1. What about former player Ramona Jones Locke?
2. I don't know why they won't play it in Woodville either. Neutral/central location and nice field. Huntsville is way out of the way for Silsbee. Too far I think and it would throw them off. Rice doesn't make sense either. Also, does Silsbee have a third starter if it goes to three games?
3. I am not taking away anything from Nederland's pitching. Sandersons, the quarterback and the other starting pitcher are solid. My concern is whether or not Nederland can score runs against good quality pitching. I heard that Hutto did not have any good pitching. That's all I was trying to say.
4. I heard from someone at the last game that Hutto was the worst 2nd round opponent he has ever seen! Will be a big change of pace in the type of pitching the Dogs will see this game. I have a feeling if they give up more than 2 runs in any game they won't be able to win it.
5.
Best of 3 Series Game 1 Friday 7 pm at Langham Creek Game 2 Saturday 3pm at Clear Lake(Game 3 to follow if necessary)
random!
6. I would hope Chris Babin and Kevin Flanigan are among the finalists!
7. Getting this "move in" reminds me of when Nederland got a 6-foot-5 "move in" the year after Forney and Smith left.
8. Talent yes but no speed. That's the problem. None of them boys have running from the cops type speed.
9. If Vidor's OC is headed to H-J as the new coach there the Pirates are in need of a new OC. Mathews doesn't call the plays so this is a pretty pivotal position for them. here are some guys that could be possiblitlies. 1. Brian Huckabay- former Orangefield head coach who is now OC at Hull-Daisetta and runs the Slot-T. Is friends with Mathews and both from Bridge City so they'd probably work together well. Will be seamless transition as they run the same offense. Huckaby is a masterful play caller. 2. Greg Neece- Probably on borrowed time in Kirbyville so why not get back to doing what he does best- running an offense . Plus he already lives in Vidor so it will be a shorter commute for him. Only complication is the Wing-T is what he runs but it isn't too far off from Mathews' slot-T. 3. More than likely Vidor will not have the money for an experienced OC and Mathews will promote some random assistant already on the staff.
10. He did have success at Westbuy and Willowridge. Spread guy so I don't think too much will change at Ozen. Is kind of interesting that for the second year in a row Rodney has brought in a coach that somebody else didn't want. Crosby's Flanigan and now North Crowley's Magee.
11. They are getting an experienced hire. I am hearing Keeath Magee
12. Congrats to EC but you've got to feel for those AP kids as that is a tough way to lose a game. I remember a team losing in the regional final last year because of a similar type call.
13.

This is one game where Saveat will have the coaching advantage
Not sure how to take that?
I've seen both and Saveat is better than the Crosby coach
14. This is the perfect matchup/scenario for Nederland! Brian English will have the adjustment's to counter Georgetown and lead the Dogs to the regional tournament for the second time in the past three years
15. This is one game where Saveat will have the coaching advantage
16. Is this within UIL rules? I am pretty sure you can't have an early release for an athletic event. Ozen's Jeff Nelson was suspended for having a practice during normal school hours. How is this any different? Kids are getting out of class for sports.
17. Heard an analyst on the radio say great things about McDonald. As for C-Mike, that 40 time is a better one thatn Arian Foster had at the combine!
18.

Nederland fans are defending Lee because they want to keep him in the district so English can outcoach him again year after year. They are terrified of what could happen if Central gets a real coach and not a bus driver. They are terrified of what could happen if Central gets a real coach and not a bus driver.
Lee had an effective DEFENSIVE game plan against Nederland. Why no praises for that accomplishment? On the offensive end, there were not many plays that were run, but Central made their shots by creating them (for the most part). What wasn't done by the coach that should have been done? What did he do differently in this game that he didn't do in those 27/28 wins?
You made my point for me. They don't run any set plays just a go one-on-one park ball offense. They have no offensive system or rythm whatsoever. Put that talent into a system and develop that talent and the sky is the limit. Otherwise they'll lose in the second round year after year after year to inferior teams.
19.
Honest question....Is this a game I can attend with my son or do I have to worry about dodging fists and bullets getting to the car?
Just because Yates is a black school doesn't mean they are ghetto thugs. Though none of the basketball players live there, the Third Ward is where most of the students and the school are and is generally thought of in a better light and more classy than the Fifth Ward where Kashmere is from which is straight hood. Essentially, the Third Ward is like the Pear Orchard in Beaumont. A historically black neighborhood but a decent one. You saw/heard what happened with Kashmere Friday night but that won't happen with Yates because they are different schools/different communities. Besides, I have a feeling Silsbee fans will be heading to their cars much sooner than the Yates fans so there should be no problems.
20. Nederland fans are defending Lee because they want to keep him in the district so English can outcoach him again year after year. They are terrified of what could happen if Central gets a real coach and not a bus driver.
21. Congratulations to the Ozen Panthers as they continue to show themselves as the class of the area in 4A basketball
22. Why not blame the coach? there is no reason they should not get past the second round with the talent they have over there. Just like in football Central needs to clean house in basketball and bring in a real coach who can develop talent and players.
23. Silsbee with Todd Sutherland as coach and they might have a chance...
