This is probably the best headline I ever saw for high school football.  I played football for Ottawa Univ. in Kansas and two local high schools battled one Friday night.  West Seaman Devils ( I Think)  and the "Can't remember" TROJANS.  Anyway the headline the next morning read:  "Seaman rips through Trojan Defense."   ;D  You know the editor had a smile on his face for quite a while.

No one is giving Silsbee much of a chance in this one...but let me remind some of you that Silsbee has a trait of playing to the level of their competition.I'm not saying that they will win but might surprise some.They have the ability to make this intresting.Go Tigers!

From 610 to Woodlands on I45 north aint nothing nice on Friday evening, take 90 out of Beaumont to 1960 then take Hardy toll road between I 59 and I 45 at Humble, comes out at The Woodlands, done it many times,  2 hrs. 20 mins.

The downlow has a poll on this one.Pretty close at this point.Rockdale 52%...Cleveland 49%.About 17 people have voted so for. I think.

There are a few good games in round 2 but round 3 is where you start to separate the men from the boys.That round is loaded in all regions with big games.

These routs will take you about 3hrs 25 min.If you go I-10 to Houston and take 610N to I-45N towards conroe it will take about 2hrs 25min.This is according to map quest.Don't know what kind of traffic that you would encounter going the Houston route though.Haven't made my mind up yet.

Livingston runs the slot t and took it to Dayton Saturday night. It allows you to run right at somebody and control the football.  Teams that run the slot t effectively are usually looking to control the clock and play smashmouth football.  If your defense can't stop that then they can be in trouble.

So.If you are having trouble stopping it the only thing you can do is to match score for score and hope you are ahead at the end with as little time left as possible for this type of offense?

How did this location and time come about?Going to be hard to make the kickoff unless I and my friend can take off early.I like Saturday games.

Thanks Eagle.I know teams that run the slot t can cause problems.I also think it is only as good as your execution is.I hear Liberty Hill runs it to allmost perfection and it's hard to stop on them.Don't know how well Caldwell runs it but I'm sure they do a decent job.

I disagree with his call but I'm glad he made it.You have to favor King in the overtime.Nederland was banged up.New qb,receiver and their stud running back hampered by leg cramps.They could only muster one score the second half.Was a heck of a ball game and Ned hung in there with all that against them.

Caldwell runs the slot t.Will this be the first time wo-s has seen it?How do you defend it?I know in the past when we have faced offenses we did not play much( Ennis spread for one )they would take it to us for at least the first half before we could make half time adjustments.Did Vidor run that or the wing t?I know they did well with it in our scrimmage against them. Just a little concerned.Anyone have any info.

I had just celebrated my 16th birthday but I was there...  I remember being in the depths of depression when we thought we had lost and then miraculously finding out that we had actually won

Interesting that Sterling made the playoffs this year.

Another bit of trivia....

Paris (who prevented WO-S from winning 3 state 4A titles in 1988) qualified for the playoffs this year in 3A as district champs.  Any guess when their last playoff win was?

Yes sir,they were what you would call a one year wonder that's for sure.Pairs was not a fluke that day.They beat us running that sweep play over and over and we just couldn't stop it.

I was at the Sterling game also.I doubt old dan would be able to jump today but I bet he would try.

We couldn't catch a cold in the Silsbee game. We were flat and played like crap, it happens at every level.

I definetly think that WOS is the better team, just not that much better than Silsbee to say the Stangs had an off game for the reason of the close win. That is just not the case.

But, WOS won, and that's all that matters.

I agree aggie.Silsbee did a heck of a job against the stangs.I have been suspect to our offense all year even though we have put up a lot of numbers.

The Lord said we would always have the poor with us.Message boards will all ways have these types with us also.

All I can say is Poor Coach Morrison and them O'Field Bobcats.... WOS is getting revved up for the playoff and Coach D Hooks isn't going to back off until probably after halftime...

No disrespect intended for any team but this is one of the weakest district in the state.Except for silsbee they have all been blowouts for wo-s.How by playing weak teams dose that get you ready for the playoffs.It doesn't. I'll be glad when these teams field competitive teams that they have in the past and this districts race means something.Don't get me wrong.My intent is not to belittle any team.I just want to see some good football played in this district.These games have really become boaring.Ok let me have it.

Dose not seem like a dumb reason to the coach.Commitment comes with a price and all involved should respect that commitment.The coaches respond shows the kids that this is a big deal.
