1. That wasn't a shot at Vidor. I have some WONDERFUL family that lives there. Of course, I have some family born and raised in Port Neches and Groves that I don't claim.  ;D just a shot at invictus...must be a miserable life to be such a hater. I am cool with most Vidor peeps.

It also mentioned Riley starting..that was confusing..is he starting on the D-line or at LB? I would guess D-line. 4.
The Pirates and the Indians are going into this game with a lot of confidence in their team. This will be a huge road test for the Pirates to slow down an offense that avg. 35 points a game, that can score quick and has good skill kids. The Indians on the other hand have struggled to stop the run and will be facing a Vidor team that will line up and try to run over you and take three or four yards, then do it again and again. The key for Vidor coming off a very emotional week with the loss of teammate Matt Thomas is to stay focused and play their game. The key for PN-G is to get into the end zone against a stingy Vidor defense, they seem to have the weapons to do that.....but we will see. Good luck to both teams.
Come on now. You are supposed to talk trash, call names and predict a blowout for your team. That's what this thread is all about! ;D Just kidding. Nice assessment. I agree 100% with your post. It's nice to see some objectivity.
Wow. As vocal as you have been in your hatred for PNG, I figured you would go through heck and high water to come to this game. That's OK, we will give you a report on how Vidor's school song went. You never gave me an answer of how big, bad, mean ol' PNG kept you from playing it the year that you can't remember. Most people who post on here at least have enough loyalty and motivation to go to the games and support their team. I guess you only have the energy to type your hate on here. What a joke.
I have two small children.  I am not one of those idiots who will drag their babies out until late at night.  Their health and well-being is more important than anything to me, unlike some people who drag infants to high school football games.
Whhaaaaahhhhh! Cry me a river.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(  Get a babysitter. I repect Vidor's fan base, they have always supported their kids, even in the lean years. You are not part of that group. Be careful calling people idiots, because you have shown yourself to be one on this board.

 9. Hanks is a good one..both catching the ball and blocking as an H-back and TE. Washington is a hoss. JB Smith has made some huge catches and is a baller on defense. I think Hanks is the most versatile, so if I had to pick one, it would be him. He reminds me of Frank Wycheck of the Oilers/Titans.
 10.
Go Pirates. And that is the last thing i'm gonna say.
Why do I have a hard time believing that? ;D
 11.

I though I read on here somewhere that Bollinger got banged up against Central. Will he be playing Friday and will he be 100 percent if he does?
Bolinger has been banged up since that Nederland game and has been recovering ever since. Central was the first time he took the field since then and he still ran the ball and did pretty good but was no where near as effective as he was before the injury. I talked to him this week and he said this game he will be a 100% and is looking to make as much noise as he did before the injury so watch out PNG.
Glad to hear he is doing good. Just to be safe though, I think he should sit out one more week. ;) Seriously though, I am glad he is doing better. I hate to see HS kids get hurt, especially in the senior season.

 13. I wonder if they will move Peveto to LB next year. He is a big kid and I thought as big as he was as a soph that they may move him there this year.
 14. badndn..not directing that at you. I respect your opinions...you don't wear the purple glasses when breaking down our team. Its just a lot of my friends are downplaying Vidor like us winning is going to be a cakewalk. Vidor has a lot better athletes than Lum and Quirante does a great job handling the ball. Losing Louviere will hurt, because I expect us to put in an extra LB in place of a DB. It is hard to find the ball sometimes with all the mis-direction and it is hard to simulate this offense in practice. We had WAY too many barn burners last year! I must have aged 10 years in one season. mytwocents doesn't seem like a  bad guy, he just REALLY loves his team ;D! badndn...I agree, I love Vidor homecoming halftime shows. Maybe they will schedule us for homecoming next year, it was great last year.
 15. football04....I think a lot of Indian fans are looking at margin of victory against common teams and our past success  against Vidor. Most PNG fans have not seen Vidor play. A guy at work has a kid on the Vidor team, so I have seen Vidor 3 times and all of PNG games except for Livingston.(I was on vacation and when I renewed my season tickets, they were gone  :'() I saw Vidor beat BC on a Saturday night and they dominated BC.  The score was not indicative of the game. I saw Vidor play Nederland(see above note about tickets). Without boring you with details, Vidor was a few plays from beating them and lost Bollinger for the game early and Quirante got hurt after making a run to Ned's 5 and Vidor settled for a FG. The  third game was Vidor vs Ozen. That game was a knock down, drag out fight and Vidor gutted it out to get the win at the end. The Ozen team that showed up at the Reservation the following week did not play the way they did against Vidor They killed themselves with penalties, turnovers, bad snaps, etc. I still think PNG would have won if Ozen had brought their A game, but it would have been closer. So.....from what I have seen these are two evenly matched teams that play hard, smart and with  lot of heart.  Fans from either team that think this will be a blowout will be surprised to see how close these teams are to each other, even though their offenseive styles are so different. The reason I think we will be able to throw the ball is because we have thrown it so well this year and the size advantage our receivers have against Vidor's DB's. The one thing that concerns me is that we have not been able to pull out  the close games at the end(Crosby,Liv,Ned) and Vidor has(Texarkana,Lum,Ozen). Before PNG fans get mad at me, I am not saying we will lose, I am just saying that this will be a tough game and not to underestimate them. Thankfully, I am sure our coaches and players will not and will prepare accordingly. That is one of the things that has impressed me about Faircloth...he seems to get this team ready every week and we never seem to come out flat. The games he has lost have all been close and not a product of underestimating his opponent or having his boys lay an egg.
 16. Vidor had big leads on LCM and Central and let them score at the end of the game both times. I wasn't at the game, so they may have pulled starters and got scored on. It really doesn't matter. Margin of victory really doesn't matter, the way PNG and Vidor match up against each other and their execution does. Insulting each other leading up to the game means nothing. I am sure the coaches of both teams and the players respect each other and understand how important this game is. I think the offenses of both teams match up well against the defenses. I think Vidor will have success running on our defense and our offense will be able to throw on Vidor's defense. It will come down to turnovers and key penalties, in my opinion. Both teams are playing well, so this should be worth the price of admission. I don't like predicting scores, because of the jinx factor, ;D so I will not make a prediction. One thing is for sure, I will be pulling for Nederland this week. For PNG the easiest scenario is to win out, but having the head to head over Ozen already, them losing can only be a good thing.
 17. Nederland should win out and it won't matter who else does what.
 18. Football isn't algebra. You can't say team A beat team B and team B beat C...so team A will beat team C. It doesn't work that way. It comes down to how teams match up against each other and execution. All this comparison is really a waste of time. I think it will be a great game and I can't wait for Friday night!
 19. Coach Faircloth has said that taking a knee is a soccer thing, not football. A lot of football teams do take a knee during an injury, but he chooses not to do it and he means no dis respect. After soccer games the parents make a tunnel with their arms for the kids to run through, I guess HS football should follow that tradition, too.
 20. Great job Indians! Looks like we are on a roll again, just like last year. Next week should be a good one against Vidor. Great job by our coaches and players.
 21. Congratulations Pirates! I know how much a win meant to y'all tonight and I am so happy for your kids, who must have had an unbelievably challenging week. Looking forward to a good one next week at the Reservation.
 22.
Vidor has some great people that support their team.  We know they will be ready for us on October 28th and we will be ready for them. In the meantime, good luck tonight against the Jags and I am pulling for you guys to honor Matt with the win tonight!
Great post! Good luck tonight Pirates! I hope y'all win tonight for Matt and it helps in the healing process for his family and the Vidor community.
 23. It was a Vidor poster that brought up y'all being poor country folks, not PNG. I have friends and family in Vidor that are anything but poor. Stereotypes are not a good thing. Also, there is no shame in being poor, especially if you work for what you have. Invictus...how has PNG as a school and community continued to slight Vidor? Also, how did PNG prevent you from playing your school song...you know, the year that you can't remember, but has caused deep-seated hate in your heart. I have watched year after year PNG fans give other team's band a standing ovation, only to turn around and have the opposing team's fans sit on their hands while our band performs. I am not a band guy, but from where I sit, PNG has been pretty good at being respectful to other schools when we play them. I have NEVER witnessed PNG interrupt a school's school song, so how about some details?
 24. This thread has become bizarre. Vidor needs to worry about Central and PNG needs to worry about LCM right now. PNG/Vidor will be next week. If both teams don't take care of business tomorrow, they may find themselves with their playoff futures in somebody elses hands. No team wants that...you want to control your own destiny. I have met fans from all the area teams and there are good ones and bad ones, including PNG. To" hate" a school or team, I mean really hate, is ridiculous. Invictus...I have heard that PNG is making plans to honor Matt Thomas next week. Will you still hate us then? My heart has been broken over the loss y'all have suffered in the Vidor community as have fans from schools throughout the area. A little perspective would be nice. PNG fans take a lot of pride in our school and team, sometimes that comes off as arrogant to those who are not a part of it. Most PNG fans are good people, but some take things too far, just like fans of all schools do. Vidor has one heck of a team this year and it should be a battle next Friday. Win or lose, I will be pulling for the Pirates in the playoffs....whether you hate me or not.
 25. Great article. I can't imagine the heartbreak that his family feels right now. I pray that God gives them the peace and comfort that only He can provide at times like these. Hopefully the positive influence Matt had on the Vidor community will produce positive results in the lives he touched. In the midst of this tragedy, many positive things can come from the impact he had in his short time here on this earth. Matt thanking all his teammates after the game illustrates that we need to never take each other for granted and to show our love and appreciation for each other both in words and deeds, for there is no guarantee for tomorrow. I didn't know this young man, but his life and story has made an impact on me and others outside of Vidor. Rest in God's peace young man and thank you for the legacy you left behind for others.
