Jasper @ Silsbee Friday.  Looks like I FINALLY get to watch my home team play.

Can't wait.  Heres hoping for a win and Second Place in district standings.

Game is huge.

It is definitely baseball season.  Central showing true grit and determination with their play.  I am glad to see good, young ball players from Central making a go of it and not being a "throw away" game for the rest of the district.  Makes the other teams come ready to play all year and heats up the playoff race at the end of the season.

Here is to good baseball Central.  keep up the good work.

Stomped is kinda extravagant.  I seem to remember that Silsbee beat you pretty bad the first time around. 

I am gonna ask you a serious question? 

If there was no steal in the last seconds of the regional finals would Silsbee have won the State Title?

3-4 with 3 homeruns Thursday night against Kingwood HS.

Also the (complete game) winning pitcher.

Great job tigers.  Looks like they are back on track.  Quality wins.  Even the loss to BC is something to keep building on.  Don't look Back BC that is Silsbee and Jasper on your tail.

I was at this game.  Amazing how errors can effect one team and not the other.  I believe Central had more errors in the game, but Nederland just couldn't take advantage of them.  Central just slowly chipped away at the lead.  Had a big 7th inning and took the win.

A "ban" is a knee-jerk reaction, by people who might not have even played the game before. A bad idea. A much better idea would be to tune the metal bats down, by manufacturing them with more weight in the handel and less in the barrel. Easily done, everyone happy.

Nothing is a "knee Jerk" reaction when it comes to the safety of our kids.  We all know the

standard that kids are getting bigger and stronger and starting to utilize their talents earlier in their careers.  That leads to injuries whether it be from a bat or from poor conditioning and overuse.

We have a large number of kids that come out of this area with "true" talent.  The bat will not effect their skills.  Only improve them.  And who knows?  It could even lead to a more generalized standard of talent and allow even more kids who may not get the "coaching" attention that the early talent gets.

Baseball is a game of skill.  I love the small ball atmosphere and just because the home run numbers will diminish "slightly" the game of baseball will still be exciting and great.

Is there a rule for a high school player wanting to use Wood?? Can he use wood?? or does that have to be voted in???? Just wondering  ??? ??? ???

Wood bats are allowed in HIgh School as long as they meet the specifications:

"Each bat shall be:

          In diameter at thickest part: (wood) 2 3/4 inches or less

          In length:  36 inches or less

          In weight:  A bat shall not weigh, numerically, more than three ounces

                          less than the length of the bat."

Is there a link to District Standings?  IF not, how hard to create?

Would be a great resource for this forum.

Haven't seen HJ yet.  Know about the game at HF but that is about it.

Could be tough to get back in the district though if either lose. 

Could get ugly pretty quick.

Dogs' in 5.  Too much hitting after what Silsbee accomplished.

District is shaping up pretty fast.  If everyone keeps going strong

then district could be decided in the last 2 weeks of season??

Wouldn't hurt any part of the game.  May save some kids from injuries but overall I do not think it would matter in the long run.

I wouldn't bring it up, but I would support it if started.

anyone here ever umpired a game?  Just curious...  Forgive me if I am curt or rude but I think it needs saying.

I am sure there are not enough umpires to do all the games.  Maybe some of the

"excellent stand umpires" with their infinite knowledge of the rules and unquestionable judgement should become an umpire.

The fact is that there are no sports officials who call perfect games and there are even less games that satisfy everyone.  Especially parents.

Most of the time you are 50% right or 50% wrong as an official.

Ok, now that is has been said let the flood gates open.

I was at the Jasper game.  Reagan looked to be tiring around the end of the Fourth Inning.  Orangefield has an OK team.  May not win alot of games against the bigger schools in the district this year, but look for them to be in the middle of the standings and might very well upset someone down the line.  Freshman Pitcher Jace was ok.  With a little experience and conditioning and most of these guys won't want to face him.  Will be an excellent left handed pitcher down the road. 

With that said, the Dogs' were an outstanding hitting team.  Pitching was solid.  Defense was lights out until the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings when they got a little lazy and committed a few errors.  Do this in a game with something on the line and the Dogs' will be watching the playoffs on this site.
