Yeah 2012 2-8 team was the bomb.
Turning on your own...I love it! And don't give me that business...all I heard last year was that this png team was the team of teams and was gonna wipe the floor with the Dogs at our own house and end both the streak against Nederland as well as the undefeated district streak (which was still intact at that time)...so you guys certainly thought you had a good team last year (and you did)...in the past 5 years, each of the png teams have been pretty good with the 2012 exception.
Besides, this thread slipped to page 2, which isn't right on the day of MCM...had to put something out to move it back up!
And 12-3 for Nederland this century.

probably the only thing I will agree with an indian fan about this week, leave the dang game at the school venues!!! MC Madness should be in MC not Beaumont!
On a more serious note, this again should be a great game...I know that the png faithful will accuse me of playing the old "underdog" card, but Nederland seriously should not be favored to win this game...ON PAPER, png should be favored...having said that, these games aren't played on paper and once again, Neumann and staff have the Dogs playing better and better each week...the longer this game stays close, the greater the pressure will be on png to reverse this 5 year losing trend...Nederland just seems to have a way and the fortitude to pull these tough games out...again, looking for a great, exciting game, but:
Dogs 38
Indians 35

Here is what I could find on PN-G vs Lumberton
1996 PN-G 69 -7
1997 PN-G 47-14
2002 PN-G 21-14
2003 PN-G 45-7
2004 PN-G 41-21
2005 PNG 42-21
2006 PN-G 36-23
2007 PN-G 31-24
2008 Lumberton 17-10
2009 PN-G 39-6
2010 PN-G 42-14
2011 PN-G 57-10
2012 PN-G 34-25
2013 PN-G 45-0
2014 PN-G 55-10
2015 PN-G 42-25
I did not see any other matches between the two. The series is relativly a new series
Dang, looks like Nederland vs. Vidor (couldn't resist)

last team with the ball didn't win it last year!

looking forward to seeing this

In all honesty, over the span of this current 5 year Nederland win streak, png honestly had as good of a team as Nederland 4 of the 5 years (2012 being the lone exception)...Nederland has simply found a way to win these games...I have a theory about that, but I will keep that to myself for the time being...coaching plays a role, but it's not like png has a poor coaching staff; those guys do a good job...Nederland has just had a little something that gets them over the top in this rivalry recently
-
if I have Lebron, I am just gonna throw the fade to him and tell him to go get it...doubt too many 6-8 guys with his hops will be playing in a HS game.
This thread is all nice nice because png can't talk any noise until they figure out how in the heck to beat Nederland...lot's of head scratchin' going on over there...its' called cautious optimism...png knows they have the horses to win this year and that they should win this year, but they also know that has been the case more than a few times over the past 5 years...the Dogs will bring the fight to them, that's for sure...looking for a good one...I will save my prediction for later in the week
-
Soulja, you are better than this... I have always respected your opinion but it appears to me now that you are just getting tired of losing to Nederland...stop with the "ifs"....the Dogs won, plain and simple and Krautz was better than you thought and better than you want to give credit for...admit you lost, move on...it seems you guys ought to have something to be concerned with this week as well...as for Nederland, time for a little MCM...I'm ready...Indians should be favored, but that could be said for many of the last 5
-
Probably lower scoring than most think...vidor is going to want to take the air out of the ball and shorten the game and Nederland's defense may give into that a bit...I'm thinking the Dog D will bend but not break, the pirates commit too many turnovers/penalties and the Nederland offense eventually takes this one over.
Dogs 28
vidor 20

Apparently, plusone was deprived of attention as a child (or maybe still is)...I love those that beg for respect...they fail to realize that the best way to earn is it to win consistently and without blowing your own horn...I always told my son when he played this...if you are good, you don't need to tell anyone else, they will know it and respect you for that fact
-
Crosby should beat Nederland...they have a load of returners and are state ranked...Nederland has a young squad...IMO, the Dogs have nothing to lose in this one...if history serves, when Nederland has a young team, they struggle early and improve as the season progresses...I expect a similar outcome this season...playing a strong Crosby team early only helps prepare them for the district race and the playoffs

I am a HUGE Cowboy fan, but not a fan of this signing to begin with...ever heard of the saying "if you play with babies, you get baby poop on your hands"...this is that example

I have never seen a team conduct a "flopapalooza" quite like Dallas...it really is ridiculous and tis seems to be a epidemic across the NBA...something has to be done about the "floppers"...the Rockets are not totally innocent either, but Dallas takes it to a new level

barring a comeback, WOS will look back at this as one that got away...so many opportunities to put this away...cmon, WOS, finish this thing strong and win this thing!
-
Of course they don't mind sharing it...it's the best thing anyone has managed to pull off in 4 years!
Congrats to both teams on a great season and for giving us one hell of a game earlier this season...that central/Nederland game was one for the ages -
-
Nederland 49
Lee 6
And I can tell you it could be more but Neumann is classy and won't run up the score on people. You are correct in that...I remember a game against Lumberton 2 years ago where he pulled the starters for the entire 2nd half and never attempted one pass in the second half...hopefully, this game gives Nederland a chance to go at it hard for a half and then play everyone in the 2nd half and rest some lingering injuries...not saying that is what will happen, just that it would be nice...too much at stake to take anyone for granted
-
The Sparks kid is a tremendous player but don't let stats alone rule your judgement about who is the best overall...schemes vary drastically, escpecially in high school and that can contribute to big numbers...others may play in run heavy schemes but still be very effective receivers.
Again, this is in no way a slight to Sparks...the kid is one hell of a football player and deserves to be in the discussion
-
if png can avoid a MCM hangover, they should win this one fairly easily...close early before pulling away a bit in the second half...45-28
-
On that 4 th down play he should have run for it, would have gotten first down. Didnt like him trying to force it. I'm not sure why he was so off in first half, that wasn't the type of play I have seen hI'm do. I think he is one of the best deep ball throwers on the district. He woke up on second half. You have to bring it all four quarters. Even though it was a loss I still think it was one hell of a game.
Well, he ran for it on the last play and that didn't work either so not sure what the correct response/play woudl have been.
Way ahead of the game, but I see Central taking a close one...I think their speed is going to be hard for png to handle although I can see Central struggling to stop png as well...

I will admit that I have a bias here being a Nederland fan, so there is my disclaimer, but here is my point...I really care very little about the all time record and what happened 30 plus years ago...I can relate to this as a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys...I love the Cowboys and I pull for and watch them every weekend, but my days of calling it a great franchise are over....we haven't won anything over 20 years except for a couple of playoff games...as much as I love the Cowboys, they are no longer a great NFL team...I refer to the same logic when people remind me of the all-time record of png/Nederland...I am far more interested in what happens in the here and now than anything that occurred years ago...as I mentioned before, this century/last 15 years, Nederland is 12-3 against png...to me, that makes it a great time to be a Bulldog with regards to this rivalry and I'm gonna enjoy it while we are in it.
Best of luck to both teams tonight...this really is one of the best experiences for all of these kids and the communities...there really is nothing like a little MCM...hoping for an injury free, hard fought, close game
