Our defense is much improved from last season. Our new defensive coordinator has done a great job. He was hired as the new head baseball coach as well. Not looking ahead but I think we will only lose 3 starters on defense. We lose basically the entire offensive production in Reece and Briggs which is gonna hurt. But we will still be pretty decent overall next season

I was thinking about that the other day. This is the year for Bellville to make it happen if it's going to.

I keep seeing folks talk about how "talented" this team is (as if it's not as talented as usual). The only area that is not where it would usually be is at the QB position. Other than that, the Mustangs are loaded. Early on we were hurting at the LB position, but those guys have come miles since the beginning of the season. They are playing like seasoned vets and it shows with 2 shut outs and 2 one score games in the last 4. In fact, the defense has 2 D1 commits with a 3rd any day with Shaw supposed to commit soon. The O-line is big and has a D1 commit to OU. We definitely are not "less" talented than normal. We just have a sore spot, but its getting better, too.

I said earlier in the season if we played Bellville then we would lose but if we met them in the 3rd round that would give us time to improve and get better. We have gotten better and I like our chances. They have a good defense but not as good as Jasper and I think we can score 3-4 td's and that might be enough.Key is to keep the mistakes to a minimum and not turn the ball over.

#99 is a big kid who is trying to figure things out as he is making plays. # 11 is your receiver, and #5 jets to the corners but will also run up the middle. #10 is your bread-and-butter man, he doesn’t like to be taken down easily, and will use the strength in his legs to get extra yards or, for a breakout score. Your secondary has its weakness, but we can’t overlook that they can make a play for interception. IMO our defense will need to stop the run.

Not sure we can stop their run game.No one has yet.We have to contain it some what with no big burst.

  4. Key to this game is if we can minimize Reese and Briggs on their scoring. They going to get their yardage. We just going to have to get some stops and play good pass defense. Not only do we have to contend with those two their defense is pretty stout too.Going to have to be mistake free game on our part.Going to be like the Jasper game with a much better offense to deal with.Ihave no clue about the score.

I been thinking more like a 40-38 type game.

I don't know if it will be that high scoring.Jasper's offense is scoring a little more in recent games but their defense which has been stingy is giving up more points to.They have only scored 187 points in 10 games. That's only 18.7 point average a game.WOS has a pretty stingy defense too.Their offense, though scoring a lot of points,is doing it mainly on special teams, interceptions and short fields. So unless Jasper has a breakdown on defense I don't see a high scoring game.Carthage only beat them 28-0.I'm thinking WOS 28-14.

Good point.  Seems like WO-S has had a lot of short fields due to special teams, turnovers and such.  Going 75 yards against Jaspers defense is a different animal. And don't talk Carthage yet, we're talking different planet. Should be interesting this week tho.

My thoughts exactly. Can't remember the last time we have had to sustain a drive deep inside our on territory.Carthage is two games away. One at a time.If we do get past Jasper Bellville should be waiting on us and that my friends will be a task in itself. From here on out one at a time.
