1. With all do respect to West Sabine...there is a reason the only loss Beckville has this year is when they had to send their JV to a district game in order to still get to play at Minute Maid. They are very, very good. They've beaten 4As and below, all comers. They've only scored less than double digits 6 times this year, and 3 of those were tournament games on a time limit. Are they beatable? Absolutely, any high school team is. But there might not be a more complete baseball team in 2A. And for whoever said West Sabine made some errors that allowed some runs. Well that is what happens when the ball is put in play just about every at bat. It takes a great defensive effort from all nine positions to beat a team like Beckville. And if your "ace in the hole" is who I think it is...that makes you that much more prone to defensive mistakes when he pitches.
 2.   They are both SPECIAL kids. Jmike got the Ford POTW as well. Crazy to think they are just a few miles apart in a corner of east texas. What is Reshod doing college wise? Jmike is headed to A&M Commerce to play DB. The coaches there seemed really excited to get him. I think he has a chance to have a great college career.
 3. At the 2A level hard to argue with Jamikel Roberts of San Augustine.   District Offensive MVP in football if i recall correctly District MVP in basketball   1st team baseball as a junior   Ran on 4x100 and 4x200 at state track meet as junior.   Another good one is Reshod Williams of West Sabine.   I believe he was the football district MVP, don't exactly remember what he got in basketball but 1st team I think, good at baseball and can fly on the track as well.
 4. Hard Line drive down 1st base line...while ball is in the air the 1st baseman attempts to catch it but doesnt and his momentum knocks the ball towards and lands in foul territory (this is all beyond first base). First baseman was in fair territory when he touched the ball. Fair or Foul?
 5. A good basketball team has to have more than 5 capable players. Just because you are a starter also doesn't necessarily mean you play the most minutes.
 6. San Augustine plays a freshman at PG right now. Could be a real good one in the near future.

They had a legitimate chance to beat a state semi finalist in their playoff game.  Wouldn't be surprised to see them win another district championship.
Hull-Daisetta did also, Alto. So what.
That had absolutely nothing to do with Hull-Daisetta. That was a comment on Deweyville...you know who this thread is about.
Not sure SA even makes playoffs after all yall lost.
I bet we will have a stronger team than HD after ALL THAT WE LOST....SA will rebound just fine.  HD will have pretty much the same team they had last year and still get beat!  Not a team on your schedule that will give you enough of a test of what you will see in the playoffs.  Gonna be left stunned and shocked yet again!
I dont know about that. With all of the talent HD has this year they probably have someone that can run a 4.9 forty.
Sit back and watch Aaron Mosley (4.49) and Sean Burno (4.50) run past everybody. lol  :D 8)
Since we're talking about speed...SA's QB ran a 4.50 at an A&M mini camp and went to an invite only camp thereafter because of his performance there. There's 3 or 4 guys just as fast or faster than him in SA 👍 If hill-daisetta is so fast why was their track team non existent at the area track meet last year?

But based on the typical HD schedule they should get their normal 7-3 season and complimentary 1st round/game exit.
Deweyville and Groveton are losses for sure.  Of course they make they playoffs in that crackerjack district they are in.  Early exit.
San Augustine I hope we run into your soft team this season, HD will attack yall like a Lion on a wounded deer. Gonna suck having a losing season in a new stadium. Pray yall don't meet the HD Bobcats this season. Oh and if HD moved to your district, they would make the playoffs there every year.  ;) ;D  HD Nation!
I hope San Augustine and HD play as well cuz that means its somewhere beyond round 1 of the playoffs. Good luck to the bobcats and may the chips fall where they may.
 12. Shaw was originally from the Beaumont area but one of the hurricanes brought him north.
 13.
Wow. Going to be very nice. Wished we would be the first game on it. Hopefully we can but if not I guess we would just play at Deweyville instead?
If it isn't in the new stadium I doubt it gets played in deweyville.  That would be 3 straight years that SA makes the drive down there on Friday night.  Maybe play somewhere on Saturday? Not real sure what would happen but I bet SA has a contingency plan in case it isn't ready
 14. I'd be surprised if its ready for the deweyville game. The workers seem to act like there is no rush to get things done.  By 3:00 most workers are gone. I don't understand it, yes it's hot but that's what breaks are for.  You were hired to build a football stadium in time for football season. Get it done.  Not midway through football season. It is going to be quite nice though.  Someone posted some newer photos on smoaky at the following link.  It's further along than those pictures now though [Hidden Content]
 15. I can't get the pictures I have small enough for the website, but I can give you an update.  Turf is going down right now, home bleachers are going up right now, about 70-75% of the brickwork on the field house is complete. Things completed: All track facilities Sidewalks Visiting bleachers Scoreboard Press Box Structure Band Hall Roof Things still to be finished: Turf (done within 2 weeks barring weather) Field house block work (interior and exterior walls; 70-75% complete) Field house infrastructure Field house roof (35-40% done) Fencing Band Hall structure and infrastructure Press box infrastructure Lighting
Classless!! All I can say is they (HD) will still be playing football in the playoffs, while your team will be practicing jumpshots
Doubt it.
I don't, it's the truth. I gave credit to San Augustine for a great sports year as a whole. Really and truthfully, was it that much better than what HD did? SA lost one less game and played one more week before getting beat by 4 TD's in the playoffs. Hope ya'll had fun with a regional semi-final birth last year, because you won't sniff the third round this year.
For SA the losses were Tyler Grace (TAPPS playoffs), Garrison (2A 2nd round) and Mart (1A state finalist) The wins were Deweyville (2A district champion), Hemphill (2A bad team), Tenaha (1A state finalist), Grapeland (1A bad), Shelbyville (1A bad), West Sabine (1A 2nd round), Alto (1A regional finalist), Cushing (1A bad) and Axtell (1A 2nd round).  For HD the losses were Kountze (2A no playoffs), Groveton (2A no playoffs) Deweyville (2A district champion) and Alto (1A regional finalist) The wins were Hardin (2A bad) Lovelady (1A average) O'Connell (no clue) Normangee (1A so so), Iola (1A 1st round) West Hardin (1A not good) Colmesneil (1A 1st round) So if I'm thinking correctly SA went 9-3 (2-0 against common opponents) whilst HD went 7-4 (0-2 against common opponents). I'm just saying I'd much rather have SA's year than HDs. And yes SA dd lose by 4tds to Mart...but they went toe to toe with them for 3 qtrs before the wheels fell off in the 4th. It happens. It isn't fun, but it happens to everyone at some point. I will also add that HD did have a successful year, in district they can only play who the UIL assigns them. They can't help that. And the district 11 district champion has the toughest 2nd place team in the region to face in their first playoff game. So goes life. Hopefully SA and HD do get to meet up because it means it's in the playoffs.
 17. The top 2 dogs in th region 3 lost some key cogs on the offensive line this past year.  They will both still be really good, but they aren't without question marks.  Behind them, it gets really interesting. West Sabine graduated their QB and whether pineland folks want to admit it, they were only going to be as good as he was on a given night.  In that same district, San Augustine graduatd a lot, but don't sleep on them, by week 6 that youngness will have worn off and they could be a very dangerous team. Shelbyville has some young talent and a new coach, but I don't know if it is enough to catch the top 3. In Mart's district, I think both Axtell and Bosqueville were senior laden teams and don't know much of anything about the others.  So district 11 may have a shot at a 1st round victory there. District 9 is a complete toss-up.  Not a solid team in that district, not a horrible team either.  District 11 I think hull-Daisetta should be the favorite and Colmesneil is probably the 2nd best team.  If I was going to make predictions I'd say the bottom half of the bracket is represented by the district 10 or district 12 winner, who will meet in the 3rd round.  The top half of the bracket will be represented by the winner of district 11 or runner up in district 10, who will meet in the 2nd round.
 18. I've heard rumor that Hemphill will be sticking with the spread this next year.
 19.
how did hemphill look?
Quarterback is a lefty that throws the ball pretty decent. Had one really big well built white kid that was decent.  No real game breakers at the wideout positions.  Lacking in athleticism but ran good routes, attempted to play technique on defense etc.  the game I watched them (San Augustine) they were just not near the level athletically
 20. Hemphill played 2 games tonight in shelbyville...don't know the score but they played Shelbyville first and then lost to San Augustine. San Augustine beat Center in their other contest. Timpson and Joaquin are the other schools participating in the league.
 21. Pretty sure they play in a league on Monday nights in shelbyville...believe tonight would be the first night
