I think everyone really knows what the issues are at HJ.  It is written all over this thread!!!!! And Mical and Barry you are right, if the HJ basketball struggled I would not like it.  But it is not.  It has easily one of the best coaching staffs in the state of Texas, and is one of the best programs in 3A year in and year out!!!! The reason I only go to a few HJ football games a year is because of people that holler from the stands, do this, do that.  If you know so much get your teaching certificate, get a coaching job and prove how good you are.  My guess is that you will fail miserably!!! Coach Martel is a great coach, great AD and an even better person.  And from a HJ alum, HJ fan and the brother in law of a HJ coach and the spouse of an HJ coach it is people like you that run off great coaches.  How long until you start dogging the new coach???

As a loyal HJ fan, I will be the first to say that there are many more people sad that Martel left then there are happy that he left. And there is always one who sticks out like a sore thumb and makes everyone at HJ  look silly.  ::) ::) ::)

And I agree KTZ is better now.  So are you suggesting that had HJ/KTZ played say 2 weeks later that Kountze would have beat HJ?

You should all take DV opinion with a grain of salt.  He has a lovefest for several SE Texas teams and HJ is not one of them.  However he saw one game this year when HJ was not at their best, and when even the Silsbee people have said that the Tigers played the best half of basketball that they have played all year. Take it to the bank..........HJ wins!!!

Be interested in hearing why Freeze is not the coach at Central??  Great team, just needs a great coach.

HJ, and it will be a much different game than at WOS.  Not taking anything away from WOS, they are a great team and they are well coached. HJ 64 WOS 52

For the record Longview is every bit as athletic as WOS and Silsbee.

Tough place to play at WOS.  Soft rims, benches in the stands, etc.  With all that said, Silsbee wins 65-49

Confirmed attendance at the HJ/Silsbee game Tuesday night at Ford Park was just over 2,000 through the gate.  Number does not include teams, coaches, cheerleaders, band or media.
