It's do or die time as the final playoff spot for district 24-1A DII is down to the Burkeville Mustangs and Goodrich Hornets as they will face each other TONIGHT in Kirbyville at 6pm to decide who gets to extend their season and who ends their season. Burkeville (16-8, 9-4) lost for the 3rd time this season to Spurger last night, 49-39, while Goodrich (15-17, 9-4) has now lost 3 in a row after going down to Leggett, 65-40. These two teams split their district games with Burkeville beating Goodrich just last week. The rubber game to decide who gets to go to the playoffs!! Broadcast time will be 5:50 with tip off at 6pm. It will be the battle of the Pirates as the Leggett Pirates will face the Spurger Pirates TONIGHT at Kirbyville High school in a game to decide who gets the #1 seed of district 24-1A DII and a first round bye in the playoffs. Leggett (21-10, 10-3) defeated Goodrich 65-40 in last night's game to clinch a playoff spot while Spurger (22-11, 10-3) took down Burkeville 49-39 last night to advance to the playoffs and set up this #1 seed game. He should get a 7 year deal, not a 10 year deal. That's the issue.

Brackets are set: [Hidden Content] A couple of surprises: Giddings got the 3rd spot out of 23-3A instead of LaGrange. They will play Sealy in the first round, winner to get Silsbee. Lorena won district 19-3A, not Waco LaVega. Lorena will play the winner of Jasper and Bullard. LaVega will play Fairfield in the first round with the winner facing Lufkin Hudson in the second round. Also, Waco Connally got the third spot in that district and not Robinson, like some had expected. They will play Groesbeck in the first round.

I would have to say that these wins are more along the lines of the SLC really not being any good rather than Roc figuring something out. ;) I think it's safe to say if you stress defense in this league, you can win the majority of your games.
