I don't know if Silsbee has the dogs to win state. I guess their just satisfied with one championship. I will say they have disappointed me in a few games with the lack of defense and one on one play. Seems to have a few players who rush up shots. I think they will get on track in district but don' think they will beat Yates. Huntsville isn' promised. They really miss graduates Bruce Newton, Calvin, Tyler, Mike McCain, Trajon Harris, and Willie Jones III. All those guys were defensive enforcers. Silsbee has maybe one kid that I have seen maybe 2 who have that skill to play defense. They have played a very difficult schedule to say the lease. We still must remember their loses have been to 6A and one 4A who they traveled like 3 hours on a school night to play. No excuses but Silsbee needs to buckle down. Not sure if they have a court leader yet.

Has Hardin Jefferson played any 6A teams. I know they played Nederland twice and split. Any other notable wins?

Silsbee may take that L tonight. Got to keep playing to get better. District start next week I think.

Center is the new 4A #1 and Dallas Carter #2. Silsbee goes to 3 and Yates 4. I' like to see Silsbee vs Center in state.

Only real post they had last year was maybe Barnes who is there this year. Wilkie Jones at 6'6 had handles and 6'2 Mike McCain had handles. Of coure Harris at 6'3 was a guard. Silsbee needs to get better at the free throw line and defense. Defense, defense, and more defense. I don' see any dogs on that bench. I expect Newton, Tyler, and Sells to become the dogs on defense. They have it. Just need to pull it out of them.

In 4A maybe 4. You never know who gets hot at the right time

As long as Silsbee stays healthy, I'm not worried about them. I know McCain, Barnes, Bush, and Adams are the 4 leaders of this team. I feel pretty confident that they will be fine. I may drive up to Dallas for a day when they play 2 games and watch them.

Your right! Silsbee is far from great but these kids work hard to graduate and go to college. Silsbee is a very good academic high school as well.

Wheatley is HORRIBLE!!! Yates entire district is weak and I mean very weak!!!

People need to rememer you have a enter new bench and these kids from football still learnng how to play. I talk to a Silsbee coach at the Cypress tourney and he said he expects the team to be playing at its best by the 2nd week of January. Alor of these kids have never played together unlike last year and year before. They will be fine. They may need to go just 8 deep.

Who cares about being #1 now. It's about the last person being #1 in March.

WOS won' beat Silsbee I'm sure of that. Yates does look good but better than Silsbee right now?? Maybe. Remember Silsbee is built for February with all that talent. Don't expect 15-16 years old to always have complete focus in December like they will in Feb and March. Yates has beat Silsbee twice in the playoffs before and we all know we won last year new season new teams. My money would still be on those Tigers.

That was Centers state championship tonight. They not getting out of Region 2 I'm sure. Silsbee better focused on these next few weeks and district. Playoffs will be here as well. Gotta keep getting better off that bench

Playing a top ranked team 2 hours away on a school night is a good challah right now. This team needs to get battle tested. Wouldn't care if they went into district at 500 or lower. Just keep getting better and playoff ready!!
