WS looked pretty good last night too, scoring three times. But then again it was Huntington. Looking forward to next Friday! The adrenaline mixed with all the testosterone makes it difficult to work in an office full of women who could care less about sports!

Yup, had some internal issues there, I believe they got those fixed now.
Oh ok. Saw where they had got a new HC.

Hemphill seems like it has went off the deep-end ever since the year Twine transferred away from there to Falls City.
They got themselves a good HC/AD in Vanya and they will be on the upswing if they give him time. He took WS to the state semis in 02-03. My nephew was a DE/LB on that team. Don't know about this year, though....

DeMarie Smith, SR ATH West Sabine. He's a Swiss Army Knife on the field for the Tigers, lining up in at least 3 different positions on offense and is a lockdown CB on defense. Did I mention he runs back kicks and punts too (with 4.5 speed)? As usual with the great ones, though, it will all depend on how fast the WS o-line can gel.....

i can see that. Just hope his supporting cast helps carry the load. WS has a freshman OL/DL named Seth Stephens (if the name sounds familiar, his older brother played four years on our playoff teams) who is 6'3, 245 and he just turned 15 (and still growing, according to his parents whom I see at the grocery store where I work). From what I've heard he's raw, but they're already working on his footwork and upper body strength. If he develops, he could be a LOAD to handle up front.

West Sabine is moving into a new district, 12-2A Division 1, which I can safely say I have no clue about! How do you all see it shaking out?

wow. that's good for season after next though. and you are right......Stark in my opinion is the best thing that has ever happened to Hardin athletics. Hope we can keep him for the duration of his career.
Yes, y'all got a good one in Stark. He'll turn the program around in a heartbeat for you, and you won't find a more intense guy out there! He will fight tooth and nail for his guys as well, as I personally witnessed at West Sabine on more than one occasion....

3 home and 3 away games in a row? That's a pretty terrible job of scheduling
It's a non Pineland Day year for West Sabine, so we have SEVEN away games (six in a row, so if you count the bye we won't play at home for nearly two months). We will be logging the miles in this district, as the away games are @Lovelady (10/7), @Centerville (10/14) and @Deweyville (10/28).

My son met Coach Stark when he first came to Hardin in the spring of 2015. He said he loved the guys intensity and would've loved to have had the chance to play for him.
Intensity is the right word for Coach Stark. I got to know him at West Sabine for the four years I covered the team for the local paper, and he's a good one that y'all need to have stick around awhile. I think that barring injuries this year y'all could compete for a playoff spot. Don't know the roster, but I know the coach well, and even with this being a murderous district, win, lose or draw I guarantee three things from a Tod Stark team: physicality, intensity and attention to detail. They may end up being outscored, but they will never be outplayed or outhustled.....

Knowing Coach Stark (Hardin HC) from his days at West Sabine I feel that, barring injuries, he will have them competing for the fourth spot out of this district in year two. Not saying they'll get it, but they'll be in the mix. This is indeed a tough district that I know absolutely nothing about, but I know Stark will have his kids ready to compete every Friday night and whoever they play had better buckle their chinstraps, for it will be physical. Do I see them beating La Marque, Hitchcock and East Chambers? Not yet, but there are FAR too many unknowns to be going too far out on a limb to make a prediction.....

he for sale? I have an extra room at the house and a spare vehicle he can have
Sorry! He's not for sale nor trade lol. Did I mention he also runs a 4.4 to 4.45 in the 40? I remember when he was a sophomore (2 years ago) he laid out the HD DE who was like 6'5, 250-260 or so (don't know the kids exact weight but he was a monster) right in front of me on WS's sidelines. He was giving up 7 inches in height and about 100 lbs. in weight and he just absolutely de-cleated the HD kid, who was a great player in his own right...

SR DeMarie Smith for WS: RB/CB in football (3,000 all purpose yards and 30 total TD), PG in basketball (avg. 20-25 ppg.), SS/P in baseball (makes the spectacular plays at short look easy). Valedictorian of his class as well, I believe.

With all do respect to West Sabine...there is a reason the only loss Beckville has this year is when they had to send their JV to a district game in order to still get to play at Minute Maid. They are very, very good. They've beaten 4As and below, all comers. They've only scored less than double digits 6 times this year, and 3 of those were tournament games on a time limit. Are they beatable? Absolutely, any high school team is. But there might not be a more complete baseball team in 2A. And for whoever said West Sabine made some errors that allowed some runs. Well that is what happens when the ball is put in play just about every at bat. It takes a great defensive effort from all nine positions to beat a team like Beckville.
And if your "ace in the hole" is who I think it is...that makes you that much more prone to defensive mistakes when he pitches.
It is and you are right that is the one drawback, Tigerheart. Gotta go out with all guns blazin now. He is the only one of our pitchers whom Beckville hasn't seen yet, so there's that element. And he does have nasty stuff when he's right....

Evadale did the same thing when they played. Pulling for West Sabine. Play hard boys!
Thanks bro, we are gonna need it! We got a secret weapon Beckville doesn't know of, though. They've only seen four of our five pitchers throw this year. The one they haven't seen has electric stuff and when he on he's untouchable. You all probably seen him when we played in y'alls tournament.
-
They were a buzz saw tonight let me tell you.... Still we could've played much better. Two early errors in the first and second gave them 4 or 5 unearned runs....

11-2 Beckville Final..

11-2 Beckville bottom 7. #9 on the hill for Beckville has been a buzz saw all night. Got him at 11 K's..

I'd say 10 2a D1 is pretty stacked, with 4 of the top ten teams in the same district......
