Actually, Silsbee has beaten LCM also and regards to WOS, who hasn't beaten them? I wouldn't consider them a quality win. None of this matters, it all comes down to when HJ and Silsbee play each other. Besides, nobody thinks HJ is a joke, this thread was put up as a joke.

I have to laugh at this comment. Texas among many other schools have welcomed " bad attitude " players into their programs. Is it not possible for some of these student athletes that we have seen get in trouble with the law have bad attitudes from the start. I had heard how one player in particular, that just happens to be from P.A. that got busted at Texas, wasn't the greatest of people when Texas signed him. He had already had some run ins with the law but Texas took him anyway. Trust me, big named schools across the country lower their standards when it comes to landing a big time recruit.

News flash, the coaches do have a say so on what officials they get. Maybe not who they want but they can say who they don't want. I know plenty of officials personally who have told me this team or that team will not let them call their games. Sometimes it's just a matter of personality and sometimes it's about past games called. The coaches sign a request form before the season starts stating who they do not want calling their games. It's done every year. Look, my comments have only been posted to just get a rise out of one certain person. That person has yet to take the bait, so I'll apologize to whomever I offended and leave it at that.

I totally agree with HJ being #1. They are undefeated, defending state champs, and just knocked off the supposedly #1 team, Chapel Hill. The Hawks deserve their ranking. What bothers me is Silsbee not even being in the top 20. The Tigers are at least a top 15 team, they have proven over the last 3 years in 3A with 2 regional final apperances and a 3rd round apperance. This year is no different, they would beat at least half of the teams in the top 20. No respect at all. Good thing the polls mean nothing.

This was not the first time these two teams has played this year. LaVega blewout China Springs in district. Obviously, China springs made some adjustments and came out on top this time. If you WOS people are wanting to know how they did it, China Springs is a passing offense, they throw every down. That's something that WOS is just not capable of doing, that's not their style of play nor does it fit their personel. Apples and oranges IMO.

I'll be supporting Dayton, but picking Highland Park.

Since it's at Orangefield, I'll take the Bobcats by 2, 56-54, win it at the charity stripe.

Like I said in another post, HJ is the better team over Chapel Hill. Their #1 ranking IMO is not all that special. I even believe Silsbee, who is unranked( but should be) is just as good if not better than Chapel Hill. The Hawks are the defending State champs, that alone is enough to make them the team to beat. But, HJ is also very good, they are playing even more as a team than last year. Not having Donahoe could be a blessing, but I am inclined to think that anytime you don't have a player of that caliber any longer, you will miss him at sometime. We'll see who steps up down the stretch in clutch time like Ryan did so many times. Good luck Hawks.

Great win for the Hawks. I had watched some of the earlier games and I felt all along that HJ was the better team over Chapel Hill. That #1 ranking means nothing. Congrats HJ, keep the streak alive! ( at least until you face my Tigers )

First of all, how do you know I wasn't there? Secondly, look at the free throw attempts, 29 for Orangefield, 7 for Silsbee, if that's not one sided, what is? A team that goes to the line 4 times more than the other, that team is getting the calls, plain and simple.

Obviously Orangefield dictated the pace and style of this game( or at least they had help in doing it, is what I have been told about the place) A win is a win. I look for Silsbee to sweep Orangefield a little easier come district time.

This is such a ridiculous statement. Of course Silsbee is in the same league as HJ. Even with their state championship team last year, Silsbee was right there with HJ, took OT in the third game to decide it. This year is the same. If you look at some common opponents( I really don't care for that myself ) both Silsbee and HJ had easy wins over East Chambers and a 7 point win for HJ over LCM and a 10 point win for Silsbee over LCM. Right now, I believe these teams to be playing pretty evenly, but we will see come district time.

Just what do you mean by that comment? I thought the score was pretty indicative of how it was played. A one touchdown victory is about how this should be considering Waller outgained Dayton 344-248 and had more first downs, 19-13. I believe the better team won, Dayton made the crucial plays when they needed them. There was no domination here, if that's what you are implying.
