PlayActionPass got a reaction from H-D BOBCAT 55 in A disturbing trend on the board that I hope doesn't continue this weekend
Oh, you would be surprised. Yes, all coaches want to win. But, most coaches want to win their way. I have seen way too many coaches lose because they are too bull headed to change or evolve or even consider that another offense or defense might be better suited to the kids they have.

I am going to agree with this post on one hand and disagree with it on the other.
Yes, we should all be respectful of the coaches in this area, because all of them have paid their dues and earned the opportunity to lead their respective programs how they see fit. They were hired to do a job, and that job is to produce the best quality football teams they possibly can.
Now, with that being said, healthy, productive criticism is sometimes warranted and necessary. Coaches are not gods, they are not omnipotent and without faults. Sometimes they have their own agenda and do not make decisions that are in the best interest of the kids as a whole. When these times arise, I think it is our right as observers to point these issues out.
High School football is about the kids, the schools and the communities. Sometimes, coaches put their own agendas in front  of the best interest of the kids, schools and communities. Those coaches need to be exposed for what they are and this public forum is sometimes the best place to educate the masses on these issues.

I know this all so very well as my stepson Chopper only touched the ball 4 or 5 tImes a game and my boys now are talented and don't touch the ball on offense and are under used. Maybe I am the one they don't care for but my kIds work hard year In and year out and others just show up and get all kInds of opportunities. These coaches are makIng It real easy for them to just concetrate on baseball for next season I tell you. I'm so glad God has a plan for theIr lIves. I don't care who knows thIs but the truth Is the truth.

Yes they really did. I had the pleasure of coaching him In LIttle League and saw his ability then. I also say he will play on Sundays. Coaches come and go but never realize that some of us just may know their skills a little better. Good luck Rodney  Randle.

I don't mind being questioned on my motivation for anything.
I may not be in a position to judge a particular situation like the one you are referencing. But, I can speak from a position of authority on the overall concept of questioning a coach.
Coaches get in this business knowing that every decision they make will be questioned. And those that rise to the top have justification for all of their decisions. And the great ones are able to field all questions without trouble, because they know that the decisions they made were done with the best interest of the team in mind.

I for one understand what you are saying, but this is a opinion board. There are no problems in praising these programs, and their leaders. I do not believe in talking down on any kids, because that's what they are kids. There are many things we see and hear dealing with the programs as well, I feel that hey if they can receive praise they can or should accept criticism as well. How many watch college and pro sports and when your team is struggling makes comments. This is no different just our opinion and as long as we leave kids out it shouldn't be a problem. The way for a coach to build a bond in his community, is to be part of his community. If his job comes down to this board comment, he should have made adjustments to his contract. All in all I understand but even head coaches have made opinions.

Healthy constructive criticism is one thing. Questioning calls or even position decisions in the heat of a game is not the problem.  The problem is when it graduates to coaches being accused of, as you put it, having an agenda that conflicts with the good of the program.
I really do appreciate that you and others see this as a place to go to see that whatever problem you have with a coach is brought into the open.  The problem with that is that bringing the problem in the open here accomplishes nothing.  We at SETXsports have no decision making ability and, quite frankly, neither do the posters that are here.  In other words, there may be some education that occurs, but if there is truly a problem, those that need to be educated, the powers that be in a particular school district, are usually not.  That can only be accomplished by approaching them directly privately or by attending a school board meeting and addressing the issue publicly. And if the problem is truly there, I think it your duty to pursue it in that manner so that the kids get what they need.

PlayActionPass got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in 22-5A vs 21-5A playoff match ups
El Guapo, what many fail to realize, the biggest negative in running the Slot-T as an offense is the effect it has on your defense. The defense becomes a very good run stopping team because they see it everyday. But, the kids don't see the passing game on a regular basis and when the kids are running the scout team for the defense they usually don't run very good (precise) routes and the QB does not throw it that well so the secondary suffers. It may not be personnel, it may just be a product of the system in place.

All of this banter back and forth about who is faster, who has the better defense, who is going to do what is fun to listen to, but ultimately who wins this game will come down to which team has the best football players (not athletes or track stars) and which teams coaches do the best job in preparation and play calling during the game. I give the overall advantage to Nederland on which team has the best football players. I also think Nederland will do a better job in preparation and play calling. Home field advantage does exists and Nederland is a tough place to win for anybody, add in the fact that this is Central's first game on grass and you end up with a formula that says Nederland wins.
