WS 12 Cushing 2
Final
WP Garrett Brown
In his first AB in a month WS OF Reshod Williams goes deep on the first pitch of the game...... -
West Sabine Reshod Williams (SR) lead off shot vs. Cushing (2)
-
WS/Cushing game one has been moved to Groveton tonight at 6. Haven't heard anything on game two yet.
-
Somebody at the UIL needs their heads examined over this alignment. Putting our district in region 4 is absurd. Late nights for students caused by long travel times, not to mention making it hard on working parents to get off in time to make the games. Hopefully, they will rethink this at the next realignment.
I agree. Sounds like the travel for both teams is absolutely absurd. Flatonia is in south Texas, right? I can't see how the cut off line is district 24 for region 3. Hopefully the UIL will address this, but I wouldn't hold my breath....... -
Garrett Brown, P/IF West Sabine will be playing in this......
-
Friday can't get here soon enough! Daniel said they had a great practice yesterday, and a good - albeit rain shortened one today. We played #1 tough on a slippery field, with a bad day at the plate - losing 7-2. The boys are not worried about rankings, they are peaking at just the right time. A one-gamer means anything can happen, but the boys will be ready. I am ready for Friday.
You are right. In a one gamer anything can happen! Everything has to be airtight but relaxed at the same time. Weimar must only have one pitcher because I've seen on here that y'all have a few that can bring it...... -
20-9 colmesneil
Any HR's? Congrats on the win! Represent our District 24 well against Douglass........ -
@Gary 730 may 9
Douglass fence got knocked down from a storm last week
Oh ok.. -
Gary 11 Colmesneil 8.
According to Twitter game 3 is in Gary at 7:30 tomorrow
It says 2:00 pm Saturday at Douglass on the schedule on here. Might have been changed though..... -
Game 2 about to get underway. Sr. Colby Thompson on the mound for the Rebels.
17 runs in the last two innings? Wow! -
Would it be safe to say that the winner of this series will have their hands full in the next round?
-
I have heard that, I kind of like it the way it is. Work hard, get the bye.
I like that too, but there are pros and cons either way.... -
Evadale will get the third place out of Iola, Mumford and Burton. They play a round-robin on Monday and Tuesday. I think Iola won the flip and gets the winner of Burton and Mumford.
Oh, ok. We won't know who we get until this weekend(5/7,8,& 9). Got the bye. Has anyone heard whether or not the UIL will be eliminating the bye system and be taking 4 teams in each sport at the 2A level next season? Have heard that rumor is why I ask...... -
Future is looking bright for Evadale.
Who does it look like y'all will be playing in the area round? How about Evadale? Good luck to both teams in the playoffs...... -
I have a crush on making HD fans eat their words...but it's no secret.
It would all stop if you HD posters would stop talking HD up to something they're not. Being supportive is one thing...but some of you guys are delusional beyond belief. I'll admit it's gotten better...but still a long way to go.
Your buddy comes on here talking about how crazy good HD is at the beginning of every sport...then disappears by the end of the season. Just about the time HD's one true flaw is revealed...mediocrity.
I'm just here to remind you guys about those comments and how dumb they were. I know you remember all those things that were said when HD and Big Sandy both were going in undefeated.. You know.. District playoff hopes, college prospects, etc.. And you will never live down the 4 horsemen comment. Not while I have a user name on here. It's just too easy haha.
You know, just because you think you can say I told you so doesn't always necessarily mean you should, man. Move on. -
think they can beat Douglas?
I can 100% guarantee that they are focused on their second round opponent first, whomever that may be. It will take an A+ effort in all facets of the game but yes I believe they can beat Douglass if they get another shot at them. This in NO way a slight to Douglass, for they are once again a quality team bordering on a baseball machine at the 2A level. If this does transpire, it will be the third year in a row that WS would have had to play the #1 team in the state in the playoffs..... -
No, Reshod is not back, but he is expected back by WS's first playoff game. Reshod is a great athlete but not the best baseball player WS has, however his absence changes the entire complexity of the team. It's strange but I guess that's what great athletes do for a team.
On a side note, I would like to applaud Garrett Brown for his great perfomance from the the mound last night, Dillon Sepulvado for his perfomance at the plate, and Demarie Smith for being one of the toughest kids I've seen play. That may be what makes this team!! Garrett Brown, Ty Fore, Kirkland Wilson, Demarie Smith, and Reshod Williams are "never give up" players, they get hurt and get up and go at it again and they play with their hearts. 4 of those 5 are seniors and I pray that the younger guys are paying attention and remember the young men that played with heart and try their best to emulate that. We have a great group of young guys coming up but if they dont get after it the way these guys do then they will not have the success this team has had. I'll take a team full of heart over a team full of heartless talent any day!!!!
You are 150% right Si! These kids haven't got one ounce of quit in them and hearts as big as all outdoors....... -
I do completely agree, you take away anyones CF and leadoff hitter and the dynamic completely changes!
And you are right. You guys have been blessed with a great group of senior guys this year, and Demarie is a gamer. Kid brings it everytime for everything 100%.
This team reminds me so much of the 04 team that lost to Follett in the state semifinals it's uncanny. Barring any further injuries something special could be in the works in Pineland.... -
West Sabine 5
Broaddus 0
Final
WP: Brown 7IP, 0R, 2H, 3BB, 4K
LP: Cantrell 6+IP, 4R, 7H, 2BB, 7K
WS: Dillon Sepulvado Jr. OF
3-3, 2B, 2RBI, 2 runs scored
West Sabine 24-2A champions.. -
1st gets the bye will play probably grapeland vs alto the way it stands
2nd will get 3rd place out of 23-3a which looks like Timpson or Joaquin who ever wins that gets 1 lose Centerville
3rd place will get Gary more than likely win of that series will get defending state champs Douglass
Doesn't sound like an easy road through the playoffs exists in Region 3, for no matter who you draw you will get a quality opponent....... -
Wow big win for colmesneil. I don't think that helps their playoff seeding...but now Tuesday if Broddus can beat west sabine they will be the outright district champion.
They were locked in as the 3rd place team regardless of the game last night. Have you seen who the district runner up might be playing in the bi district round? I know the winner of this district could potentially face Douglass in the 3rd round....... -
Eagles kick a field goal in the bottom of the fifth but that's it.
WS 23, Zavalla 9
Final
WS had 22 hits... -
23-6 WS top 5
Both teams missed an extra point....... -
