Yep.  Literally was as high as #8 2 weeks ago then dropped over 10 spots the very following week not due to a loss, but a quarantine.  That’s complete ‘you know what’, but all you can do is keep playing, keep winning and prove them all wrong when the playoffs get here...

They definitely shouldn't of dropped that much for quarantine reasons.

how we would anyone know this?  that kid most likely never plays a down (punter for Aledo)...he must run track...he's got to be bored silly if all he does is punt for Aledo!!

He is a soccer and track guy also.  22.15 200 as a Freshman last year.  He is on their sprint relays also.

There are lots of reasons for that....  Different chapters call the games differently.  If a team goes into a game and does not adjust, it is on them, not the officials.

With COVID, fans have to understand that officiating chapters are severely short handed.  In our games, we always get an experienced ref and two younger ones who are being trained up.  You can whine about it, adapt and use it to your benefit, or go to the officials association and sign up to help....  In reality those are the three choices you have...

I have never seen a ref stop, anaylze the comments from the stands and then change how they were calling...   If folks would hush and just cheer for their team... you would be amazed at how much the officiating changes...

I know this game had some stuff that crossed the line as far as a ref interacting with a player, but fans have got to let the coaches handle that kind of stuff..

Typically crews are either tighter or looser than fans want.  Good coaches and teams make adjustments.  It is hard to believe that unruly fans would cause a forfeit.  The game administrator should of been used to remove as many fans needed to keep the game going.

As far as COVID and short handed chapters, that is true and it makes it even more tough with all the cancellations and movement of games.

No excuses. I know BU won’t lose in this district, no disrespect.  But over the years of following out local teams, I know how the refereeing changes the farther west you go.  I’m sure you know what I’m talking about...

They say the same stuff about going east. I think all the chapters have good and bad refs, you just have to make adjustments. Of course I've seen fans complain about refs without seeing the dumb fouls, missed layups, and poor defense. Refs are either too tight or too loose for some teams

  6. From NFHS rulebook:
4-10: A closely guarded situation occurs when a player in control of the ball in his/her team’s frontcourt, is continuously guarded by any opponent who is within six feet of the player who is holding or dribbling the ball. The distance must be measured from the forward foot/feet of the defender to the forward foot/feet of the ball handler. A closely guarded count must be terminated when the offensive player in control of the ball gets his/her head and shoulders past the defensive player.

fyi:  Another defensive player can pick up the 5 second count if closely guarded is still maintained

Player attempts a lob pass to player in the paint. The passer is beyond the three point line. Pass is over thrown and goes in bucket.  Signaled a three but later ruled a two.  Because of the rule of intent.  That’s a new one for me. Lol

Was this in a High School game or college?

Big win for a BH team that returns one kid that was on varsity last year. My understanding is it’s all young players. Anytime you get a win against a Silsbee basketball team, it’s a good sign.

They had quite a few returnees from last year including seniors Crump and Anderson who started last year.  Juniors Pennington and Barber played a lot last year and the other starter played most of the 2nd part of the season as a Freshman (Smith)
