  1. Let them talk.....makes for a good read.  Just remember Silsbee is 1 & 1 in games played against BC.  Jasper is up 1 with one to go against BC.  Silsbee still has a game left with Jasper.

They are all good teams, and in baseball playoffs,  you play 3 game series if you are more balanced and play 1 game series if you have a "ace".  So all the "baiting" by the Silsbee posters in this thread should be taken with a grain of salt.

The district race is far from over, and the playoffs are just down the road.  BC is finding out where they are weak now......and maybe get it straight for "down the road".  The district will be well represented by the teams making the playoffs, and in the playoffs.......anything can happen.

    Good Luck to All!!

Spunds like a humbled and politically correct response.    ;)  But I like humble.  :)

  2. Shawn Flores for PNG - no hits, 11K's, no walks, no score for Central

By the way, Central is a very much improved team this year.  They have the ability to win on any given night.

Even though Joel Schooling pitched a great game against got the win you can never ignore a No -No.  Another day for Joel but today it goes to Shawn Flores for Pitcher of the Week.  Great job to get a no hitter no matter the team or the district.

Not real sure of the player of the week as so many had similiar peformances but B. Armstrong's 6 -6, 2 triples and a homer is a heck of a night at the plate.  Leaning that way until more data surfaces.

  3. I don't understand the ruling on this play.  If there is a play at the plate, or any base for that matter, the baserunner has to slide or will be called out.  If the ball is 2 feet up the line and the baseline is 100% blocked what should the runner do?  He can't just stop and give himself up.  By rule he has to slide.  Sounds like this baserunner did the right thing.

Even if the plate is blocked the runner must slide or try and avoid the tag.  If you initiate contact with the sole purpose of dislodging the ball, and there really is no other reason, then you will be called out, because it is malicious and can cause serious injuries.

By the way, if anyone here thinks that if a player tries to run someone over that he is not trying to hit them hard enough to take his mind off holding on to the ball then you are seriously confused.  With that intent in mind it is malicious.  Period.

Yes, it is a judgement call, but it can be defensive as well as offensive.

  4. Well now the district is going to get interesting!

GET interesting?  This district was hot before it started playing.  This loss by BC was huge because now with most of the tough games off their schedule, except for Jasper (no offense towards the other teams meant) the pressure is on BC now.  Jasper has a great opportunity Tuesday to put BC in 3rd place in the district with a win.

  5. Not only would I scream at the umpire, but I would heckle and make fun of her the entire ballgame. Women should be fans, not umpires. A woman that calls me out on a close play better be ready to catch some grief. I'm 42 years old on a slowpitch softball team, and the integrity of the game is upheld even there. I know amout woman's suffrage and all that, I just think woman need to stay in the stands, and cheer for the men when it comes to baseball. Personel Opinion. Nothing More.

I have to admit I didn't expect this kind of ignorance.  :-\
