Rivalry dates back to 1922 This will be the 74th meeting between these two schools. Jasper and Silsbee have played each other every year since 1948 (this will be 64th straight year) Jasper leads all time series 42-29-2 Trends: From 1958-1977, Silsbee won 15 of 20 (15-5), winning 9 straight ('60-'68) From 1978-present, Jasper has won 25 of 33 (25-7-1), winning 8 straight ('90-'97) Jasper went 17-2-1 from '78-'97 (85% win ) Since both teams have been in 3A (starting in '04), series is 4-3 in favor of Jasper. Longest win streaks: Silsbee 9 '60-'68 Jasper 8 '90-'97 Biggest blowouts for each team: Jasper '94 won 47-6 Silsbee '67 won 59-0 (note: in '06, Silsbee won 35-0 in a game called with over 8 minutes left in 3rd Q, game called due to storm, Silsbee led 35-0 at half) Highest combined points '07 74 points 40-34 Jasper win Lowest combined points '33 0 points 0-0 tie There have been 22 shutouts in this series. Jasper 11, Silsbee 11.
Not owned but WOS has a better O line than Silsbee! If Lumberton dropped over 400 rushing and Newton had 2 backs go over 100 what do you think this kid will do? Giving you facts bruh! Silsbee's weakness is run defense. Silsbee has to contain him to win. Ill give up 175yds rushing and no TD's.
Again BADSANTA, you are wrong. Your facts are wrong!! And your comparison as well. First you are wrong in comparing WOS's O-line to Silsbee's O-line.( I think to prove the point of who is the better RB between WOS's Lindsey and Jasper's Morrisey, you would need to compare those two O-lines, not Silsbee's ;)) BTW, I'll take Silsbee's O-line against anyone's in district 18-3A and 21-3A. Now if you meant to compare WOS's D-line to Silsbee's D-line, then I might could understand where you are going with the comparison. Now to the other "facts" you stated. Lumberton did not rush for 400 yards against Silsbee. They rushed for 190. Lumberton did pass for 323 though for a total offense of 513. Also, Newton only had 1 player rush over a 100 yards (Shorter had 115). Dean had 89. Silsbee's weakness isn't the run defense like you stated. They are giving up an average of 103.5 rushing yards a game and 164.75 passing yards a game. So it's pretty clear what the weakness is. (if you can call it a weakness). Again Santa, do just a little bit of research before opening that mouth of yours and spewing falsehoods all over the forum. ::) -

SILBEE VS JASPER PREDICTIONS
I'm willing to bet the farm that Jasper back Morresy will get T least 175 yards rushing. I think is the best back in SETX this year not named Justine Twine (QB who doesn't pass). Once Pat Reed gets his arm under control, the passing game will be lethal. Silsbee should feed Spearman the ball 20 times at least this game. Any word on Turk?
Uh, did you not see what WOS RB Britton Lindsey did against Jasper last week? 36 carries, 308 yards and 5 TD's! I'll take Lindsey over Morrisey any day. BTW, Morrisey had 76 yards on 25 carries against WOS, a 3yd average. ;) -

Newton Predictions for the year
AggiesAreWe replied to tim_simmons22's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Whats your opinion on Newton for the season? Are they a good team? Who are their best players? How far will they go? Will anybody hang with them in district? :)
Okay, to answer your questions in order: Yes Shorter and Dean (that Simmons guy is way overrated) ;) depends on how injured Shorter is (4th round with him, 2nd or 3rd without him) Yes -
Back in 1976 there was this guy named Mike Sanchez who made this wicked TD run!! It was at Worsham Field (that's located on North 3rd Street, Silsbee, capacity 25). Sanchez alluded 6 defenders (at least 4 different times), once using a tree, a bush, a bird house pole, and several crawfish holes, to help clear the way to an amazing touchdown run of 40 yards (complete length of the field), to lead his team (3rd Street Ballers) over their arch rivals (2nd Street Stangs) to a victory in the City Block Bowl!! Sanchez finished with 11 TD's in this game (the fore mentioned one the game winner due to "time to come in!!"). It was an amazing game and amazing individual performance to say the least!
