Due to some extenuating circumstances beyond my control, there will be no broadcast of tonight's game between Silsbee and Beaumont West Brook. I apologize for this inconvenience. We will be back to broadcasting Silsbee Tiger basketball this Friday night. Please use this thread to post score updates of this game.

I have seen both teams play. Kelly has the advantage in guard play but PNG has the advantage with the inside game with the '6"5 Smith. PNG has overall size advantage. Coaching is dead even. Really like Coach Ables and Coach Knowles and how they coach and prepare their teams. PNG has played much better as the season has progressed. Saw them earlier in the year and things did not look too good. Watched them this past week at Nederland tourney an the Indian guard play has improved. Kelly looked very good at the Huntington tourney when I saw them there. If Kelly can dictate their pace of play which is to get it up and down the floor quickly and eliminate the size advantage PNG will have, I see the Bulldogs winning this one. Going to be closer than most folks think. I got Kelly by 3.

You will also have to question the state level since HJ has been there a couple of times since 2007.
I'm only referring to your recent weaker schedules since that time.
We have a counterpart in our district to whom you offer respect for their strong schedule as often as you offer disdain for the HJ schedule. Compare the results over the last six years and convince me that strength of schedule matters (strength, that is, in the eyes of Da Dove) We should also be mindful of the HJ victory over Kingwood Park at their weak scheduled tourney last year. Kingwood Park is a name that should be meaningful to the Panthers.
If you are speaking of Silsbee, then one could say it "may" have mattered in the head-to-head match up between the two teams. Last 6 seasons Silsbee is 10-7 against HJ, last 4 seasons 7-3. I honestly do not think the schedule has mattered much, just more wins for one and less for the other. -

Great Job To All The 21-3A All District Players
AggiesAreWe replied to CATS80's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i brought this up a few weeks ago on how they do all district picks nowadays , but i didnt get an answer . i remember back in the day if you were mvp of the district and you played running back you were automatically 1st team running back and the stats you racked up was worthy of you being on that 1st team . i see nowadays if you make a superlative you are not included on the 1st team or second team . the question is who was the best qb in 21-3a ? i am a hamshire alumni and im really happy too see dante smith make 1st team qb , im just curious on how they do their voting nowadays , also glad too see the freshmen k king make newcomer of the year (something we didnt have back in the day ) and other hamshire players make an all district team .
Your district MVP and offensive and defensive MVP's are considered 1st team. To answer your question about who was the best QB in the district, well it was the district MVP in Silsbee QB Patrick Reed. Reed finished with over 1100 yards rushing and 2500 yards passing for over 3600 yards of total offense on the year. -
