Hitchcock (33) @ Hamshire-Fannett (35) - FINAL
AggiesAreWe replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
HF is very good in the skill positions. QB, RB and WR are all very solid. QB is much more mobile than the QB of the last 2 years. He can hurt you with his legs as much as with his arm. But, sometimes his legs get him in trouble. Took some big losses trying to avoid pressure instead of throwing it away. That was some inexperience showing thinking he can always make a play. RB are solid. They have their own Swiss Army knife in Pirtle. He lined up as RB, WR and sometimes as QB in Wildcat. He is their ultimate weapon. WR group is good. No real game breakers but very solid pass catchers. OL is definitely the weakness of the offense. Hitchcock got plenty of pressure and actually did a good job against the run other than a few blown assignments and QB scrambles. All in all, HF offense is very potent. Defensively, HF is good in the secondary but the front 7 needs improving. Got a little pressure on the QB but Hitchcock OL is not good. Hitchcock never really tried to run consistently to see how well HF was against the run. I can see a team with a good OL being able to run the ball against HF with success. Secondary is solid. Pretty much the same group at WR is what you have in secondary. Very good skill wise. HF is very well coached. They have those kids prepared. If OL improves and defensive front gets better, HF will definitely be in position to defend their district title. -

Garcia was scheduled to get the start today but they are bumping up Framber and he will start. Nothing wrong with Garcia according to the manager. Very curious as to why the move to have Framber pitch today.

I'll be on the sidelines for this one.

Why do you go man on that down? smh

Astros up 11-0. Rangers using Duran to try to get final out. Houston should send a non pitcher in to pitch the 9th and save an arm.

Yep and Clemson came back and took care of business.
-
That was a gutty 6 innings pitched for Brown. 0 runs, 4 hits, 8 K's. 108 pitches

Control the clock?? Isn't that what Hardin does? I guess that game will be done in an hour and a half. I'm taking Hardin in that one. -
So if Clemson ends up losing to Troy, does that take the shine off the LSU win last week? Should LSU drop in the rankings?

Little Cypress-Mauriceville (14) @ Silsbee (24) - FINAL
AggiesAreWe replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
Maybe. Pass rush will help. Hitchcock put some pressure last night. HF run game was what hurt Hitchcock. They were determined not to be beat by the pass last night. I think by the time these two play (Oct. 10), Silsbee secondary will have figured it out. -

Silsbee QB Johnson's numbers for this game: Passing 18-22, 187 yards, TD 2 INT's Rushing 18 carries, 71 yards 2 TD's Total 40 plays, 258 yards, 3 TD's RB Hafford 25 carries, 150 yards -
Just a little. But given the fact that Nederland beat WO-S, that game last week doesn't make Lumberton look all that bad. Also, I was told WB didn't play that well. Played down a bit.

The two surprises to me was Livingston beating Needville and Liberty playing a one point game with Splendora. Everything else was pretty much chalk.

All correct. Silsbee did stop WO-S district win streak the next season (2009) and won the DC. -

I can remember a Silsbee QB mistakenly taking a knee instead of spiking the ball at WO-S that cost the Tigers a win. Silsbee had the ball at the Mustang 1 yard line with the clock winding down, score tied 7-7, and instead of spiking the ball, the young man took a knee and time expired due to Silsbee not having in timeouts left. WO-S ended up winning the game in OT, 14-7. That was in 2008. I know for a fact the Silsbee coaching staff was telling the QB to spike it. Was quite clear from our broadcast booth. Saw several giving the signal to do so. QB just got confused. It happens. I don't know that the QB was confused in this case but it's very possible. I just don't think you can automatically blame the coaches on that situation. Sounds like there are other things that cost WO-S this game, not just the kneel down. -
