1. West Sabine has definitely been impressive to this point.  This kids can only go out and play the teams that were put in front of them.  So anything about a weak schedule or anything of that sort is a non-point.  The real tests start in 1 week.  And for West Sabine October 19 and October 26th will determine just how good this team really is.  Hopefully all teams are relatively injury free and play some good solid football!
 2.

sa almost won 56-14 but lost 26-23 have mercy
Exactly!! That is really stretching it!
I know it sounds crazy but it's the honest to goodness truth.  Garrison scored 2 offensive touchdowns.  San Augustine shut them down otherwise.  So there is your 14 for Garrison.  A pick 6 where the qb was wrapped up and going down and he decides to throw it straight up in the air and garrison takes it to the house.  A blocked punt returned for a TD.  A fumble without being hit on the handoff on the 5 going in ( that makes it 28-14 now). A trip inside the 5 and get stopped on 4th down by a foot on a qb keeper when there was a wr WIDE open he should have tossed it to (35-14). Two ints inside the 20 where the WRs were open but overthrown across the middle and picked off (that's 49-14).  And a TD called back right before half on an offensive pass interference call 56-14).  I'm honestly not exaggerating with those statements.  Garrison capitalized when opportunities were presented to them, so congrats to them.  But SA dominated for 95% of the snaps.  That's not trying to be ignorant or whatever but it's the truth.  They shut garrison down and did what they wanted to on offense. The garrison offense scored on their 1st drive of the 2nd half and then never found the end zone again.  SA had just 300 yards rushing and a little over 210 yards passing.  SA has got to learn to finish drives and finish games and they will be just fine.
 3. San Augustine had 515ish yards of offense, but had 4 awful turnovers ( 2 ints inside 20 going in, fumble on the 5 going in and a pick 6 whe the qb was getting tackled and just hunted it straight into the air), 2 punts blocked in the 2nd half with 1 being ran back for a touchdown.  SA completely dominated for 95% of the snaps.  Anyone who tells ya different is lying.  Literally 7-8 plays is the difference in SA winning 56-14 and losing 26-23.  SA is a very good football team that keeps getting in their own way right now.
The last year they had UIL play offs in the Dome someone forgot to tell the vending company not to serve beer.  I walked up to the counter with BHFan and they had tapped the kegs.  We ordered as many as we could carry (yes $8 a pop) and headed down to the seats.  At least 5 rows in front of us an behind us rapidly made their way to the concession to find they had been informed this was a UIL event.  We sipped our beers and turned down lucrative offers from several folks.  You would have thought we had a trey full of false teeth in Dayton....... ;D ;D
yeah, um, about those beers, the UIL would like to see both of you at their headquarters immediately following your first round playoff exit this year to discuss the consumption of banned beverages at a UIL event.
Man, I'd gladly make that trip to see the UIL if that means we make the playoffs.  Maybe we need to sneak in in that 4th spot and change our luck.  I am SO READY for playoffs in Reliant.  Jerry's World sucks, the drive sucks, the food sucks, the prices for the food really sucks AND it's the Dallas Cowgirls stadium on top of it.
Alright now that is your opinion and that is fine...but your not giving Jerry World credit.  Food is expensive at any pro stadium.  The drive is gonna suck unless your playing in your own backyard.  We live in Texas...its a big state...get used to it.  The seats are quite comfortable and all have a good view.  And to top it all off...the kids (you know the important ones in the conversation) absolutely love playing there.
 5.
#55 is my son. He told me the refs had a discussion in front of him and they couldn't make up their minds whether to call it a block in the back or an "unnecessary" block. Whatever that is. One of the other td's that I'm talking about was on the south end of the field, during the third quarter I think, and we were charged with some kind of crazy formation or pass interference on the offense call, whatever it was it kept us out of the end zone!
The other one was a correct offensive pass interference call.  One of the other WRs who did not catch the ball was blocking downfield before the ball was thrown and continued blocking after the ball was thrown.  As much as we may not like it that was the correct call.
 6.
2 TD's were called back on very obvious calls. watch the game tape and you will see the fouls, both at point of contact not sure where you are getting 4 from.  Read the rules on the KO, and you will see that you are incorrect on that also, the Rec never had possession of the KO, it went through his hands and into the endzone where it was downed. Last word from me on this game. Positives for both teams coming out. Good luck to both teams.
Im gonna have to respectfully disagree with you here.  On the 1st TD that got called back they called block in the black on #55...#55 hits the deweyville kid with his facemask on the front of the deweyville kids left shoulder, just above the heart area.  Thats not a block in the back.  On the 2nd TD that got called back it was probably the correct call.  But the 1st call was definitely wrong IMO.
 7.
I have no respect for SA for the simple fact they walked off the field with a running clock in the 3rd quarter a few yrs ago against Kirbyville. We were up 56-0 and the whimps walked off the field and into the locker room and got dressed and left the game....WHERE THEY DO THAT AT??
Bud you gotta let that go.  It's a new regime in SA now. As for this game SA is gonna have to show up and play good solid ball.  Last weeks loss doesn't look so bad knowing Tyler Grace just walloped a not terrible 3A school.  I think SA bounces back and gets a win this week, but it won't be easy by any means.
 8. Last year twine ran for like 600 yards against west Sabine after a so so effort vs. garrison.  This year I see the same result happening.  I look for a high scoring affair, but I like Hemphill in this one.
 9.
Oh i'm not saying anything bad about tyler grace but to lose like SA did and still be ranked in the top 5. Its not like Tyler grace is some 4A or 5A powerhouse.
SA is a 1A d1 school, Tyler grace is equivalent size wise to a big 2A d1 school.  Would you punish SA if they had lost 41-20 to Newton? Danger field? Tatum?
 10. I didn't want to say it publicly but I had a hunch this might happen.  Tyler Grace is a very good team.  They were in mid season form last night and San Augustine made some mistakes that they capitalized on.  Defensively SA is going to have to get better.  As good as Grace looked if the first guy to the ball makes the tackle then SA would have been ok.
 11. If you have a kid with any sort of talent that can play QB then I say you line Twine up in as many different spots at possible.  Put him at T and let him run the ball.  Let him run jet sweeps and catch screens and bubbles from the slot.  Put him on the backside of trips and make the defense commit at least 2 defenders to him on the backside.  Just my two cents.
 12.
Not even close?  What makes you think SA will "run away" with the district?  Alto blasted yall last year and only beat West Sabine by 14.  I'll admit I'd probably put SA as #1 to start. I'll say this, you better beat Alto this year with your Sr. filled team, cause we'll be the team next year returning 17/18 starters.  Lotsa young studs coming up at Alto,  06'/07' like talent in the Soph./Jr. class.!
San Augustine beat West Sabine 35-0, dont know where your getting your information. The coaches in San Augustine and the players are well aware that Alto beat them last year. Thats what matters.
 13.
Glad to see my post has stirred up a little controversy! Sometimes that is more fun the games themselves! All I was saying is dont underestimate them. @jessejames: yes those type games are often quite intense and entertaining to watch. See you on 10/26! @89falcon: yes, I agree both tanner and whitaker will be in the running for mvp, but so will lacey. All three are amazing athletes and are exciting to watch. If you go watch any of them, as T.O. would say, "Getcha popcorn ready!" Can't wait to tee it up in August!!!
I think the 2nd place team from district 10 will be in the regional finals...as for the 3rd place team they have Mart waiting on them in the 2nd round.  If you can't beat Alto or SA (who i predict 1,2 in district 10) then your chances of beating Mart are slim to none.  But it's not even a guarantee that the 3rd place team gets out of the first round.  Chances are you'll be playing Joaquin or Carlisle...and West Sabines recent history with Joaquin hasn't been good.  At best I'm gonna give West Sabine two rounds deep and bowing out to Mart...and thats at best...its not a knock at West Sabine, its just my opinion which i think is based on pretty good logic
 14.
To answer your question truthfully, a great successful year, would be a playoff win. Yes obtaining the district championship would be good, but it's time we get back to winning playoff games. I believe under Finney playoff victories and a state championship are coming.
Thats all I was looking for...I wasn't trying to get in to all the other hogwash talk that just happened between those other two.  I've said it once and I'll say it again, Coach Finney was a great hire.  But the UIL didn't do any favors in the districting.  Hull-Daisetta would have been better off in the long run if the Region 3 districts were adjusted as so... Iola should have been in District 12, San Augustine and West Sabine should have been in District 11 and Timpson should have been in District 10.  Now you have 4 districts with 5,5,5 and 6 teams respectively.
 15.
Very good points, I can see why yall would think these things. Normangee, Lovelady and Groveton will be good ways to prove our worth. I can see HD going anywhere from 7-3 to 10-0. And I really believe Alto and San Augustine are beatable. Seems like HD has always over the years, been dealt one of the best teams in state in the first round. Used to always be Groveton or Alto in the first round. Some teams every year play very weak teams in the early rounds. Basicly some very good H-D teams in the past were beat in the first rounds by state champs, teams that go to semi finals or very deep. And Falcon don't be so sure about HD being slow footed. If you knew what I know, that statement would not have been made.  ;) HD will suprise and dominate this year.  8) Who messed with the poll?
55 I will give you this.  Coach Finney was a great hire for Hull-Daisetta he is only going to help the program.  And I agree with you that Normangee, Lovelady and Groveton are good games for you.  I think with Coach Finney at the helm HD is a solid playoff pick out of that district.  But here's the problem...if you finish 1st or 2nd in district (which I think you will) you are going to play Alto or San Augustine in the 2nd round.  If we're being realistic, those teams are going to be favored.  The have size, they have speed, they have experience.  Yes they are beatable, but the chances of that happening (unless your name is Mart, in which case i say its 50/50) are slim.  So i'm just asking, what will Hull-Daisetta call "successful" this year?  And To HDBobcat9, your right your schedule is an improvement.  Still no barn-burner by any means, but an improvement.  There isn't a team on that schedule though that will prepare you for what you are going to see with Alto, Mart or San Augustine.  Those three have speed coming out of their ears, size, experience and great coaching.  But I'm asking you the same question, what will Hull-Daisetta call a "successful" year?  If you go 8-2 or 10-0 and then lose in your first or second round playoff game, is it successful?
 16.
Glad I could make yall smile. And negative ghost rider, this years H-D Bobcats will not be terrible. I will remind you at the end of the season.  ;) 8)
I'm just curious but define "not terrible" for me.  Even if let's say you go 10-0, who on your schedule will be a quality win? And will it matter when you get beat in the second round by Alto or San Augustine?  Because let's just be honest...that schedule isn't much to brag about.  Lovelady is probably the best team on there and if I remember correctly they lost some good talent to graduation.  Your 2A opponents are consistently sitting at home come playoff time.  And your district opponents haven't been to good when they are in the playoffs.
 17. Wolves looked mighty good! Lost in the semis to eventual champion Gilmer by 2 29-27 I believe. Probably would have beat Gilmer the 2nd time but 95 degree weather coupled with SA playing their 4th game in a row and 5 out of 6 caught up to them. Many many bright spots for SA including several young kids (9th and 10th graders next year) going toe to toe with Gilmer in the semi-final game.
