White Oak won state last year but lost their best 2 players.  They only had 1 loss this year and it was to Kountze.  Going to be tough for EC but it's supposed to be at state.  I would go with EC having a better chance to win then SA. 2 year span: Mumford  75 - 1 White Oak 72 -2
Mumford's loss last year was to a region 3 team... SA has seen and beat size at guard/forward (Cayuga, Kerens).  They have beat a standout player with a good team behind him (Grapeland).  Mumford will be a tough task but SA is more than capable of beating them.  In the regional tournament both teams tried everything they could defensively to slow down SA and neither had success (81 and 92).  And in case you didn't notice SA is the champ of region 3 that had 10 ranked teams in the playoffs.  This SA bunch is battle tested and playin some of their best basketball right now.
Just so you know, I'm pulling for SA not Mumford.  I was just passing along info on Mumford because I saw them last year at the State Tourney.  I'm pulling for my home town team EC as well.  Both of us have tough games.  It's the State Tourney.
You hit the nail on the head.  It's the state tourney.  EC nor SA would be here if they weren't talented.  I've seen Mumford...they are very good...but so is SA.  Their performance in the regional tournament was quite impressive.  Knocked off #9 and #3 by a combined 36 points.  Mumford vs SA is a state-championship caliber match-up.

3. If San Augustine plays to their potential then they are capable of beating Mumford.  These are the two best non-charter schools in Texas class 1A and it has the potential to be one heck of a ball game.
4. If I'm understanding the process correctly SA will play either Mumford or El Paso Harmony
5. Depending on what happens out in Region 1, it looks like SA is going to miss Triple A in the semi's! Mumford won region 4 and El Paso Harmony has fewer losses than AAA as well, which woulda or those the top 2 seeds.
6.

I'm happy SA is going to state. Simply bc that means Big Sandy was as good as thought..... I wish the best of luck to SA if they beat Triple A (if they go that far) then more power to them. I'd love for a southeast Texas team to bring it home. Good luck SA
big sandy was really good, they will be a force to be reckon with the next few years. I would love for SA to bring it home but it's not gonna happen, triple a is gonna take state this year and next for sure. Too much talent.
Triple a in a dogfight for their standards right now. Only up 12 at halftime
7. Triple A is the hands down favorite to win state. Not your typical 1A club.
8.
Casual observation....  The Silsbee Coach made mention TWICE that Yates have/will have  'move ins'.  Interesting.... 8)
Not being rude, seriously just asking...where did you see that?  The story that the link took me to he doesn't even mention Yates at all, just how missing shots and free throws got them beat.
9. Out score em 27-10 in the 4th quarter.  When it sparks...it explodes.  Good job of the wolves of not getting frustrated and just keepin on fightin.
10. Broad us-New Summerfield followed by San Augustine-Joaquin in Temaha Friday night.
11. Probably Joaquin. Definitely the shooting around the bucket wasn't good. It's got to improve if they want to represent region 3.
12. 6-22 from the free throw line and not converting around the bucket. Might have shot 20% maybe
13.

West Sabine by 20+ HD 1-3-1 is terrible corner and sde 3's open all game
This guy is a clown! It was good enough to beat everybody in district but BS.
It was also bad enough to lose to em too....
14. Woodville Tuesday at 7:00 i believe. I like West Sabine's chances in this one.  I don't know what Hull-Daisetta does on defense, but they had better be ready to defend in transition and defend the three point line.  If West Sabine gets hot then it could be a long night for Hull.
15. yikes 4 of 18 from the free-throw line.  There is the difference in the ball game folks.
16. Have y'all looked at the bracket? Braoddus will play the 2nd place team from district 24 and then would play new Summerfield. New Summerfield is far and away the weakest district champion in region 3. Broaddus has a very real chance of being in the 3rd round.  As for West Sabine...mark my words they will beat Tenaha if they shoot the ball well.  Tenaha falls back into a zone, which will give them ample opportunity to shoot the long ball.
17. I'm a huge fan of SA...but Broaddus and West Sabine aren't that good? West Sabine is in the top 20 and could sneak into the regional tournament. Broaddus spent 90% of the year in the rankings. Don't be surprised if all 3 teams go atleast 3 rounds deep.
18.

EC is going to get a good test in their warm-up game.  San Augustine is a very solid ball club.
When and where is this game being played?
Friday night in East Chambers...99% sure 7:30 tip
19. EC is going to get a good test in their warm-up game.  San Augustine is a very solid ball club.
20. If they are going to play it has to be this weekend. I would hate to just flip a coin.  The only way I would flip a coin is to see who gets the "bye" in the mini tournament.
21. If this is true that means Sabine Pass, Evadle and Hull-Daisetta are all tied at 5-5 right? So how is that gonna work.
22. I think SA will be just fine.  The good news is they found a way to win those games.  Also good news is, last night was obviously an anomaly.  With the whole team in action, they are averaging over 80 points a game.  Even when they were understrength they scored more than that.  It was just one of those nights.  Like I said Broaddus played well and SA didn't.  And it wasn't against just slouches either.  I think WS and Broaddus are both going to have a chance to knock off a district champion in the 2nd round.
23. Broaddus played well, SA couldn't throw it in the ocean around the bucket. When SA isn't scoring it makes it hard to get in their pressure D. Just one of those games. SA has found a way to win two ugly games in the last two.
24. SA beat West Sabine 71-67. Playoff seeds are set: 1 San Augustine 2 West Sabine 3 Broaddus
