  1. If Statum threw last game then who will throw?  I haven't heard about any other experienced pitchers who can match the Dogs' hitting prowess. (Yes, I know Statum is a Freshman).

I was at the first game and if Jasper keeps hitting like they have and Statum isn't in, then it could be ugly.

    Jasper 7 - OF 4

District is to tough at the top, but if somebody stumbles and HJ keeps winning they might sneak in.

  2. A little off topic but,

if BC throws Meeks against Silsbee, who will be throwing against Buna Saturday?  ???

Could be interesting too see how Coach Bryant handles this one.  Would hate for them to forget about a good Buna squad.  ;)

They have Jasper on Tuesday and I would probably guess Stringer will throw against them.

  3. well this guy is sure not going to join an umpire chapter..I know the HE** you guys take from fans, coaches, etc...:-) and if what you say is true then I rest easy knowing our umpires are up to date...but some of the ones I have witnessed in varsity HS games had no business even being the park much less umping it...overall a great job by the blues...just wish small schools could get 4-5A umpires..i know i know just a dreAm

Has nothing to do with classification (3A, 4A, 5A) etc.  All umpires are independent contractors.  We all get rotated as long as we have the training to do 3-Man mechanics.

If you do not have this training then you will stay on 2-man games.  Much more organized than you think.  Some of us go to clinics, South Texas, Arizona, Florida, etc.  These cost good money and time away from families.  Most can't afford this training but still are good umpires.  Game gets much more mental if fans, coaches and player comments are absorbed.  You want a better game then my advice would be to stay quiet, encourage players to persevere and wait until there is a real reason to complain (It will be obvious to everybody, not just the affected team.)

  4. stringer and hicks for relief works pretty well

Hasn't Stringer has gotten the hook kinda early the last two times he has thrown?

I can't remember all the details but it seems like the freshman Hicks and BC's offense has bailed him out.

Not that he is a bad pitcher but definitely not a 1-2 punch right now.  I figure he will settle down and finish strong.

  5. This will not be popular but I think it is time.

Today ,so far, there were 2 incidents where players verbally abused an umpire

    and a coach.

Now I am not defending the umpires, the players, or the coaches and their situations, but what I am defending is the sportsmanship and poise that is degenerating within Baseball right before our eyes.

What has happened to it??  I for one have no answer, but I am looking for it every time an incident happens that pushes our kids and coaches over the line.

I submit the following for review and study.  May it contribute, if only a little, to the game and its participants.

This is the hidden content, please

  6. No matter how bad the umpire is, you can't blame a loss on the officials.  The worst call I have personally ever seen was made, and resulted in the ejection of the pitcher, catcher, and coach for WB. There should be requirements on high school umpires, such as you can't be blind, retarded, or mentally incompetent. The blue behind the plate at this game falls under all three categories.

How does a call result in the ejection of 3 people?  I am curious...  what happened?

  7. I am glad I was finally here to watch a game.

Parsons was lights out with that offspeed stuff, nasty curve, killer change up.

I really enjoyed watching him pitch.  Great stuff. Silsbee finally figured it out in the 5th inning and put a couple of hits together, that along with costly errors gave Silsbee the lead and Schooling never looked back.

Jasper put some big hits together.  Single, sac bunt then a double in the 4th.  Home Run off of an 0-2 hanging curve for Hart in the 5th. Another single, bunt and then a double in the 6th.  They really put them together.  Unfortunately they also put the errors together.

Schooling dialed it up after he got the lead.  Looked like he was a little cautious the whole game until the 6th inning.  I can't be sure but I think he struck out 3 batters over the last 2 innings.  Hargrave behind the plate was nails.  Firing pellets to get runners out.  Lights Out.

Another great game.  Can't wait for round two.

  8. How does Murphy not get both player and pitcher of the week when he hit three homeruns in one game off of 5A state powerhouse Kingwood pitching? His first homerun was the second pitch of the game that got the ball rollin for brook, and the other two were in clutch situations. Somethings not right her. Don't forget that he recieved hitter of the week on houston 5A baseball, but I forgot, the pitching isn't as good there.

Come on..   No doubt Murphy had a game to remember, but so did Thomas.  I believe this Thomas is a Junior, if I remember right.  To put up those numbers against a district foe that you have never beaten in district play is well worth recognizing, Thomas has my vote for Player of the Week hands down.

Not taking anything away from Murphy at all.  Both of them played at the top last week.   Give credit where it is due.

Talk about wanting the cake and the ice cream.   ::)

  9. dang coach you trippin now :D but foreal people actin like we not good or something, but it dont matter, we just go have to let our action speak louder then our words, beacause peole dont get the picture when we say stuff, we go have to do it to really get our point across.... >:(

It is definitely baseball season.  Central showing true grit and determination with their play.  I am glad to see good, young ball players from Central making a go of it and not being a "throw away" game for the rest of the district.  Makes the other teams come ready to play all year and heats up the playoff race at the end of the season.

Here is to good baseball Central.  keep up the good work.

Seems like I gave you you're props.  Keep up the good work.
