Come to think of it, I may have to run that clock this year....

robanadana reacted to Mr. Buddy Garrity in Newton's Roney Elam commits to Texas A&M
Im not fond of A&M, only reason I been watching was cause of JFF but I must say they picked up a potential star in Elam and here's why:
He is a tall CB or DB for that matter thats a rarity in the SEC for most teams, he will be a matchup problem for any WR he covers rather on the outside or in the slot, he's fast enough to stay in a WRs hip pocket and shifty enough to recover if slightly beaten, he may not be a 5star recruit but he will play like one when he steps on campus IMO. -

@ESPNTAMU: Roney Elam, the no. 22 CB in the nation, chose the #Aggies over #LSU. 4-star prospect is 20th commit in A&M’s 2015 class. #GigEm

robanadana got a reaction from snafu in VIDOR PIRATES 2014 as I see us.
Yes. Maverick missed all but the first game of last year because he broke his foot out doing what kids do. Size and speed wise, they're about the same as sophomores. No one knew Montana's name until he was a junior. I don't think the issue is athleticism but whether Maverick can match his older brother on vision and football smarts. You know what my prayers are for.....you all know how I feel about Jeff Matthews. He and all the Pirate staff have my undying support. I will be in Florida with them! -

Nope, I didn't say that at all. "If we get inspired and settle our offense in, especially at QB, we'll make some noise because there is some good, young talent there like Haylon Leckelt (soph)." I have a lot of confidence in the Pirate coaching staff to make the most out of the kiddos we have. -

It's gonna happen Buddy, just wait...it's all about politics. There is about a plug nickle's difference between the two parties. Just rhetoric and who gets paid.

I see nederville still drinking the Hateraid. I know one thing, there must be a lot of mirrors in that locker room so y'all can look at yourselves and pretend there is no one else in this district.

Soulja, give your team more credit that they deserve .... I went to y'alls playoff game against Summer Creek and Central played them pretty darn good and I felt y'all had a real shot of beating them. I know y'all took some bogus calls by the refs that were game changers. All in all, Central always has a quality team.

Watching the Orangefield scrimmage, I took away a few items for the Pirate faithful to digest this year and where I think we're headed. First and foremost, we're young. We graduated most of the o-line and a goodly part of last year's defense. Also, I understand their may be a decision not to use Geth Simmons at quarterback this year. Knowing these things, I have a few observations about us. First, we played three QBs Friday. Maverick Quirante started the first series, Dewitt the second, Ross the third. Offense needs work, we didn't move the ball well at first. I believe Orangefield's senior defense is solid and should carry them into the playoffs.
Second, we're sophomore young. There was never a time when three to four white helmets weren't on the field. We only have eight seniors this year (which I don't understand with a 5A school but I may be wrong). At one point, five sophomores were on offense, five on defense. Overall headcount of players was around 45. Our defense played admirably and basically shut OF down except for their first series, which took them about 17 plays to score. Both the offensive and defensive lines look thin but that may come from a hard summer of working out, which I know they did. This team looks a lot like the 2010 team that went 2 - 8 but lost five games by 7 points or less. There weren't a lot of seniors on that team either. If we get inspired and settle our offense in, especially at QB, we'll make some noise because there is some good, young talent there like Haylon Leckelt (soph). Now, on to the bright spot. The last series, both OF and Vidor put in their starters...our offense, their defense. Maverick Quirante (soph) came on as QB and took us down the field with some hard running by Blake Rowe (jr) at fullback. He looked crisp on the fakes and handoffs. Unfortunately, we fumbled at the three to end the scrimmage. Not sure who is gonna start at QB, but it sure was good to see a Quirante under center again. JMO. -
robanadana reacted to 1989NDN in I Find Port Neches Groves Indians Offensive...
You should be offended. The PN-G W-L record vs. Vidor is 41-11-1. After Friday, November 7, 2014, that record will be 42-11-1. That is offensive. The Indians will be on their way to the playoffs and the Pirates will be headed back to P.E. Again, offensive. Scores like PN-G 48 and Vidor 13 = offensive.
Has Vidor figured out the forward pass is legal in Texas high school football? I wasn't sure after last season...the Pirates couldn't stop the pass on defense or complete one on offense.
No more Quirante kids allowed in the VISD. One was too many.
Go Indians. Peace.

robanadana got a reaction from AthleticSupporter - Jock in "REALLY" - NEDERLAND - "ONLY 2"
99.9 percent of the kids who play high school football never play another down after their senior year. If getting a college scholarship is a person's goal, maybe they should re-evaluate that position. An education leading to a good job is what the 99 percent should be about. I think Nederland does a good job of preparing their kids for that.
