say in? That school baord may be dissolved before a hiring is made. If it is the current board, I see them hiring from within and keeping someone like Senegal in place. But if that changes, I see them going outside of the district and probably someone younger who is just trying to fill a slot on the resume. I can't believe that the run that BC made this year could not put to rest the problems that the folks in BC had with Claude Tarver. If he is removed, I hear that native son, Jeff Mathews, currently at Vidor, will move over to fill that job. I think this would be a HUGE mistake as Mathews's teams at Vidor have consistently underachieved. And I am not sure if BC wants to have the likes of Gulf Shores on their schedule.
  3. My understanding is that Dr. Breithraupt himself has some ties to Buna.
  4. Well for something that wasn't planned, he sure landed on his feet pretty well!
  5. In the words of the late John Belushi in Animal House, "Don't cost nuthin!"
  6. Actually, with the number that BH turned in and the numbers I am hearing as the projected 4A numbers, I am not sure that the Hill will be 4A next year.
  7. Yeah, but to be the man, you gotta beat the man. Okay, please forgive me for starting this with a Ric Flair quote, but scheduling this sort of competition (which is not new to either school) is how you prepare for the Marshalls or the world.
  8. There are rumors that those five will be in a district together come February.
  9. I know that a while back, KLVI had such a format for its football games. That would be kind of cool.
  10. I don't understand something, jdawg. Earl Thomas, Deon's teammate made all state. Would his inclusion mean that he was not omitted when Deon was? If the question sounds confusing, it only mirrors the state of the person asking it.
  11. Well, you know we have done all of this moaning about Deon, who is probably sweating this a whole lot less than we are, that I didn't realize until I looked at the list again that Earl Thomas made the 2nd team all-state defense. CONGRATS, ET!!!!!
  12. Wow! If that is the 3A range, that top number jumps up 101 from the previous two. A lot of schools like Huffman and Barbers Hill that thought they would be going 4A might well stay in 3A for the next couple of years!
