  1. I personally don't think the team should be punished... Maybe Coach suspended for a few games, something along those lines. I agree most of the kids do not know the rules, But coach does. Did a pinch runner or whatever make an impact on the games probably not... They won the games simple fact they are the better team... Its a dumb rule but still  a rule

Absolutely! Coach should know better and team should be punished! Why be anonymous is my question. Just seems vindictive.

For the record... I don't think the coach broke the rules on purpose and the kids had no idea. So there is no message from the coach to the kids about hiding cheating. But, if you can't beat them, hide behind an anonymous letter... that's what I'd teach my kid!

Ok ... I’m sure he didn’t know the rules... all is forgiven

I understand rules are made to be followed. My question is...Is being a courtesy runner actually entering the game? That person doesn't show up in the scorebook and is eligible to hit or enter the game to play a position but a pinch runner can not. Also, when a player enters the game to hit or play a position then they are no longer eligible to courtesy run.

Now, what I do know. Someone sent an anonymous letter to point out the horrible act on BC part. Congratulations on your participation trophy! Why be anonymous for this brave act of valour? Did BC win a close game because this courtesy runner beat the throw home to score the winning run? I can answer that...no! Someone spent a lot of time scrolling back through an APP to put the screws to a group of good of kids that have worked their butts off to get to where they are. Maybe instead of investing so much time on your phone/computer, invest that time in your kid/team. Why be anonymous? Take credit for your wonderful find or polish that participation trophy! Good luck to all the area teams in the playoffs. Some team just gets to see BC early than they want.

Rules are rules ... he knew it ... he broke it ... now has to deal with it... your right probably wouldn’t have mattered anyway ...what type of message are you sending  the kids ... hey it’s ok to break the rules as long as you don’t get caught ....

I just feel bad for the players who have worked hard this season and have been playing great ball

If we are talking about Big Sandy lets remember these stats from this year in the Homerun discussion...  They've hit  2 against Nederland, 2 against HJ, 1 vs. BC, and 1 vs. Blanco.  Now for me I feel that these are some of the top schools in our area with some much better than average pitching.  Just my two cents.

    Thanks,

BS and Evadale have excellent ball players no doubt... and they have hit homeruns off quality teams .... but there is a major drop off .... just go look at the scores 18-0 17-0 15-0 etc. very seldom does quality pitching give up that many runs, that often. Field size cant debate never been to any of the fields. But stick those two teams in 4A 5A district and the numbers are cut in half if not more... Now don't get me wrong the above avg players will still get theirs.. but not like it is now.... JS

  5. I've always enjoy baseball playoff. When Trevis was in school and you had real rivals, Silsbee vs WOS , Silsbee vs BC the games were great. Watching all four district teams run into each other in regional quarter finals to see who moved on just great baseball  and atmosphere... But not gonna lie this past year in football was very exciting in Silsbee especially since I had a kid on the field. The fans traveled well and really got behind the Tigers. And beating WOS in the rain.. Just exciting times

Just looking at the box scores for Silsbee in district play, it looks like they average 4 errors or more a game.

Unless your team batting average is .400, you are scoring 12 runs a game or you have two pitchers that have sub 1.00 era's, that's a hard way to win games.

    Makes it very tough

My son plays for Evadale has hit 4 Homeruns so far and 3 out of 4 was in the Silsbee tournament. People don’t realize you got a few small school kids that could play at a bigger school, they play against better competition all summer with and against kids from bigger schools. But I understand not many people realize that.

I know your son .. We've played with him... like I said not taking away from any of the kids. Most smaller schools have one main pitcher after that its tends to drop off.

Silsbee left to many runners in scoring position. BC blew it open in the sixth when Silsbee started bring in relief pitchers. Silsbee seemed to have played tight and gave BC too many extra outs, pass balls, and wild pitches, that wont help you win game especially against a team like BC. BC took advantage of Silsbee's mistakes. Silsbee gotta stay focus. TigerNation!!!

Yes to many pass balls , wild pitches ,missed communication.  missed played pop ups..
