1. I really don't think anyone is argueing that Brian should not be COY, but don't belittle what Laurance has done at Evadale and don't say he is hating on Nederland because that is not the case. It just sounded like this manager dude has a personal axe to grind with Coach L and has nothing to do with who should be COY.
 2. I agree. Missing a regular meet or a non district game for a select sport is okay by me. But district, regional, state meets or any playoff game should not be missed for any select sport. If high school sports are considered just a "past time" and not an "important time", then don't "waste the time". ;)
 3. I agree that Adam Stark should have been on the Super Gold team, but he is not the only local player playing in the TABC all star game.
 4.
AAW-Are these coaches being relieved of their coaching stipend and still teaching? Or are they being relieved of their duties with the district entirely?
It is my understanding that they are relieved of their duties entirely, but I could be mistaken. Silsbee offered early retirement/resign package. 1 or 2 of the coaches did take it and they are included in the cuts.
 5.
Not sure it will be Evans tonight!
I was told it would be, but going back to the first game, it was said that Evans would not pitch against BC or Silsbee in district. I really expect for Evans to pitch tonight. If he does not, that would have him being off 10 days since he last pitched on the 5th.
 6. When I say all sports, this includes girls sports as well. I am not going to list any names just yet.
What makes you think a 1A coach got the job?
Aggie, when will the official announcement be made on the new coach?
Your guess is as good as mine. I was told that the announcement was to have been last Friday, now it's on hold. They have made an offer but according to my source, some "things" have come up. ;)
 8. Due to budget cuts, some local coaching staffs may get trimmed down. Post any info on local staffs that have been or will be cut. This is not just football related, all sports. Silsbee 3 HS coaches cut 2 MS coaches cut (1 took early retirement)
 9. Where has Coach L hated on Nederland? I have not seen him post on this forum. #1 Manager is reaching.
 10. Day's wife is a Texas gal, from Dallas.

 18.
6 college vacancies have filled quicker, do they have national search going on as well? Heard that it might be filled by asst fb coach due to budget issues.  That would help with UOS
Hmmmmm, heard that as well. Also, regarding the HF girls head coach position, a local coach was offered, but then turned it down. Now the job is open again.
 19.
Dickie V, Do your research and realize that Tidwell is the AD now.  Regardless of how much you would like to give credit to Tubbs, it was Tidwell's final decision.  Way to go, Tidwell!  Let's go, Knight!
I agree. Vitale's people should have done more research. But I imagine the Tubbs name was much sexier than Tidwell's for this article.
 20. [Hidden Content] We have seen so many coaching changes in college basketball already. They have taken place at so many schools that are simply looking for success. Everyone is chasing the dream, saying, "Why can't we be the next Butler, VCU or George Mason?" It is also interesting to look at the guys who are getting a second chance on the sidelines. Many times when a coach gets the boot, he has to wait for a long time to get another shot to rejoin the coaching fraternity. It is tough to get another opportunity. Down at Lamar, athletic director Billy Tubbs, a longtime successful coach himself, went out and hired Pat Knight. That came shortly after Knight was let go at Texas Tech. The son of "The General," Robert Montgomery Knight, should have more success at Lamar, where it should be easier to recruit, because he isn't going up against Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Texas A&M and others like he was in Big 12 country. [+] EnlargeJamie Squire/Getty Images Lamar gave Pat Knight a second chance on the sidelines. Let's face reality, Texas Tech was a tough, tough situation. Now Knight can be a contender and a winner. He has a shot to win that league, and you know Knight will work hard. He knows the state of Texas and can recruit down there. I think Tubbs made a very good choice.
