Fact is 2025 BU football has had a couple of glaring weaknesses and PNG was the first to expose it. Here we are 3 weeks later and it haven’t been addressed. PA did what they were supposed to do and run us off the field. At this point, halfway through the season, I’m convinced they won’t be addressed. This was utterly embarrassing and many seem to be ok with this. It’s so much I can say, but I’ll refrain. All I know is this bye week couldn’t come soon enough…

Prior to this game last year, BU was 2-2. This year, they were 3-1. I think that’s the improvement that was mentioned in that article. Clearly, no one including myself had BU winning this game.

Bye week couldn’t come soon enough. We desperately need that personnel change. Come back from bye week and see what happens. Truth be told, THAT change should’ve taken place during that PNG game…

I’ll say this. Not taking anything away from Port Arthur, but my God. When your offense gets its first first down with under 1 minute left in the first half, I don’t know what to tell you. When you cause two consecutive fumbles and immediately got 3 and out and put the defense back on the field, I don’t know what to tell you. When you have PA passing the ball…. ACCURATE passes in stride on you and we have passes to open wr’s and over or under throw them, OR an interception, I don’t know what to tell you. We have guys in offense that have regressed from last year but you keep rolling them out there every week. I don’t know what to tell you. This is supposed to be a rivalry game but the vanilla play calling makes you think we’re playing the Beaumont Bulls pop Warner teams. I don’t know what to tell you. My goal here was to see if we compete for at least a Quarter or two. That didn’t happen. I don’t know what to tell you. I guess I’ll try to enjoy the halftime show. 🤦🏿

One thing to note about halftime. PA Marching Heat’s drum line is 95% girls, and they are good.

And just FYI, both bands seem the be good this year. Sound quality wise.

Port Arthur @ Beaumont United

Going to be tough. PA has the best run stopping defense we’ve seen all year. But I get it. We’ll need to be in 3rd and short situations…

The conditions that need to be met for BU to get an upset here… 1. Sustained offensive drives. (No 3 and outs) Our defensive is good enough to slow the PA offense down if not worn out. 2. Force PA to throw the ball at least 2/3rds of the time. That’s their 1 offensive weakness. I’d be comfortable with us causing a turnover there. 3. No forcing anything from the QB. Find the OPEN wr. Weeks past he’ll miss wide open players and throw to a main guy who’s covered. 4. If no one’s open, throw it away or run. No interceptions thrown. 5. No fair catching in special teams. Catch it and go. We’ve returned a 100+ kickoff for a TD this year and have some great athletes on special teams. Win the field position battle.

Do we really want to see them play against scrubs? Matter of fact, one can debate that everyone thus far have been scrubs…
