Dline shut down the run...mostly draws and sweeps, the kept contain and didnt let the backs get to the corner That being said, the secondary is slow...if you get behind the dbs, the home run play is wide open...Elkin's two wide's dropped 3 homerun balls, off of a straight fly route... Im a die-hard fan, but we were very lucky none of those were caught...some bright spots and good second-half adjustments, as usual (when Big Stew gets in their ear), but LOTS to work on! My $.02
2 of those drops were on one possession. They ran the play and did it again a couple of plays later and the kid was open again. We also fumbled the ball inside the 10 which at the time would have built some big mo. I still say an ugly win is still a win and elkins was no slouch. They have 2 kids in dc top 300.
Yeah...I was standing in the end zone under the scoreboard...I watched it first hand...on the first series, #3 missed, then # 6...then on the 2nd series #6 missed again Either way...they exposed our secondary You're right, when mcbride fumbled on the first drive of the 2nd half, that killed us...they were driving!! Good win, nonetheless...Elkins was decent and had some athletes
Its not like you guys played the Longhorns or something...Crosby wont even make the playoffs Im reserving judgement until district for you guys

Don't worry. You only have to deal with us for two more years. Hope your program's turned around by then. By the way, don't like crow, but I will eat up some fried yard bird. Perferably Frenchy's. So have me a 10 piece with 2 peppers and a RED soda after we smash ya'll......................................please !!!!! ;)............................ and coming back on the 2nd string isn't really going toe to toe.ijs
you are a revisionist of history brother.  Humble and SC were tied 14-7 at the half, SC lead.  No one scored the second quarter.  SC scored 14, Humble scored 7 in the third.  both scored 14 in the fourth.  Yall never held a wide enough lead for long enough to put in the second string team without risking a comeback.  QB Sharp played the entire game.  SC accounted for 600+ yards, and Humble had roughly 500+.    This was a very evenly matched game outside of redzone production.    Both defenses were terrible, and both offenses pretty much had their way with the defenses with the exception of humble executing inside the 20.    This game would of NEVER been 70-14 like another poster suggested.  SC was the better team, but not by much at all. and Humble was down right terrible last year.
Did you count how many time Screek took a knee? we took knee at 4yd line, we could have scored right before half but the QB messed up...we were on the 2yd line. and yes we did have 2nd string defense in...
You took the knee because you already up 7 points, and a turnover could mean 7 or 8 in the other direction.  Not worth the risk considering at that point the game was won. (good thing you don't coach). Theirs no need to take high risk, when victory is with in grasp.  And just because you say your 2nd string was in, doesn't change the fact that up until the last 4 downs.... your defense wasn't 2nd string.  that in itself would of been a stupid move, and if thats how your coaches coach...get ready to get reamed.
We lead by 20 plus points, we put our 2nd string in, and they pretty staed in bcuz we knew game was won, plus..we were headed to PLAYOFFS...keep making excuses...score just may be 70-14 this year ;)
The sack on this one..... You would think they're from Dayton or something  ;) Seriously though, don't let the DC Tx Football preseason ratings go to your head...

They had some injuries and got beat by an excellent dayton team. It was a freakin scrimmage. Nederland will heal up and who knows dayton and nederland for the region sounds good to me. Keep your heads up watched crosby last night and they looked very average against a horrible mw team.
We'll see how average Crosby looks when Bulldog fans walk out singing the Cougar fight song. Aston right, Austin left, strike up the band.  Talked to the "reasonable" Dayton fans at work, even one of the kids' dad, and they told me they're bigger but less talented than last year. Hererra's loss was huge. Told me Chambers gets flustered easy and doesn't do well with contact. Nederland just looked slow and unathletic last night. Dayton looked bigger but not as talented as last year. Trying to figure out if you have an unproven qb, an rb who's best year is behind him and no real playmakers on the edges, how Dayton is excellent and Crosby is average? Didn't see the scrimmage, but if they did what they did against St. Thomas it was basically a four play offense and try to keep the twins healthy. All this will be for not Friday night when Crosby's singing GO BIG RED late into the Nederland night!
::)
We're very over rated ..................................... believe that if you want to. The scrimmage was over in the first quater. Don't worry about that air attack, we used today for what it was meant for. 19 4A is in trouble.........
Thats so cute... ::)

The second issue is depth, if we have a couple of injuries we could be in big trouble. Third issue is RB, smaller backs with average speed and an offensive line that's not  getting it done means no running game. If we can solve these issues and stay healthy we will be tough, if we don't we will be in for a fight for a playoff spot.
Oh wait, you forgot you need a QB too.  Not that that's important.... ;) Neither QB was worth a dime....
Dayton's Qube w/ be fine...you just worry about how crowded the parking lot will be at halftime on 10/26 when all the barbie-cue's are leaving with no hope of a 2nd half comeback... ;)

 21. from the PANews, quote from Neumann: There are a handful of other starters who won’t see playing time, with Nederland getting a good look at their backups to see how much depth they might have heading into the season. Not sure whether to be flattered or insulted...
