  1. It's in their student handbook on the high school webpage. ___ Guidelines for Early Graduation Guidelines have been established to provide the opportunity for a qualified student to attempt to graduate one year early. A student interested in early graduation should apply during his ninth grade year. Administrators and counselors will give careful consideration to the student’s readiness. Criteria to be considered will include state assessment scores, academic achievement record, attendance, etc. The student must follow the state recommended or distinguished achievement graduation plan. Information from the student, the parents, and guidance office records will be used to assist in the decision-making process, and a possible three-year plan will be developed. With the approval of the principal and the permission of the parents, the student will enter the early graduation program by August before the tenth grade year. 1. The student must take required courses on the Port Neches-Groves High School campus except for Algebra I courses taught at Port Neches Middle School and Groves Middle School. No required courses may be taken at another campus or at summer school unless the course was failed at the Port Neches-Groves High School campus. 2. The student must take English II and English III during the tenth grade year. 3. Two social studies courses must be taken during the tenth or eleventh grade year. 54 4. The student may take two elective courses away from the Port Neches-Groves High School campus only with the advanced approval of the high school principal. These two elective credits may be earned through correspondence school, college, or university campuses. 5. The PSAT, SAT, or ACT should be taken before the tenth grade. The decision to pursue the three-year graduation plan should be made only after careful consideration. Both parents and students should be aware that a series of choices will be necessary in this plan, since the student will miss some of the normal and natural experiences of the regular four-year high school program. In addition, the condensed time framework may not be conducive to a particular individual’s learning. These factors should be weighed carefully before a student applies to enter the early graduation program.

  12. Humble should be the team to beat again. New Caney and BH will be fighting for playoff spots. BH got 3rd in district last year and should be as good or better this year. Porter and Dayton will also be in the mix.
  13. I lost every football pick while I was in Vegas this past weekend....so I'm going with Crosby.
  14. some of these make a little too much sense and we know that the UIL doesn't always follow those guidelines.
  15. That depends on the chapter and sport. Fans/coaches make a big difference in basketball. Internal politics causes more officials to move chapters than to leave officiating from my experience in that sport. In football they are shielded more from the fans but most that I've seen leave in that sport have been to just getting tired of the grind. As the need for more officials grows faster than the supply, many are being asked to work more nights than they would like and that wears you down. Politics can be tough when some feel they always get slighted from the big games or playoffs.
  16. That would be a big loss. He is a good coach and seems to be a very good guy. I wish we would of been successful in stealing him in the past.
  17. That group is very strong and if they stay together he will will have a nice group coming through. Coach Ebow has worked with some good coaches and hopefully has learned along the way.
  18. Congrats Silsbee. I'm glad I could watch the 2nd half on TV. I remember a few of those players when they were in Little Dribblers.
  19. Is it easy to get session tickets on Saturday? We plan on driving up Saturday to see most of the games. I assume they are general admission like at the girls tournament.
  20. that's an old list. Danley broke 500 in 2014 I believe and Kit broke it in 2015. (She got her 400th when she was here). McMinn got his 500th win in December per CC newspaper. It shows Lombard with 1160 which he had before state tournament in 2014.
  21. Friday was the first time I got to see Silsbee play and I was very impressed. Their speed and athleticism makes it tough on the opponent. Sometimes it seemed they had 6 on the court. I wish them well tonight and hope they move on to Regionals and then San Antonio.
  22. 20 years since our last title. The '97 team was special and I hope this team repeats. I think all 4 coaches are part of the 500 victory club. Coach Martin (Timberview) led our team to our last state trip in 2012.
  23. It's pretty accurate I believe. He has some great bball history. and it's a coincidence that good teams have good players?
