  1. I do have a serious question. We all know that WOS has a storied program. That is not a question and we all know that most (not all) of the community wants Toby (that too is not a question). We hear about keeping the tradition going and that also is important. I am asking wouldn't it be a lot important to get a guy who will take WOS to the next level (as in a Carthage), not just keep the tradition alive?

Franklin moving back up to 3AD1... Lots of places they could go... With Mexia Teague Groesbeck or Cameron Rockdale Lorena or Diboll Coldspring Crockett

Going to interesting which way they go with a couple of those school, with Shepherd going down to 3A they may want to try and put those school that are closer (like: Coldspring, Shepherd, Tarkington, Diboll) in a district, or heck maybe not and have them all traveling all over the place.

Orangefield and Shepherd move down to 3A DI

    Diboll stays 3A DI

There sure are some happy folks in Shepherd today. Should be way more competitive games then what we have had with Carthage and others in that district we were in. Way better for the other sports also. It's a no brainer but should bring more meaning to the Shepherd vs. Coldspring games now.

We took advantage of an easy schedule basically... Only losses were to Shepherd (a head-scratching loss) and Diboll (In my opinion if QB doesn't turnover the ball in the red zone twice a game we could of won by 14).  Other than that although I have faith in my Trojans outside of the Diboll game, Anahuac will be our biggest challenge thus far.

I do agree, this was a head scratcher. I will chalk it up to the Miles jinx.

This is the hidden content, please

I hope these numbers are the direction they go, but it seems too practical to happen. It would be nice for Shepherd, just don't get our hopes up. I still say they cut the bottom number to try and shove a few more teams in the 4A division.

I know it has been stated (but I could not find it) When is UIL going to list the cut off numbers, sometime in Dec.?

Of course not... It's crazy that Cleveland will be rolling out with 6A numbers maybe they can start zoning North Cleveland (maybe) into some of the Coldspring and Shepherd areas to take some students off their hands.  As far as Shepherd competing in any sport don't get me started as me being a person that play for both Shepherd and Coldspring, the Pirates never had a decent season when I went there lol.  Let's just say we were getting our arse handed to on many occasions lol but when I went back to Coldspring we were definitely dishing out the arse whoopings.

I do not disagree that Shepherd has never been a sports powerhouse or ever will. I assume you graduated in 08? So you should know that in the last 10 years the tide has changed in the Coldspring vs. Shepherd games. So that is a tell-tell sign for both schools athletic programs. Coldspring is not no where who they used to be (and that is not a dig, just the truth), and that goes for all sports. We can't live in the past so those arse whoopings you are talking about, are few and far apart these days. Please don't say it is because Shepherd is 4A and Coldspring is 3A cause there are way few differences in school size than the team We play in district. I do wish you guys luck in the playoffs and hope you go on a deep run.

And as the 59 corridor continues to grow do not expect Shepherd to drop down soon as they are only 9 miles away from Cleveland and every time I pass through there Shepherd continues to grow... Mark my words in the next 2-4 seasons expect the Pirates to be 4A-D1

You may be right, but since the last realignment we only grew by 8 kids. So that is not growth like the Cleveland area by no means. A lot of the families that were here thru the early 2000's are leaving for a new group that has started to move in. Still it is going to be hard to grow when there are no homes to rent or room to build, Due to bigger acreage being own by families. Home shortages is one reason we can't get or keep good teachers (besides what the school district pays), or so they say.

Shepherd not only has a hard time completing in football, the other sports are as bad or worse. For example (if we stay in the same district with the same schools) Splendora will have something like 704 more kids than Shepherd does, as Coldspring will only have something like 39 less kids than Shepherd. It is a no win for use either way.

    You mispelled Woodville

Just wait and see.  Hardin is going to play like their football team and give the game away.

LOL, I will say Woodville does have one player that can swing it. But it will not be near enough to beat Hardin. But if by some miracle they do, they dang sure are not beating East Bernard.

Very unfortunate they have to meet in the 3rd round. I wish they would rank each Region 1-64 (the best they can) and play it that way.

Yes it does stink when the best teams are in one region. Would be nice to see them meet in a true championship.

Honestly I hope this happens... It doesn't feel right for Coldspring and Shepherd not to be in the same district but most likely this probably won't be the case... I think Shepherd has turned in 531 which still will be good enough for 4A-D2 numbers unless they push the cutoff line up more

I agree, I do think we will miss it again by just a few kids. Then UIL will stick us with a long travel for football games and then in all other sports will put us with the schools that are 2 1/2 times bigger than us. It is a no win situation. We do miss being in the same district as Coldspring, the game just isn't the same being a non district game. Good Luck to you guys Friday, bring home the district championship!

If that happens next time then probably not if we were to be placed in that Carthage Shepherd Jasper etc. district... At least for this go around we won't be dealing with Diboll anymore they turned in more than Shepherd and should be moving back up to 4A-D2 (if the snapshot number doesn't drastically moves up) so pretty much hopefully we will be the team to beat in district next season

Shepherd is hoping for a 17 spot move on the bottom number. If so we would be in 3A also. Will that happen more than likely not, but it would be nice for a change.
