  1. Quite simply, it comes down to this. For the area to look at LC-M, Vidor or Lumberton as a potential playoff team in this district, one of them are going to first have to make the playoffs. And yes it will probably have to do in a "shock the world" kind of season. There is nothing wrong with optimism, especially since all teams are 0-0. However, those teams who are not perennial playoffs teams should expect to have their talk of high hopes dismissed, especially given that such talk of high hopes has not translated into success on the field.
  2. Although the thought of a lateral move, especially within the district, is somewhat earth shattering, it might not be that much of stretch for Coach Landry as he does have some ties to Orange. His late grandfather was a longtime resident of Orange and his father is a West Orange High graduate.
  3. Good luck to Coach Bean at PN-G. But I do hate to see that the WO-S baseball coaches job has become a revolving door since Ronnie Anderson retired. Does anyone think they could convince Chuck Young (longtime BC coach who played for Anderson at West Orange High) could be talked into coming home?
  4. I, for one, am a little more pleased with Vidor's pre-district schedule as playing the likes of St. Pius and Houston Jones is a definite step up from playing the likes of Gulf Shores and the Houston doormats, er, Houston Scarborough.
  5. I am a bit surprised that the Stanley Cup did not start today. It would have been a perfect opportunity to rule the airwaves since there is no NBA action until (I believe) Thursday).
  6. That's right. It has been postponed. They will try to play it next week.
  7. Also remember that the '87 WO-S team not only was a nationally ranked team, but also BEAT a nationally ranked team in Aldine McArthur, who was the #1 ranked 5A team......and I think was #6 in the USA Today poll...at the time.
  8. I agree....but I am certainly not going to second-guess a coach that has well over 200 wins on his resume. LOL!
  9. Well, I do understand at small schools there may be a problem of availability. But I think that effect should be weighed by the coach and AD's at the individual schools, not globally by the UIL. If a coach believes that the effectiveness of the spring practice would be compromised by the absence of his football players participating in other sports that would be a major reason to forego the practice and start earlier in the summer. But that should be the decision of the individual school.
  10. I think it should be made available to the 3A schools. However, I don't know that if I were a coach, I'd avail myself to it. Remember that if you do spring practice in 4A-5A, you must start during the summer later. If I am an established program (i.e the coach has been there a while and has his offense/defense installed) I'd rather the extra time at the beginning of the school year.
  11. Hold on guys, I have some breaking news. I have gotten a hold of the newest rule that will be introduced regarding Connecticut High School Football. It reads as follows: "Before once a ball carrier reaches the five yard line, he must turn to the nearest defender and ask 'Mother, may I?' before entering the end zone."
  12. Whoever does sign him and waits for that knee to heal is going to get themselves a gem!
  13. Speaking of QBs, BH. Is Chris Daniels getting a look from anyone at the next level?
  14. Yeah' date=' I read that as well. An example is a projection that I ran last year when we this was on wo-s.com: at Newton (TX) [2005'] Newton (TX) 42, [2005] Memorial (Port Arthur, TX) 14 at Memorial (Port Arthur, TX) [2005] Newton (TX) 41, [2005] Memorial (Port Arthur, TX) 14 at neutral site [2005] Newton (TX) 42, [2005] Memorial (Port Arthur, TX) 14 I don't see where Newton could put that wide a margin on Memorial.
  15. I think where the accuracy sometimes fails with that site is the failure to take in the size of the schools.
  16. LOL! Well Coop! We know this thing ain't COMPLETELY accurate! Here is 2005 Bridge City vs. 2001 DeLaSalle at De La Salle (Concord, CA) [2001] De La Salle (Concord, CA) 42, [2005] Bridge City (TX) 10 at Bridge City (TX) [2001] De La Salle (Concord, CA) 42, [2005] Bridge City (TX) 12 at neutral site [2001] De La Salle (Concord, CA) 42, [2005] Bridge City (TX) 12
  17. 2005 WO-S vs. 2001 DeLaSalle at De La Salle (Concord, CA) [2001] De La Salle (Concord, CA) 46, [2005] West Orange-Stark (Orange, TX) 17 at West Orange-Stark (Orange, TX) [2001] De La Salle (Concord, CA) 44, [2005] West Orange-Stark (Orange, TX) 20 at neutral site [2001] De La Salle (Concord, CA) 44, [2005] West Orange-Stark (Orange, TX) 19
  18. Do you think we might have a little closer score than when both varsities hooked it up?
  19. Not with the realignment. They went completely from scratch with the new district mates.
  20. LOL! faninthestands, I love to see your posts. Well, I actually like that cat fight avatar!
