Proud of my Hawks!!! Lost by 28 but kept it interesting for almost 3 quarters.  I will say this.  This Yates team is the best team that HJ has ever faced, and HJ had Yates attention at half.  They are the most athletic and long 3A team I have ever seen.  As much as I want a local to team to make it to state there is not a team in Region 3 that can play with Yates.  JY rolls into State and awaits a matchup with Madison in my opinion.  Even though HJ had 33 turnovers you don't realize how good they played!!! I will be at the Yates/Silsbee game next week, and will be pulling for the Tigers. 

So a winning tradition generates attention all the way over in Africa?

Rumor has it that HJ will forfeit the game without even playing it.  I mean there is no way that little ol' HJ can even come within 50 points of big ol' Yates.  Why even make the trip across Lake Houston for this one!!!!

I stand corrected......HJ lost to Splendora at Lee College in 2006.

I spoke with my "sources" today regarding these rumors.  Here are the facts: -HJ was never contacted by Kountze for a warm up game. -HJ had tentative plans to play WOS at EC if WOS lost to Silsbee -When WOS beat Silsbee HJ had nothing -EC contacted HJ and WOS and had warm up opponents for them (on Wednesday) -WOS was going to play PNG, HJ was going to play West Sabine -Wednesday evening PNG and West Sabine backed out of the EC Preview and left both WOS and HJ with nothing -HJ was planning on not playing anyone at all until they received a text from Stafford on Thursday morning asking if they had a game -HJ played Stafford in a warm up last year and so they agreed to play again and nothing was finalized until around 3 PM on Thursday All this speculation about HJ/Kountze is a lie and never happened.......and HJ is VERY VERY confused on why Kountze would refuse them the double header.

Only WOS and Huffman will be playing at Kountze. Kountze is refusing to host a double header.  HJ and Coldspring are currently looking for another place to play.

Ozen will play at Ford Park on Monday night.
