Was told at our meeting last night that due to lack of funds High Island ISD has cancelled all athletic programs.
High Island did scrimmage Orange Community Christian last Saturday. If they were going to cancel all athletics, why even start practicing football and play a scrimmage?
Aggie, is Ozen on Silver's preseason schedule this upcoming season? IF so what gym?
If you are meaning Sigler, I was told that Silsbee will be playing Ozen at Ozen the week after the Fred Williams Classic. -

**SETX STADIUM INFORMATION AND LOCATIONS**

Still do not see how Dayton ISD is getting away with not having an elevator on the home side. I guess the right person hasn't filed a complaint yet. That home side is out of state compliance with the handicap laws. -
College scrimmage to be held at Durley Stadium

Tweet from BE's David Henry: Blinn College will scrimmage Louisiana College at Durley stadium on the West Brook campus Thursday, August 23rd @ 3:30 pm. Think I'll go by and check this out on my way to Winnie for Silsbee's scrimmage with East Chambers. Gives me a chance to see a former Tiger, Jeremy Johnson, perform with his new team.

I could care less about a jumbotron. Turf would be nice particularly how the field conditions at Tiger Stadium has been over the past few years. It gives you a lot of options, playoff games, etc. Tiger Stadium field condition is very good, did a lot of work on it this past year. But one monsoon and a game played in it would destroy it for another year. Silsbee was to get turf a few years ago. Had a cost study done and had a company come out and measure for turf. But then some other financial issues came up in the district and it had to be shelved for the time being. Now just waiting on a rich donor to buy it for us. ;)

Silsbee basketball is football, or vice versa
What happens when Silsbee wins a few playoff FB games? Will they have enough to suit up a varsity basketball squad?
They will probably pull up a few 9th and 10th grade players to fill those games. -
When I attended Silsbee's football scrimmage against Newton last Friday night, I was amazed at how many of Silsbee's varsity basketball players were playing football. Eight of the 10 returning varsity players are playing football with 6 playing significant roles: Reed (starting QB) Holmes (starting WR) Elam (starting CB) Jackson (starting WR) Barnes (WR) Scott (WR/RB) Also, several of the potential players to fill out the varsity roster are playing football. Looks as though Dobbins and Wilson will be the only varsity players to be basketball only. Which brings me to this question. I am curious to know how many "basketball only" players will the other 21-3A teams have on their varsity squads? If you know, please post. side note: Jontell Jones, the young man who transferred to Silsbee from Irving McArthur last year and had to play JV, has moved back to Irving and will finish his senior year back at McArthur. I want to wish Jontell all the best. He is a good kid and fantastic player.

Predicting scrimmages? NO ONE WINS OR LOSES SCRIMMAGES!!!!!!!
Says the person who posted a thread about the WOS Nederland SCRIMMAGE. Did i ever say anything about winning or losing? No i did not. Don't get your panties in a wad AAW.
I posted a news article about the scrimmage. Never asked for predictions. Just what kind of predictions are you asking for? I predict that each team's 1st and 2nd teams will play. I predict that there will be some running, passing, blocking and tackling. I predict that each team will play hard, each team's coaches will be happy and mad. A team or both will score a TD. I predict there will be fans in the stands. Kids will be playing under the stands. Old men will be reminiscing about their football days. Women will be gossiping. Some fans for both teams will be yelling at the coaches and the officials. I also predict that some fools will predict a win or loss on this thread before the scrimmage will take place Thursday night. -

Newton/Silsbee Scrimmage Thread/Post comments here!
AggiesAreWe replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
ya know newton is a lot better than that.Thats on two weeks of practice in scrimmage they givin new guys chances to fill positions, silsbee wouldnt stand a chance late in the season. Also if you look at last years rushing stats you will see that we dominated, compelling over 5000 yards between all three RETURNING starters. And fort the kirbyville fans thats dogging newton apparently ur in a dream cause kirbyville would be better off not stepping of the bus at newton this year their wasting their time but they gotta play. Newton will put up big numbers on offense. Newton 48 Kirbyville 12, we might score more though. And btw you should be noticing whos usually the only team left in Southeast Texas come playoff time around here is Newton. We should get way more credit. We will go at least three rounds in the playoffs lets see what ya do lol
Just two weeks of practice? Isn't that the same for Silsbee? Also, Silsbee was trying out new players in positions as well. So Silsbee wouldn't stand a chance later in the year? That wasn't the case last year. ::) From what I saw in that scrimmage, it wouldn't matter when these two teams actually played a game, Silsbee would most likely win. It was obviously evident in the performance of these two teams in the scrimmage Friday night. Silsbee has the better team and it showed. -
BH/Central/HF Scrimmage thoughts
AggiesAreWe replied to BHFAN's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
From what I saw of Hamshire-Fannett last week against Deweyville and Kirbyville, they won't be bringing much. I look for both Barbers Hill and Central to have their way with the Horns. -
