Yes it would be easier for Navasota to be out of our district for Lumberton to win. but you need to play the best teams available in your district to be ready for the playoffs.

I’d love to agree with you, but considering we goofed up and let them beat us last year I won’t come on here and beat my chest. I have confidence that we will have a good year though, just not gonna act arrogant about it.

I agree.  I remember LCM dropping down and I expected them to just run through the new teams.  It's not that easy and the work will still need to be put in.  I'm confident Babin and his staff will have our boys prepared just as if we were still in 5A.

They should rotate the state championship. NRG did a good job. DFW didn't travel. They shouldn't be rewarded for that. Also put San Antonio back in the mix. I wouldn't mind it being held at UT or AM. It's an outdoor sport!

Seems like this is the only thread that hasn’t been made yet. That’s the only reason that I hate moving from 5A because now i see a lot of crickets in future game threads involving Lumberton.
Anyway, LCM17, or LastBearStanding, or whatever your name is now (LOL), do you think we will see a team like the one that clobbered silsbee, or a team that go whooped by Kilgore? And please tell me that stud rb graduates this year lol
what about y’all cardinalbacker? Hopefully BC will get some things figured out and get back to on track. Had a great year in 2016!
Also, will Huffman be back to its normal self? Will we have to deal with Navasota or will they ship them out west? And please let me know if i skipped over any posters from teams that we will playing next year.
As for Lumberton, we will have a good qb with a year under his belt. Pretty good passer and shifty. A rb who saw some playing time this year behind Ward but should have a great season next year. And I believe we return at least 9 on defense. I’m not sure at this point about offensive line or other skill positions. I’ll see if I can find out. I won’t go into detail, but there may be a few things we do on the offensive side of the ball next year that sounds like it will work out pretty well. Obviously that’s all I’ll say about that. We are two platoon, virtually no two way players which should be to our advantage now that we are in a lower classification.
I’m lookin for an exciting year in which every game is winnable. I’m not saying we will be the heavy favorites each week, but we won’t be counted out like we were going against some 22-5A teams.

I’m not gonna get into that on a public forum, but If it is about the kid that I think,it has nothing to do with playing varsity,it’s all about What’s wrong and what is right. When someone sales a home and buys a new home in a differant city for various reasons a kid shouldn’t be held accountable for a family decision..especially when it is beneficial to the well being of kid!!

The real key in the whole process will be the coach, ...Dont matter how many athletes you have, if you don't have a coach worth a flip , it'll never be up to its potential .if we're being honest and kids go to where there post to This school should have some of the better athletes in the State, but with no good coaching and structure/program it won't matter

Unfortunately, TEA probably has to take over the district and put people in place as a long-term solution.
I don't know how else you fix the problem. Seems like a certain group of individuals in Beaumont are dead set on using BISD as their personal play ground. And they have effectively "pulled the wool over the eyes" of their constituents.

There are idiots in every town in America. Orange, like many, has clear territorial divides and some of all ethnicities prefer it that way.  I have never shied away from any segment of town.  I feel just as comfortable in the “Navy Addition” as where I live in the unincorporated area of Orange. I grew up in East Texas in a town with no diversity, and I much prefer it here.  I have represented people from all parts of Orange and know I have done it well.  I have friends in the areas of Orange that some white folks wouldn’t step foot after dark.  But that is fear and ignorance and not taking the time to know and understand their neighbors.  Maybe it is because of the ties I have made in my profession, but I know many of those folks to be as good and loyal to me as any of the folks in my actual neighborhood, more so probably if truth be told.
There were plenty of truths in the article, but much like Buzz Bissinger as referenced by WOSgrad, this author definitely had an agenda.  I love the town I have come to call home and hope to see a recovery, both from recent disaster and from a struggling economy.  Because what I have found beyond what the author pointed out, is a community that is resilient, neighborly, and more often than not willing to lend a helping hand.
And what should have been abundantly clear to the author is the fact that despite the subject of his article spends his seasons in one of the most aesthetically pleasing spots in all of this country, when he has a choice of where to lay his head (i.e., the offseason), it is right back in Orange, Texas.  I wonder why?

Rather than continue to post my thoughts, I am going to post what I saw on facebook from a friend of mine and a fellow WO-S graduate.  He posts here from time to time and I know many others know and respect him as much as I do.  That, plus I really can't improve on this as setting out the feelings regarding this "article.":
"As I was riding back from the game last night, we made the Bucees stop in Waller. Christmas music was playing via my IHeart Radio 92.5 Beaumont. my wife and son were all nestled in their slumber on the last leg from Bucees to Pflugerville. I was thinking about the article that was the latest rendition from the left coast regarding Earl Thomas. Deep down, it felt like the writer had more of a “twist” he was really spinning. To me, the celebrity of this was not really focused upon. I regret that twist on our hometown. We are no different than communities all around the country. We are not without blemish. My hometown struggles to land the next DuPont that carried Orange for years; helping many small business startups we knew as kids. My mind thought of many. The evolution of the market changes, and current global financial paradigms, certainly play a part of growth struggles. However, painting us as a town devoid of “good”, is distasteful. I am not blind to racial struggles, nor socio-economic divides. However, I’ve lost count on how many posts I’ve read about the incredible love, unity, and joint heroic efforts, performed by OUR citizens. In turbulent times, we usually find out who we are at the core, when the “waters get deep”. Everywhere I travel, I’m proud to tell people I’m from Orange, Texas. Even far away in travels, I don’t say Houston, as some people tend to do for geographic identity. It’s always, and only, Orange. So, I guess I feel that the article simply trashed who we really are. Those who know me best, know that I’m not silent when the time comes to stand for truth. Well, this time is no different. Orange, Texas is a wonderful community. It’s diverse. It’s a place where kids are all really friends. It’s a people proud of hard work and accomplishments. We are not the To Kill A Mockingbird idiots. We are a wonderful story of people who make their way. We are a people that are a whole lot more alike, than a FEW want it to be. I love my town. I can’t be silent on letting us be painted in a light that goes beyond the smudges on our shirts, without stating all the beauty of who I know Orange folk to be. Don’t be concerned too much about the few instances of bad vs the incredible stories, of incredible families, friends, events, heritages, etc..... In the book Friday Night Lights, the author went to Odessa and took full advantage of ripping that town. Some truths were stated. But, he made a killing at the expense of some incredible people. I felt this way in this article I read yesterday. Stay off all my homies in Orange. We are better than that!!!! Not without blemish, but so much more than that “agenda” in the article. I love you Fruit City."

Raiders94 reacted to Raider24 in PNG Defense- Will coaches make changes for Crosby Game?
Everyone at every level questions the coaching of their respective teams. It is very easy to Saturday morning, Sunday morning, or Monday morning QB. I've been a youth coach, middle school coach, high school coach, and a parent of a player while not coaching. I question things at times also. Airing your schools dirty laundry on a public forum to me does not seem like the correct thing to do. There are other avenues to do that. A lot of the players get on this site and read what is being said. Their focus this week should be on preparing for Crosby and not reading this site and come out of this doubting their coaches, having dissention amongst each other about whose playing where or why, and their game plans. I highly doubt that BF and staff are strategically not playing their best athletes. Sometimes if there are kids close in talent and ability to get the job done, the underclassman will get the nod due to gaining the experience to help in the future also. Now if the Sr is head and shoulders above the underclassman by all means he should be there. Who really knows this better than the coaches? What coach wants to play politics above winning and possibly lose his job and the jobs of his staff? JMO. An outsider looking in!

Nobody is saying the defense cannot play better. You are claiming there are better players riding the pine as if you have some kind of magic vision that allows you to think the defense would improve if only Faircloth would listen to you. Just let it go. Complaining on a message board is not going to help anything. More than likely it will make it worse.

Apparently Coach Faircloth looks at where you live and if you contribute to the booster club when deciding his defensive starters. Then stashes the poorer studs on the bench.

What I am about to post may ruffle some feathers so I want to give appreciation to the parents, kin, friends, and fans who DO go out and support their team's kids. However what I saw at Ozen last night was pathetic. They might have had 40 people in the stands. That teams gets no support and its sad. I have seen other poor turnouts when we play others in 22-5a as well and its not an excuse. How people don't make prioritize supporting their kids is beyond me. Lumberton and Vidor always have great support in the stands and sometimes they know in the off season that they wont make the playoffs. We got to do better for our kids.

Keep up the good work, Warden.
