  1. I sense a lot of jealousy in this post. Now you're questioning his skills. then you brought up College play on another level. We said nothing about this. We're talking about now. I'm sure if the L-train had a blue chipper QB, you would let us know about him. You have Beard and you talk about him. Heck, you don't need to do that because I seen first hand what he could do. He's a beast. Then you are making excuses to why you will lose the game. Because players will not play... this game don't mean as much to Lumberton... rest starters... Blah blah. I'm sure this guy does not represent thr 'real' Raider Nation... : Good post Soulja. My sentiments exactly. Lumberton wants to win this game just as badly as Silsbee does, trust me.
  2. Silsbee returns 3 starters in Hill, Stallworth and Jones. They also return two players that started several games in Thomas and Lane. Lane was a starter before he went down with a knee injury halfway through district. He was badly missed in the playoffs. Also Bolton returns who saw lots of time off the bench. Silsbee will start Sr. '5"9 Hill, Jr. '6"3 Lane, Jr. '6"4 Stallworth, Sr. '6"7 Thomas, and Sr. '6"8 Jones. They will be much bigger in the starting lineup but will lack the outside shooting that Robinson, Walters and Byars provided. They will only be about 7-8 deep, not the 10 deep that they have been in recent years. Look for Silsbee to score more in the 50's and 60's than the 70's and 80's that they have done the last couple of years. Their defense will be much better in the half court. Will they be as strong as last year? I think they can but this will be a very different type Silsbee team than what has been the last few years.
  3. I was told that Fox 4, Sheffield Productions, was doing the Rice Bowl, East Chambers vs. Hamshire-Fannett. I have you heard something different?
  4. Chad, it could be worse my friend. Isn't this weekend the 1 year anniversary of Ike?
  5. The series stands at 15-5, in favor of Silsbee. These two schools have not played each other since the '03 season. They were scheduled to play each other last year, but Ike took care of that. It is my understanding that when Silsbee dropped down to 3A in '04, the then coach of Lumberton, Fuller, chose not to schedule Silsbee. When Alvin got the job, he got the game back on the schedule but had to wait a couple of years because of the schedule that was made prior to him getting the job. Silsbee has not defeated Lumberton since 2000. Silsbee won 14 of the first 15 games played between these two, but Lumberton has won 4 of the last 5.
  6. Who are the Yellow Jackets ??? ??? Look back about 45 years and you'll see that the Silsbee team used to be the Yellow Jackets, they didn't change their name to the Tigers until the after the seniors from Chance-Loeb, now Lumberton, started going through their senior year in L-Town. Oh, I just remembered something, who decided this contest would be called the Village Creek Classic anyway. It used to be called the Village Creek Shootout when we played regular. raideroldtimer, you are sadly mistaken. Silsbee has never, ever been the Yellow Jackets. I have been living most of my 45 years right here in Silsbee and I have never heard anyone claim that Silsbee were the Yellow Jackets up until you have made this claim. My parents graduated from Silsbee. My Dad in '52, my mother in '55, and both told me that they were the Tigers the whole time they were in school. My mother started in Silsbee schools in '43 and she told me that they were always the Tigers. She said that the old stadium that used to be where the First Baptist Church sits now, was called Tiger Stadium. She told me that she went to school with folks from Chance/Loeb and they were the Tigers then also. I do not know where you are getting your info from, but it is totally false. Silsbee has been the Tigers for at least 80 years now and from what I know and have been told from some longtime Silsbee folks, they have always been the Tigers.
  7. 5. Hudson/Jasper 4. New Waverly 3. Cleveland 2. Silsbee 1. HJ Whoa, wait a minute, spinks. I thought you said Silsbee was the best team in state last year? ;D
  8. DV, you were the first to bring in the comparison of the two regions. BTW, you hurt my feelings. I know that you and Nos know more than I do when it comes to basketball, but I do think I bring something to the table. I can't believe that you don't respect my opinion on these matters.
  9. I certainly don't have a dog in this hunt, but I can't help myself from posting on a certain comment that has been made. The comment about Friendswood winning the battle but losing the war against Dayton makes zero sense. Dayton losing to Friendswood 5 straight times is all that matters when considering the two teams. Saying you went further in the playoffs has no relevance to what went on between the two teams on the field. Since the two teams go to the playoffs in different divisions, it would be the same as the Dayton fans saying that WOS wins the battle between the two of you but Dayton wins the war because the Broncos have advanced further in the playoffs than what WOS has. Friendswood has earned the right to have bragging rights over Dayton because what they have done on the field against the Bronco team. If the two teams were to advance to the playoffs in the same division, then that would be different but the fact would still remain that Friendswood won the game.
  10. Yes, Carrington left for Atascosita for better football exposure. Cleveland will miss him both on the field and on the court.
  11. I guess for arguments sake, I'll throw in Silsbee's Jeremy Johnson's numbers: 395 total yards 5 TD's
  12. I give up. Re-title the thread, please.
  13. Couldn't agree more.
  14. Oh I do know DV. As I have stated many times before, I know that you know basketball, never doubted that for one second.
  15. Well, actually it has lasted about 6 pages now, with 99% of the talk about Region III teams.
  16. Here is the author of this thread and what he was asking folks to comment on. All of the talk has been about Region III teams until you, DV, chimed in with the Region II talk. Again, nobody is disputing the Region II fact, but this thread wasn't about making comparisons of different regions, but to make comparisons and arguments of Region III teams.

  18. But this thread isn't about any other region. It's about Region III. Didn't you read the title of the thread? Nice try DV, stick to topic. AND....I said that region II (Dallas area region) was better, hands down, IMHO....That wasn't talking about Region II, I was comparing it to Region III in 3A.... : : It says that other than two teams in 21-3A, the region is fairly weak.... It should be pretty obvious...Four of the last five 3A State Champions have been from region II...Van (2005), Dallas Roosevelt (2006), Kennedale (2008) and Dallas Madison (2009)....Region II is just better in 3A. DV, no one here is disputing that fact. Region II has shown lately that it is better than Region III. But that region is irrelevant to THIS THREAD!! The thread is about Region III. If you want to compare, start a new thread.
  19. But this thread isn't about any other region. It's about Region III. Didn't you read the title of the thread? Nice try DV, stick to topic.
  20. shooter said it all. Two seniors were the dominate forces last year, but for sure Jasper could not have beaten Waco LaVega or Silsbee without the underclassmen. The Dogs will reload. Think about it. Jasper beat both LaVega and Silsbee WITHOUT Middleton, and he will now be back. j_dog, you of all people know that Jasper doesn't "reload" when it comes to basketball. : what i do know is that when it counted the most, Jasper beat Silsbee. ;D And nobody has disputed that now have they? But reload, c'mon now, who you kidding?

  22. Looks like my Saturday morning headlines from last week are coming true. Well at least one of them. " WOS wins a "closer than normal one" over LCM!!" (Hooks instructs a couple of the "homers" to get out their excuse books) "West Brook eeks out a win over the Jaguars on controversial call late in game" (BMTSoulja seen running across field chasing after officials)
