CP had 471 total yards and Manvel had 472. I would say pretty dang good matchup. Ultimately CP had 4 turnovers to Manvels 1 and against a team like Manvel that's almost impossible to overcome. One of the CP turnovers was basically in garbage time. Was a 5pt game in the 4th and then Mavel scored their only td in the second half to get a 12pt win. Probably see these 2 again next year. Kid for CP threw for over 400 yds and is back next year with his 2 best receivers. Manvel will be nasty again.

I'm excited about seeing these defenses. Think CP is giving up around 8pts per game and Manvel around 10. I'm sure both teams have given up some of those points in garbage time because they have both been so dominant and had very lopsided victories. I think the CP 49-0 win over a Conally team that just took Temple to the wire was their most impressive win. Manvels win over NS was super impressive.

I would have to look and make sure but I think CP is 43-1 up to this game the last 3 years. Manvel is a monster and has not been challenged this year other than the NS game. Is this game going to be the 2 best teams in the state on the 5a level and will it be close?

Good money says PNG with the loss but I'm hoping they pull of the upset. I think PNG will only get better the next couple of years.

I could tell you what happened to defense in Dayton. Stewart left. Since he has stepped down as head coach Dayton has consistently fielded one of the worst defenses statistically in our district. Most really good teams have one thing in common. Great coaching and really good defenses. Check out Manvel and CP next week. Probably the best 2 defenses in the state at the 5a level. Also 2 of the top teams in the state.

What? That post reminds me of the issues our football team had. Very unorganized. I never hate anyone and particularly any of these coaches. Fact is I just don't think some of them are that good. But until everyone around here wakes up I don't see any deep playoffs runs from our district.

Crosby has only been past the 2nd round once since 2009. With the talent they have been having it's unacceptable.

Think this says more about our district than anything. Crosby is the best team in our district and has been for a while and they have only been past the 2nd round once since 2010. Barring a miracle tomorrow Crosby is the only team in our district to get past the 2nd round in the last 5 years.

Dang man this is not good. If this game continues on like this it will confirm my opinion of our district and let me know just how far Dayton has fallen.

Like I said I will be checking out the 5a D1 Championship game next week. Lol. Think Manvel and CP both cruise this week barring some divine intervention.

That was kinda my thinking.

Definitely be for state. Unless something crazy happens winner of that game will take it all.

I honestly think FB will need a miracle to win this game. They give up a ton of points and their district other than Manvel was way down. Only issue I see is possibly bad weather which is sometimes a great equalizer.

True. Or you could use the tried and true method of just hiring friends. Winning isn't everything. Keeping locals gainfully employed is much more important.

PNG big in this one. The way the bracket is this year the first round was a much tougher matchup for Crosby and PNG the first round. Wish PNG the best. I will most likely come watch them play CS the 3rd round and enjoy the sea of purple.
