I was told by Coach Carter that Henry and Leckich pitched extended innings Saturday in Lufkin.
Bridge City and PNG will have good seasons.....Runs were scored by both teams when they got to their number 4-5-6 pitchers. Hitting for both teams was a little iffy.....I think BC had 3 hits and PNG had 3 or 4....both teams will have to hit better.
Actually PNG scored their runs on our #2 and #3 pitchers. No runs scored on 4, 5, 6. I think that speaks to the depth of our pitching team and am excited about what they all bring to the mound and will be able to contribute. But you're right, we need to get those bats connecting.

Still in first.

Gonna be a long night....

BC 35-14 with 3 mins left in 3rd

Smh....let's let it go. In the playoffs everyone starts 0-0. Let's stop the trash talking, move onward and upward. Once the posts start losing class (on BOTH sides), this discussion becomes pointless.

Another silsbee TD. Wow. Come on Cards!
34-14 silsbee

windy, gloomy, no rain....yet.

Is he OK? He's a heck of a baller! Great game tonight. It was gonna be a heartbreaker for someone.
As a baseball mom who's seen pur playoff runs end because of the Falcons, I'd like to say it was nice to finally beat y'all...even if it it was on a football field.

Come on BC our guy is hurt. We didn't tell across at you when 12 was down
that was uncalled for. Other BC fans were telling them to hush. Sorry....

Dearing with pass int. Seconds left in game. Way to go BC!!!

LCM scored. Then onside kick that BC 22 snatched up and ran in. 62-35. 2:45 left in 4th

49-14. 3 mins left in 3rd.

13 is derick Dearing. He's a class act off the field too. Good kid! Thrilled to see him having a great season!

BC scores again...14-7. Still 8 left in the first.

And LCM answers right back. BC defense must stop the ball or it's going to be a long night.

Thanks for the videos from Galena Park this past weekend, Rocketfan. Proud of our BCHS marching band! They made an impressive showing against 5A and 6A schools placing 1st in the 4A division and 8th over all (out of 30 bands).
We're looking forward to hosting our first marching contest this weekend and seeing our local talented bands.

CardinalBacker, I appreciate your updates and thoughtful opinions. All without being too cocky or bashing any of the kids/coaches. Thumbs up!
Now I'm thrilled that we won...but am dreading that newbie kid's rants about how we're going to win state and beat everyone and blah blah bla . He embarrasses me. Sigh...

That personal foul was just ugly and unnecessary.

PAT was good. 21-7

Everyone wants to see BC win...well except for whomever we're playing that Friday night. I've loved seeing the support from all the other teams here, and see how excited southeast Texas is to see BC come back to life. I don't know who this new kid is, but I'm embarrassed by his smack talking and that he's turning such a positive new season in to an ugly grudge match.
Mr. Cardinal-statechamps15...could you wait until we win some District games before spewing the smack talk? Or not even then. No need to pot stir until we can actually back it up.
That's my 2 pennies....enjoy!

BC just got beat.... period. Dubois' gameplan to throw the ball early wasn't a bad idea, it just wasn't successful. Lumberton WAS vulnerable to the passing attack, but we just didn't capitalize. Lumberton's lines (D&O) simply pushed our lines around. BC turned the ball over on downs several times. There was a BC turnover right at the goal line, but then Lumberton went three and out... our punt returner #8 returned the ball back to about the five, and we eventually scored a touchdown. It was a turnover, but not costly. Lumberton held us on two consecutive go-ahead drives in the fourth, and then forced a BC fumble on the final series. Lumberton did what they needed to do and EARNED that victory. BC didn't shoot themselves in the foot. They showed up for the gunfight without a pistol.
My opinion is that BC got ahead of themselves and greatly underestimated what turned out to be a Lumberton team that had two weeks to prepare for us, and they were ready. Not wanting to make excuses, but BC just wasn't ready to play. This game was picked as the "game of the week" by both local TV affiliates, and it wasn't because of Lumberton's 1 pt win over Hamshire-Fannett. The whole thing took on an atmosphere of "we can't be beat" instead of "I believe we can win." There was a 5:15 am Pep Rally on Friday morning. That's right.... up at four-thirty on gameday to be at the school for a pep rally and interviews. There was another pep rally that afternoon which featured a hot-dog eating contest for some of the O-line.
Coach Dubois tried to get his players out of the 5AM pep rally, but no dice. I believe that the kids got a (much needed) wake-up call in an otherwise meaningless game, and luckily nobody got hurt. Dubois will make the necessary adjustments and we'll be back in business shortly.
I'll agree with almost everything you had to say, they just weren't ready/it didn't come together like planned, and way too much hype. I won't agree with the pep rallies (morning and afternoon) having anything to do with the loss. There were only 4 players at the morning event with Channel 12. Not the entire team...just 4. And there was only 1 player involved in the hot dog eating contest. He didn't finish 4 hot dogs....and this was FOUR HOURS before the game. Can't imagine that kid having a hard time putting down a few hotdogs and going out to the field a little while later. Again...I don't see either of these points as being what cost us the game. I would hate to see these activities being pointed at and blamed as being a factor in this game.

Lumberton got ball back on their own 26.

BC scoredscored... 14-19. And just intercepted pass on first play after TD.

I wasn't there yesterday, but heard it was pretty awful! And the term "rabbit ears" was what I heard as well. You can't be a successful umpire and be that sensitive. But I did hear he was much more contained the last game. Hoping he won't be back this weekend...wouldn't that be nice?
