  1. In NO WAY was my earlier post directed toward any of the girls on the PNG squad. The girls are just following direction from their coach no matter how misguided those instructions might be. I'm not sure what value or lesson the "coach" was trying to instill in her players, but if someone can enlighten me please do.
  2. I hope this isn't true. Don't know all of the details behind this, but from the outside looking in this is about as Classless as it comes.
  3. Both of these are quality teams and this should be a great game. The refs will NOT be the deciding factor in this game. The winner of this game is the one that plays hard, is poised, and does not ALLOW the refs to be the deciding factor. I give the nod th HJ.
  4. Who and why would a "big name" coach want the LCM job? There are some good OC's and DC's in the area that would be good for this job though.
  5. leftfoot, Did you see Friendswood Fan at the game? ;D Thanks for the trottle report...I mean score.
  6. Home cookin' indeed! After checking the bracket, I'll take two sausage on a stick and two crying towels...to go please. :
  7. Time and 2 district matchups will tell. Both programs are very tough and these will be good tests and experience to prepare each of these teams for the playoff. Good luck to both. jr1979, my "jumping ship" refers to my opinion only. My loyalty is to LCM not either one of these schools.
  8. After watching Central through the summer league and at the start of this season, I thought they would certainly win the district without too much of a struggle. NOW, after getting a chance to see the athletes that Ozen brings to the court...it's not so clear cut. This game will match up two of the most athletic girls teams that have played in this area in a long time. Ozen has heighth that few girls teams will be able to match and they can all move extremely well. They run the floor well and everyone is involved. Should be a great match up, but I'm jumping ship from my original thoughts and going with Ozen by 8.
  9. A skid of 3 or 4 games will put ANYONE out of this district. There are some very stong teams again this season in 22-4A and LCM will certainly have a shot to wear the '08 district crown.
  10. What's her name and position? Freshman? If she is truely that awesome, why is she on the JV while the varsity struggles?
  11. Agreed. Defensively LCM put pressure on the bobcats all night. Orangefield never looked comfortable and didn't ever get into any kind of offensive flow.
  12. Nice post. Coach Harley is doing a great job of creating a competitive tradition at LCM and this years team is very good. The fans are just responding with the excitement of having a quality team. Playing H-J type competition never hurts you later in the season. Maybe the Bears will get another shot at H-J somewhere down the line this year in a tourney. (not sure about their schedule) (I gave you a karma point for your post and screen name)
  13. I FIRMLY believe that administrators should set and uphold standards and guidelines, but I think they have the reigns way too tight on these kids. Most of the kids in this student sections are the "involved" and "leader" type students of the school. LCM administrators do a good job of stressing and pushing their students to academic excellence, so why put a damper on the enthusiasm of just being a kid and supposting your friends? I'm not saying that kids or adults for that matter should be able to say whatever-whenever, but make sure the students clearly cross a defined sensible ethics codes, before removing people from the gym. Crude and nasty is not acceptable. Fun, support, and being a kid is.
  14. You posted the exact same statement on the "HJ VS LCM/HJ Wins 58-52" thread...I guess you feel like if you say it enough times you'll convince yourself that it's true. HJ has a long tradition of outstanding basketball...I just don't understand why you can't walk away from a victory and just say "nice game"? LCM has a well coached quality team this year and will turn some heads before the seasons over.
  15. Being 4A didn't seem to bother you when you predicted a 34 point margin in an earlier post.
  16. Didn't see this game, but that really doesn't matter...the same thing happens in junior high gyms all across the state. Good, bad or ugly, parents shouldn't be officiating their own kids games. The problem with junior high games is that most of the referees used in these games are just beginning themselves. They let these games get way out of hand and then it's too late to reel them back in. I have to agree with setxfn and I don't see anything out of line with his posts...junior high is where the competion begins, why not comment on it? Sometimes you play hard and still don't come away with the "W", but you feel good about yourself. Sometimes you can leave the gym with the "W", but still not feel great about it. I can see which slipper fits here.
  17. Whoa...I just got this weeks edition of Sports Illustrated and Lumbertons on the cover!!! L-Train rolls!
  18. I have 3 daughters involved in sports at different grade levels. Even though I'd like to see more coverage of the girls sports, it's just a fact that the coverage will only be as big as the fan base.
  19. What happened to sportsmanship? I understand what you're trying to say with all of the "if they can't stop us"...yada yada, but that's lame and shows lack of character. If you really feel that way why would have your starters out of the game anyway as in the scenerio above?
  20. It is! (You have to write it in French and hold it up to a mirror) The words are also synonymous...as in "I didn't know the gun was LCM'ed"
  21. Being cleared to play and being "able" to play are two different things. None of us outside that small circle in Giddings know just how bad the ankle is. My bet is that he tries to play, but will be FAR from his usual self.
  22. Congratulations to the girls of the Friendswood team! I had a chance to see FHS play LCM early in the playoffs and Friendswood looked great. Although I am not a big volleyball fan, I can still appreciate the athletes and the work/dedication they put in to get to that level. The athletes and coaches of that Friendswood team handled themselves in a very positive way that night before, during, and after taking care of business 3 games to 0. Friendswood fan...you could have learned more than just volleyball from those players and coaches. It's a shame that some parents or fans tarnish the opinion of or the reputation of a group or school. Congrats also to Waco Midway...the REAL butt-kicking champions from North Texas!
  23. I'm an LCM fan who was at the PNG-Galena Park game Friday night. I sat on the GP side at about the 35 yard line and was surrounded by people from Golden Triangle area schools that came just to support and see a good ball game. I was shocked to see so few GP fans. Congrats to PNG. They played a great game and the defense did a great job of containing a very athletic quarterback. GP was obviously a one dimentional team and the indians took that away. The Indians are playing well, look very balanced, and could make some waves for quite a while if that continues. Good luck!!!
