Bridge City by 10.
I mean, we’ll be back to Bridge City by 10 if we leave after halftime.
That really did make me LOL this morning. And thanks for staying for halftime...those band kids and strutters really do put in some time and work too.

How many DCs will this give BC if we can hold it together?
26 I believe.

Who would have thought this young team would have made it this far?! While I'm sad the 2017 journey ended here and ended like this, I really look forward to the future of this group of young men!

Hmmmm...did you notice I started "Devil's advocate?".
Yep...someone said no one answered your question. So I took the liberty of answering your question with more questions.

Devil's advocate...if I home school my kids and can't participate in any public school activities, should I be able to be exempted from paying school taxes?
Should a retired couple with grown kids out of school be exempt? What about the couple that chose not to have kids? What about the single person with no kids? Should we exempt them all?
-
No.
How do you manage the whole "no pass/no play"? You have a kid that can't pass in public school...but has unbelievable athletic talent. So mom/dad "homeschools" him/her while still participating in athletics. Do we take parent's word that their kid is passing? And what curriculum are they using? Is it as challenging as the public school?
And then do we open it up to all extra curricular activities? Homeschoolers in the marching band, in the choir, one act play? Where do you draw the line?

Just seen the 7 day forecast. Looks like Friday Jan. 27 the lows will be in the 30's and the highs will be in the 50's. Typical Southeast Texas baseball weather. TigerNation!!!
When my friends are whining about how warm it is at Christmas, I always remind them that our cold weather doesn't hit until baseball season starts. And here we are!

When Neegan whacked the first one, I relaxed. Was sad, but not devastated. Was not prepared at all for the second one. Kinda came out of nowhere. My mistake, lesson learned. Was brutal for sure.

If you want to see a band do it right, go to a Lamar game and sit near the band. They operate like a well oiled machine! They never play while a play is going on...they will cut off a song as soon as the ball is snapped. And because they're right behind the visiting team's bench, the heckling is pretty funny.

That's been a sore subject in BC this fall....
For years the band stayed down on the track and played and danced all through the third quarter. Last year everybody agreed that they could keep performing on the track (right behind the bench) during the 3rd quarter, as long as they shut it down while we were on offense.
Apparently the band never appointed a lookout, because the crowd was yelling at the band to shut up in HF for playing while the offense was working during our first game this year. After that the Nerd Herd got banished back into the stands where they belong. It seems like they've almost stopped playing other than the fight song since then.
Wow. That's harsh. Do you even know how much work they put in daily? They start practicing weeks before the football team even shows up. They have so many trophies and awards, they just pile them in a corner of the band hall, seriously. The BC band is well respected in this area as they are just that good. You call yourself "CardinalBacker." I guess you limit which Cardinals you "back," because calling a group of hard working, talented, amazing musicians "Nerd Herd" isn't exactly supportive. What a shame.
Our band has grown exponentially over the past few years. That has presented a problem during 3rd quarter because they're too big and way too loud. Last year it was agreed they would only play while we were on defense. Last year's head drum majors were very in tune with the game and controlled the band accordingly. The game is close, we're on defense, they knew what to have them play and play loud. They knew when to hush them. It worked well.
I don't know what happened this year other than they had almost 150 kids on the track, they were too loud, and were playing at the wrong time. Rather than have a discussion with band leadership and come to a compromise, they were told to shut down 3rd quarter. The band has had a change in leadership this year, new drum majors and different band director. I don't know what has happened, but I have heard from several people that they're too quiet during the game and that's a shame as they do play a crucial part to the vibe of the game. I've only been to one game this season so I can't form an opinion on that. But what I did notice is that even the fans have a different attitude, not as lively as they were last year. What changed?
Anywho....that's my 2 cents worth of rambling. Next time stick around at halftime and enjoy their show. They would appreciate the support.

Dorion pitched a heckuva game! Hated to watch him limp off the field. We need to dig deep and clinch this.

Yep. 5 innings. And weather not looking good. Even if it clears up in an hour, not sure what field conditions will be like.

McDowell pitching. In bottom 4th BC up 12-1.

I'm young-ish and I could have done without that too REB.
Still struggling to care about this show/characters....and that makes me sad.

Silsbee capitalized when it counted. Impressed with a few sportscenter worthy catches by the Tigers too. This district definitely knows how to keep things interesting! Can't wait to see how things shake out.

Landry knows how to pull kids together and make them want to perform. I don't think BC will ever be a football powerhouse, but Landry is creating a team with some excitement.
