1. Prayers out for this young man to be 100% come Friday. Good luck WOS, make Orange County proud again!!
 2.
Folks, this is not really about prayer at all. It is simply the fact that the good people of this country have to bend over backwards for the few crybabies in the world  so as not to offend. I'm sick of it, to be honest. I'm not going to change the way I live to accommodate the minority. I am also not going to shut my pie hole and listen to you cry because it is "politically correct". Times are changing. It's time to hear my side and if you don't like it, so what?
I agree as well BadDog. I'm sick of having to cater to the small minority of people who think their ideas are higher and mightier than the majority. I guess we also need to stop publically meeting collectively with Beaumont Ozen and Beaumont Central after every game for prayer in Jesus name. Someone might find these fine young men doing this offensive. It has been one of the healing things our communities have done to heal old wounds. BTW, I'M ONE OF THE TAXPAYERS IN VIDOR!!! It's usually one of the Mormon children who pray at our games. I don't agree with their faith but that's OK; they have the right to believe that way according to the First amendment which was created by our forefathers because governments in Europe had national religions and forced you to believe their way (i.e. the church of England). And, who am I to say their wrong? They stand up for their faith. I want prayer back in schools and in my town, it's the majority of people who believe that. I want prayer back in public places, I want our leaders to acknowledge God and not pay him lip service. To those who claim to know so much about the founding of our nation, I'll be more than happy to debate it with you at your convenience. And I promise I bring a gun to the gun fight. Read the Federalist papers and get back to me about our forefathers separating "church from state". These were DEEPLY religious men and sought divine guidance in the creation of this nation. Lord willing, Montgomery and Aldine I.S.D. will allow the Packard child to pray publically again this Friday. Those who don't want to listen, close your ears and put your mind on whatever it is that floats your boat. You have that right to chose in this country for now. If it gets any further from being a nation with people for whom the majority believe in Christ, it probably won't be. I dare to stand like Joshua, "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Now, there's something to believe in!!!
 3. Coach Welch has done a phenominal job with those kids. I believe most jr. highs have a bigger offensive line. Glad he's back and thanks for a job well done. It just shows the heart of this team; they have endured more heartache, injury and tragedy than I can ever remember any Pirate team going through and they seem to feed off it. It just makes you stronger!
 4.
Let's go 17-4A!  Another sweep would be awesome!
Get ready to sweep up some bear hide and claws. [move]MUTILATE MONTGOMERY!!![/move]
 5.
This will be Vidors final pep rally of the year  ;)
Crosby told us the same thing.....I promise we'll show up for four quarters with our Pop Warner football style.
 6. Anybody know if we're having one for the Montgomery game? I'm in baytown this week but will drive back for the rally. PirateGirl4Ever, got any info???
 7.

.......The Supreme Court is not the do all see all ..........
Actually, yes they are. The only people that can overrule the Supreme Court is the Supreme Court in a later ruling. By the Constitution, they are the do all and end all. There is no veto of their rulings and they can't have a case overridden like a president's veto. There is no law or rule that they can't rule on at their discretion.
We'll all find out when ObamaCare comes up. When it comes to prayer in school, or prayer at football games, or using Jesus Christ's name, civil disobedience suits me just fine. And, I will be one of the first to come to my school's defense monetarily or otherwise should some goofy suit arise. BTW, Vidor has several fine lawyers that have graduated from our education program. Packard, LaPray and Brent Coon come to mind right off hand.
 8. And to all our Pop Warner football posters out there; we hung 41 points on you while holding you to 20. Seems to me you need to read Pop Warner's book on how to have a successful TEAM! BTW, Austin and Aston Walter may have some of the best raw talent I've seen on a high school football field but Montana Quirante was the best football player on the field that night. Ya'll couldn't stop him offensively or defensively. Saying this not to take away anything from the superhuman effort by the rest of the Pirate football team.
 9.
I am currently raising a set of twin boys.... heck one more set wont hurt.... :-D
You get the twins we're all talking about Coach and I'll help out with those expenses....
 10.

bad situation.... several families are gonna be uprooted here.
Vidor is an open district!! ;D
Amen to that!! I have an open bedroom and an extra car for either of the Walter twins who want to play for a great coach, school and community. Allowance is negotiable.
 11.

Coach Flanigan won't be unemployed long.  He merely failed to serve an agenda, an agenda that had nothing to do with putting a quality football team on the field. Crosby has a ton of talent returning, most notably the Walter twins. So whoever the new head coach is should be happy.
I agree, Coach Flanigan wont be free long.  Good Coach but more so an Excellant person!  Crosby dont deserve him!  Glad to see him move on.
Sure glad we didn't get rid of Jeff Mathews because he didn't fulfill someone's agenda. This smacks of decisions from that wonderful school board they have.
 12. This message thread is making me very ill. I wonder what would happen if we started praying to Allah over the PA or to the mother earth goddess or Buddha? Would that be OK? I wonder if the Supreme Court would do well tackling that one or even attempt to do so. Wikipedia, now there's a non biased source; I 'd use them in an argument. Our nation was founded on Christian principles and I can quote several sources including Thomas Jefferson concerning their faith, especially during the time of our fight for independence. What motto is scrolled above the Supreme Court? Nearly every monument we have in Washington D.C. has it written in stone like a marquee. What did these same founding fathers mean by "their sacred honor"? You're right, we don't live in a true democracy, we live in a constitutional republic governed by the rule of law. However, the founding fathers never penned "separation of church and state.", show me where that's written. The first amendment says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,". The Supreme Court is not the do all see all and have made several gaffs in the past. If you have a problem with our prayer before the game, please feel free to exercise another right you have and leave the premises...I'm sick of people disrespecting my right to include Jesus in everything I do both publically and privately. Period.
 13. This game will definately be worth $6 entry. The two teams look really evenly matched. I believe turnovers will determine the winner. x's and o's we both look good on paper; good defense and ball control / control the clock style offenses with Montgomery having a more wide open offense....our MO is to grind it out.  Both have small, quick defenses that are in shape and get to the ball in a hurry. Gonna be a good one.....
 14.
He's been using that for a couple years now... You been living under a rock? Lol j/k ;) I've always liked it. He's pretty clever!
Nah aries, I just got off the boards for a while. I work overseas a lot and miss being one of the Pirates #1 fans. First time I had read it. Though it was quite creative.
 15.

I don't see Nederland being as good as last year given they lost all their starters. Central and Ozen will be too strong for the rest of the district this year. Nederland and Livingston will round it out but a couple of the other teams, LCM and my Pirates, may make a little noise. For once I have to say the basketball team is waiting on football to finish (believe that!!!) to get some of the starters back for the Pirates.
Any returning Pirates from lat year's Vidor team? I remember they started out strong (14-0?) then didn't do much after Nederland squeaked by them in the 1st district game at Vidor. I believe LCM lost most of their players, but they looked good at times this summer. PNG lost a lot with Doty and their quick PG. Lumberton has a good player, but not sure if they have much after him.
Two, but one of those is Montana Quirante. We had a good JV last year and got a little help through transfers in the offseason. Also, I am really happy about the promotion of Larry Sterling to head B-ball coach. Cut from the same mold as Brian English. Last year we had a good pre-district but we didn't play anybody. Once districted started the good teams beat us up pretty good. Zach Quinn was not a good coach and the kids really didn't like playing for him; I didn't like his style of ball and screaming at our kids for everyone to hear during games, well, not good. I thought he should have made the playoffs with the players he had. I believe Sterling will do a good job and get us back to respectability.
 16.

Sorry everyone, but saying Coldspring, a SMALL 3A school, could handle a 5A power like PAM is just ridiculous. They have some quality players but I'm absolutely sure that across the board they could not put the talent at every position a 5A or good 4A school could. The real breakdown would be the fact that Coldspring has several players going both ways where a PAM has two quality players at EACH position. They might hang until halftime and then, with their collective tongues hanging out, they would get wore out by the speed and DEPTH of a school like that. Period. Keep it real, please.
Who has stated that Coldspring would beat PAM? I have not seen any post making this claim.
The header of the post is "Re: Coldsprings over rated...." I took it from there because you have them ranked #1 in the area regardless if you believe that or not. It is just "mytwocents", pardon the pun. I still love you because you're an Aggie fan regardless of how dissappointing they've been this year.....
 17. Great job this season coach. Good luck in the playoffs!!!!

 19. I'm going with my heart on this one and going with the Panthers. Not working this Saturday so I hope to make the trek back to Aldine Saturday to support them. Ozen has the athletes but the jury is out whether they will get out coached. I've seen Brenham play several times over the yearrs in Brenham and they definately have the one thing it takes to win consistently: a great coach and established program. They have my respect and a little (I hate to admit this) admiration. What Brenham, Dayton, PNG, Nederland etc.etc.etc. have is what I'm hoping Jeff Mathews has created in Vidor. He certainly has a lot of firsts there. One question; what's the furthest Ozen has been in the playoffs????
 20. Pirate fans, I read on Toups Graphics website where he called our team "the Black Pearl". I would like to nominate this as the name of the Pirate ship as we sail victorious around the state. Any thoughts????
 21.
I would like to personally thank everyone for their support over these past few months... A lot of walls and images of Vidor have been broken down through some very tragic events in this time. I for one, Chris Comeaux, Would like to thank all who have supported our community and football team through these times.... I thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the fans who have sat on our side and then posted on this forum speaking of how friendly they were treated and how they felt welcome.... if more people would get out and meet other people from other towns a lot of the animosity towards others wouldn't be as it is in certain situations...  It is a pleasure to read good things about our town that has caught to many black eyes over the past.... Our community is going through some rough times with the loses of young people in the past couple of months and the support shown by people on these boards brings a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye when I read the heartfelt post on here..... God Bless all the families and friends of the young ladies lost this past weekend... and the families and friends of the two young people who will have live through this tragic event the rest of their life... smack talk is smack talk :-D but Thanks for all the support!!!!! Chris Comeaux Vidor Pirate '86
I, Gary Robin, completely agree with you Coach Chris Comeaux. Vidor Pirate 1976.
 22.
Vidor is more about SMART football.  Whatever is needed at the time is what is done.  The coaches prepare and teach the kids well.  And the kids, they execute.  Whatever is needed.
Basically, that's what I'm saying. We controlled the game and the clock. For a professional football team, the Steelers play great defense and mostly smashmouth more than going to a spread offense and throwing forty+ times per game. Besides, they were black and yellow (gold) and I like the similarities. You might like or hate the Steelers but you MUST respect them. I get tired of hearing how much we need to throw the football or go to a spread offense; B.S., the way we play football fits our kids and is winning high school football. When our offense is on the field, the clock is running and some of the other high powered offense (i.e the Walter bros.) are sitting on the bench. Bill Cowher loved to line up with that big running back, run the football and run the clock.
 23.
Somewhere in all the smoke blowing and general BS, seems as though some of the thin skinned folk, seem to think someone questioned the "heart" of the Vidor Boys. Not sure where that came from but whatever, I guess you must really think your boys are the only team in the Region with "heart". Well I got news for you, Vidor doesn't hold sole posession of "heart" in this equation. But it takes more than just heart, heart will only take you so far. Been watching to many "Rudy" re-runs there Sparky. We'll see who has what it takes come next Friday. Prove me wrong, please do, and I will be the first to admit it. And a few pages back someone asked who I am....well partner, I'm the guy that is easiest in the world to find, because i don't hide on a keyboard behind some fake name, use your google skills amigo, I'm easy to find out about. My youngest is a Senior on this team, and I work with most of these boys very closely, on and off the field. I played the game for many years at all levels, and have the knee surgeries to go along with it. I love the game, and the kids that come out to play it. I teach them to play the game hard, safe, and clean. May the best team win, because no matter the excuses, the best team wins on any given night. Turnovers, injuries, brain farts, whatever, it's all inclusive and reflected on the scoreboard when the clock runs out. Good Luck come Friday......
Crying shame you have to list your so called "credentials" to make yourself sound important; it's about the kids, not you bud. A lot of people on this board work with the kids at their respective schools. I don't hide behind anything and my knees have a few scars themselves; BTW, you can send people emails on this board you know. I'd be more than happy to shake your hand and say "hello" pre-game unless you consider that beneath you. Also, I'll be happy to discuss career standings now if you like....take your steroid fueled ego somewhere else.
 24.
Good luck to Vidor folks- if we where not playing ya'll I would be rootin for ya. Hope its a good game and becomes a regular playoff meeting place. :)
Same here.
 25.
Would it be wrong to wear my Cub gear and pull for 17-4A, while sitting on the Vidor side?  I wanna meet some of you Vidor folks.... 8)
By all means, please come sit with us. I see Brenham green and I'll come by and introduce myself. You'll find Vidorians gregarious and entertaining....
