There aren't many/any threads on WOS but look on the GOTW thread at the top and the majority of the people are picking WOS to win.  I was amazed to see so many from other areas picking WOS over Giddings.  One poster said he was glad for once that Giddings is the underdog.  I'm not sure where he gets that, but last time I looked, Giddings was ranked #1, not us.  We will be after Friday night, though.

I was just so surprised to see so many people pulling for us and actually believing that we will do it.

The poll over there has wo-s at about 69% to Giddings 34%.You can take that with a grain of salt.I would think that most voting against giddings is because of their #1 ranking and would like to see them go down for that reason.

Giddings is #1 and has basically their whole team back.WO-S was beat by giddings last year and is in a rebuilding year.This is a no brainner.Giddings should stomp us. ;D

To me.A rivalry is when two teams have played each other over a period of time and when they meet you can throw out the records because thier goal of winning is so intense anything can happen.

Well.In the early years my wife would tag along even though she could care less.Guess she wanted to make sure I came straight home :.At my age now all she says is " You ain't left yet ". ;D

I just don't see how you can say the first half was really bad against Coldsprings. We had the ball 17 plays and scored twice. They had the ball 33 plays and scored once. The interception was a very questionable call. I was right there, two feet away and the other receiver pushed Ronnie. Luckily, it didn't hurt us in the end, but I'm just not seeing how that was such a bad half, especially when you know that the Mustangs are a second half team.

I guess when you score 39 in the second half to just 12 in the first half,you have to say the first half wasn't that good in that respect.We have been playing like that all year.As long as we can hold the other team below what we can score in the first two quarters,that's ok with me.BTW.I thought the interception was a bad call as well.

Brock or no Brock giddings is going to be a handfull.I don't see this game being any different in the first half than any other this year.I'm talking about the Stangs slow start.I know we are a second half team but the Giddings D is good.If we can keep them off the board in the first half,I think that will be huge for the stangs.I really think the Stangs are the better team.I think they were better last year.If we play well ( not like last year ) we win.

That's why Kelly gets no respect, even when they are good(like this year)  We don't know who they play and have no way to compare their achievements.   Even one game this year against a decent 3A or 4A program would have given us some idea if they are what you think they are.

They played 5A state ranked Sulphur this year and beat them!!!!!!!!!

I understand one week at a time, and that's for the players and coaches.  The fans can look ahead and play the what if game. It was only for discussion.

I hear ya scalp'em.Over on the downlow they have several threads on teams talking about thier chances of being state champs.One is asking who will win state for each classification.Interesting thing is WO-S is in the finals by most and Giddings is not mentioned at all.Now that's looking a little too far ahead for me.

People seem to forget that we beat Giddings the first time and they won the second time.  We had a hurdle from LaMarque for years and finally overcame it in 2000.  I firmly believe our meeting with Giddings this year will be victorious for the Mustangs.

We have their number.Played poor last year and still hung with them.We play well this time...we go to round three.

Belly ache away. We need to sharpen our passing game, and it's not our job to make BC look better. We're at a disadvantage in that we're playing our weakest opponent going into the playoffs, then a playoff team that is from a very weak district, then the TOP TEAM IN THE STATE (barring an upset in round one of one of us).

Right on.Have made that point as well.

We all know BC isn't going to beat WO-S, but why does everytime a BC fan says anything could happen, they get ripped a new one?  I know WO-S will score at will, and probably will score nearly everytime they get the ball, if not every time.  But sheesh, let us BC folks support our team in any way that we can, we need to at least have that since we have an 0-10 season again.

Not ripping.Just don't think that many things will happen as was posted for BC to win.Some maybe but not all.

Back to the original topic...

I believe in the saying "any giving night".. BC puts enough points on the board to win games.. ( 35 VS Orangefield, 26 vs Hardin-Jefferson,26 vs Kirbyville, in the 20's vs Hamshire Fannett).. They just need to get thier defense down..to pull the upset BC is going to HAVE to wrap up WO-S players everytime they attempt to make the tackle ( West Orange is too fast to let free!!), and  BC will certaintly need to gang tackle alot ( 11 men to the ball every play)... and they can't have any penalties or turnovers (especially interceptions) and must take any and every mistake mustangs make, (fumbles) also they need a good special teams game... If BC comes out pumped up,especially those Seniors they have playing thier last game, stand tall not intimidated they can upset WO-S, anything's possible.. 8) They have a great opprotunity and I hope they battle 'till the last whistle!! GO CARDINALS!!!

Soooooo.You are saying.

1.Bridge City can score a lot of points on WO-S

2.BC defense will wrap up on every tackle

3.BC defense will have 11 men on the ball every play

4.The Mustangs will make mistakes and BC will take advantage of this

5.BC will not have any penalties are fumbles

6.BC will have a good special teams game

7.BC will be pumped up and not intimidated

If they do all of these,BC will upset WO-S.Sorry not going to happen.I will give you # 7 though.

They won't. The Super. was on KOGT this morning already saying it wasn't enough money to do what he wanted to do and they were going to be short on completing some of the items on the list. Explain how that can be 12 hours after the bond passes?

It's hard to go with a team that just came off a blow out lost to a good team and has another good team to face this week.You would think this an easy pick.However,I still think Ned is capable of winning this game IF....Lumberton dose not jump up big early and the dogs of last week stay home.

I really don't like these type of games right before the playoffs.I didn't like that Liberty game last year where we won 60-0.Makes you fell unstopable.We didn't execute at all the next week and got beat.Anyways...we should score in the upper 40s,mid 50s.

I think all coaches think about what might happen if their kids don't play well in a game.I think they have their concerns with injuries and the like.If that's uptight I guess you could say yes.

Hey Bleed.Ya'll have some great kids over there and you'er right they don't give up and come to play every game.Today I have to root for my Stangs but tomorrow I'll be back pulling for the Bobcats.

We do!!!!!!!!!.We just can't hold on to the ball.Not to belittle the kids but if you'er having a problem catching the ball then you don't throw it as much.I will agree that we need to be able to throw to keep a defense honest.

You can throw out the records for this one.Very few one sided games between these two.It should be another war tonight.Lets hope both teams come out injury free.

Yes.kirbyville is no stronger than any team we have faced.

This game will be no different than any other thus far.Our defense will keep us in the game,giving our offense the chance to win it in the second half.That's about as close to a prediction that I'm willing to give.GO STANGS.
