the QB at west orange-stark---------- #1 BIG AND STRONG #2 VERY SMART #3 HE CAN PUT THE BALL IN THE AIR RUNNING FULL STRIDE #4 THIS KID IS (NOT SLOW) #5 HE CAN BRAKE TACKLES VERY EASY #6 HE HAS GOOD VISION OF ALL THE FIELD #7 HE HAS SOME OF THE BEST RECIVERS IN THE STATE ( AS WE CALL THEM THE GOOD HANDS PEOPLE)
I'll agree he is all that,BUT,his timing is way off.Just about all his long balls are well beyond his receivers.Nonetheless he is a good one.

I am just gonna go camp out up at the stadium, from Thursday thru Monday. ;D
You just might have the right idea there 1.

To say I was shocked when I heard we won would be an understatement.
-
Oh my, How did you leave?
Well Coop, that power running game Cal had would just eat up the clock...they did it all game long and I thought they would just run the clock out.
-
For me it was the 2000 Calallen game because I left with 2 minutes left in the game down 21-20...hanging my head as I walked to my truck...talking to myself about coming so close going to state.I know,I know...no faith, but Calallen, when they had the ball would keep it for 6 to 8 minutes and we just handed it back to them.Well we all know what took place after that.Everyone was celebrating while I was crying in my beer on the way home.I was close to Winnie when I herd we had won on the radio.I never will forget that...wish I had been their to see it.
-
You'll are just handling the situation wrong...you have to exercise your god given authority as a man....next time try this approach.
"Woman your going to the game whether you like it or not and you better be ready at 630."
Then what do you tell her after you pick yourself up off the floor. ;D
-
I don't have to worry about that anymore. My wife says she has done her time. She never was a football fan anyway, just did it to make me happy. She hasn't gone sense the mid 90s and I started taken her in the late 60s,so I guess she has done her duty. ;D

Non-district.Toss up between Ned. and Jasper. Both are always good games.Haven't played Ned in a while so I'll go with them.
Dristrict.Silsbee.
Playoff matchup.Who else but La Vega.

Only bright spot for Vidor was pulling off the double steal to score their run.Still can't beleive lcm tried to gun down the runner at second with a man on third.Lot of ball yet to be played and I still think the top three of lcm,png and vidor will be there at the end.
Gunho
What you should have said was, "I can't believe Vidor was stealing down eight runs." You should also be made aware that with that lead and runners at the corners, you always try to gun down the runner at second. (I should not say always, but that is how the game is supposed to be be played in that situation)
Good thing I'm not a coach. ;D

When I see defensive player in area baseball asked about one name hits my name automatically - Jon Gunn at LCM
Well, it looks like Jon (Chic-Chick) Gun left his bullets at home tonight against PNG. Hate to point out anybody's errors, but you guys gave VJ Bunner some smack. Mr. Gunn proved that he is just like everybody else, not perfect!
Gunn would be the first to agree with you about not being perfect. However,he did score their only run and had two of their four hits.Had he not made the error it would have gotten them out of the inning but they were already down by one and lcm couldn't even overcome that.

I had to look it up to back up my above statement, but here it is for the last 20 years of area high school football, and teams that played in final game
2005 2A Newton Lost
2004 2A Newton Lost
2004 3A Jasper Lost
2000 4A WOS Lost
1999 4A PNG Lost
1998 4A WOS Lost
1997 4A WOS WON
1-6 in title games for area teams the last 20 years. Not very good for Golden Triangle football. This shows just how strong Texas high school football is, and the low percentage of even making it to the title game is.
1987 & 1988 for wos.Not '97 '98.

21-17
LCM is exactly what I thought they were going to be. That group of kids will be fun to watch for the next two years for sure. I wasn't there long but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by WOS. I agree with espn2, they are a far cry from where we were. However, we are far removed from where we were just a few years ago and are headed in the right direction. Good job to Coach Rivers and Coach Rojas and all of the coaches that are trying to put this program back together. Keep working on the fundamentals. And as always a good job by Coach Griff and his staff.
I was there for a little while.Lots of errors on both sides.Wo-s looks small but they are scrapy.

I remember those png title games well. For the 1975 game I just turned 31.
-
My memories from the same time and place, are that yes, those games were usually close, but there was one downside to it. The visiting team and fans, who were playing in a different state, always felt they were victimized by unfair and unreasonable calls by the officials.
Those little things, little variations on the normal rules, that might affect the outcome of the game. Such as getting a flag for violating the rule that says the offensive linemen are not allowed to block if the line of scrimmage is inside the five yard line.
Little things like that.
Yeah.I remember in LA. you could advance a fumble and at that time you could not in TX.There was a lot of confusion when those type of things happend. It was still cool playing out of state though.
-
It is not uncommon for teams so close to the border to play teams out of state. I actually think that it gives teams the chance to play against some completly different styles of football.
We played Sulphur and Lake Charles La Grange when I went to Stark. They were always a good ball club and made for some good games. It was fun playing teams out of state.

Well all I know is that our defense played thier butts off.LV should have hung at least 28 on us in the second half considering where they started each drive.I knew it was just a matter of time utile they would score. You can't give up that kind of filed position punt after punt and expect your defense to hold a team like LV.We almost did though. It took them untile 4 minutes left in the game to finally punch it in.You can't ask anymore from your defense than that.I i'm proud of you guys.
Now on the other side of the ball. The first half was great. We kept them guessing at what we were going to do.Very balanced attack. The second half was a nightmare. It looked like we were only running the same couple of plays time after time.If this is all a defense has to defend against,it's not hard to shut down.Imo I would have liked to see a little bit of diversity in the play calling.Might have worked and might not have but I would try something.Ofcourse starting inside your 5 yrd.line you have to be careful and that is what the coaches decided to do.
Great season Mustangs.

I haven't had the opportunity to watch WO-S, but I have had the privelege of watching the pirates twice this season, including once in the playoffs. They play at a level of intensity that you only see in state contenders. I cannot accurately predict a score due o my lack of knowledge on WO-S but I do not expect to WO-S to win as easily as some you assume they will.
You want to know about WO-S.You said it in your second sentence. No one I know has said we will win easy. This will be a war that we think we can win is all we are saying. It's the people from LV that are talking blow out and it's going to be ugly for wo-s.
-
Without our 2 Stud RB's we tore Marlin up. Sure you folks down there have heard of them?? We would have hung 70 on the if the Brothers would have played. Our Line is the biggest in the State just ask coach Willie here.
Your big line will be huffing & puffing by the third quarter. We will just be getting started.

La Vega defeated
Anything is possible.Even you having to change your name after Friday. :-*
-
If that dosen't...some posters from LV are saying this could get ugly for wos real quick. >

Thats good to hear.To be fair though, timing is not just on the qb.There are other factors to be considered that makes those kind of passes work.I didn't mean for my earlier post to imply it was totally the qb fault.
