1.
I REALLY don't want this to get out of hand... all treads on this have been locked. I don't want any wise cracks at the parents, kids, or present/former staff.  I graduated from HJ in early 90's, when I all programs were good... I don't live in the area anymore and I am very interested on what is going in my former area...Once a HAWK always a HAWK..  I would love to hear what the "word on the street" is... What have you heard??? when will they make a move??? What you got?? Here is what I have heard... please correct me if you heard different..... Last I heard is they might offer Sutherland the AD/Job.. I believe he was promised the job before he signed BACK on at HJ... I love the man, but IMO...... I just don't know if he wants it or if it is best for ALL programs... An AD has lots to deal with instead of just concentrating on just basketball.. I could see more than one parent from the football program complaining that the "athletic kids" are "pushed to play basketball only"... Its already happening(people saying the athletic kids only play basketball) and he is not the AD.... I know Sutherland... He was my former coach in football and basketball... I KNOW he would not do that.. but... I really believe the WHOLE athletic program would do better if they hired a football AD... Someone that is new.. not a current head coach just wanting to settle, because really that is what you are going to get right now... Someone REALLY hungry....someone wanting to make ALL programs better... not just basketball and golf.... someone ready to bring in coaches and shake things up.. these are usually 4A, 5A Offense/Defense coordinators.. Someone that is not afraid to step on some toes.. again JMO SO.... Please no wise cracks... I just what to know what have you heard... What is your opinion(no parent/kid cracks) on the future success of the HJ Athletic Program!!  I would love to hear what you think but in a educated manor... Go Hawks!!
What is the difference between a basketball coach being AD and a football coach being AD?  Does a football coach care more for the overall program than the basketball coach?  Not trying to stir it up but, just asking an honest question based on what you posted.  Funny that you say that the better athletes are pushed to play basketball only because the HJ basketball program saw between 8-12 kids not play this year that played last year and several were going to be contributors on the varsity team.  They all had the same reason for not playing:  to get ready for football next year.  I don't think it matters what sport you coach, that has no bearing on your care for the overall athletic program.  By the sound of your post perhaps schools should make the AD positions split from coaching positions.
Well the last time I checked Silsbee was down by 3 with 3 minutes to play, unlike HJ, who were blown out in the 3rd and 4th qtr... That was no chance ;)
It was 9 with 1:30 to go in the 3rd when HJ's post picked up his 4th.  Silsbee kept it closer for a while because of their depth.
 3. Let me correct myself.  Yes, a district Championship is important.  And it should be.  But everyone is playing for one prize.
That is like saying HJ had no chance at beating Silsbee this year
It is what it is.  Silsbee defeated HJ by 5 and 8 and won district.  Congrats on the district title.  But ultimately nobody cares about district titles now do they?

 6. Never mind that Jefferson County houses about three times as many schools ::)
 7. I can only speak for HJ.  HJ has been to Regionals every year since 2007.  Last time not there was 06, that is up until this year.
 8. Great season Tigers!! Too many missed FT's and cold as ice from down town. Closer than a lot of people expected it also!!!
 9.
Is that how you lost that weight Lazeek,  a good rear eating?
Not hardly!!!!
 10.
Blue Dove I am not mad at all. Not once did I say that Bosha did not have weaknesses. Lazeek I really dont know what you are talking about but I do know that I am not a bad apple, I am just giving my opinion. I have seen you write some really stupid stuff on this thread so dont judge me. SMH
I have posted one post on this thread.  And it was far from stupid. Just saying you are making an ass of yourself!!!!
 11. I hope that all don't view the HJ family the same way that y'all are viewing this "big girl" person.  We all know the real deal.  And yes, Bosha is a great player but there are things to get better at.  I don't know a single ball player from SE Texas who has the "entire" package.  And if there were one, then all of the "BIG" schools would be here recruiting him or her weekly!!!! Once again, please don't view all HJ fans as you do this one.  There is always one bad apple in the bunch!!!!
 12.
Just saw some highlights here in Houston of Yates vs HJ.. Yates was doing windmill, 360's,, andsome wild alley opps. They seem to try to dunk on every drive to the hoop. Foul them and make them shoot free throws!
There were NO 360's!!!!
 13.
Ill be there live and in person again! Trust me Yayes crowd will be THIN! Its a work night and they dont travel outside of Houston well.
It was a work night last night when they played HJ, and it was out of Houston!!!! ::) ::) ::)
 14. You mean that "weak" 2A team that played in the HJ tournament beat Kountze?? Tatum was the most athletic looking team in the HJ tournament.  Guess they are for real.  Great season KTZ, you will be strong again next season.
 15.
Exactly we must play our best all around te game all year and even that may not be enough.  If things don't go our way and we get down on each other it will get ugly real fast.  Just out if curiosity, how many players did Yates use during that first half?
I believe 8-9
 16.

It will be a tough game for Silsbee but I think they can pull off a upset! They just need to play Tiger basketball for all 4 quarters!
Just curious BlueOwl (hmmm Blue?) Have you ever seen Yates play?
They need to play TEAM basketball, not TIGER basketball........
 17. Who knew there were so many hard core Republicans on this board?  I mean, I would have never guessed that there were this many people in favor of school choice.
 18. Was told by someone last night that if you live around Houston and are great at basketball you go to Yates, and if you are great at baseball you go to Bellaire. It is what it is!!!
 19. As far as the venue goes.  Atascocita holds 2000.  By halftime I would say that it was  at about 1800 or a little more.
 20. Let me say what some don't want to hear.................... Does he anyone know what Vince McMahon's entrance them is on WWE? That is the odds of someone from Region 3 beating Yates!!!!
 21. Bluedove I agree.......what is it gonna take to make some of these people understand?
 22. Just curious ST413 if size was not the problem, then how did Swift and Inowa combine for 49 points? The real difference was depth.  Once HJ got into foul trouble in the 3rd is when the game got out of hand.  Mays picking up #3 and #4 within 6 seconds was the turning point of the game.  And it went from a single digit point game to a 20 point lead almost instantly!!! Their length, quickness and unbelievable shooting percentage was the difference.
