My opinion will not be popular, but I think he is taking the easy way out. You make promises to these young men, you start to build a program and try to teach them how to be a man - and then boom when things look rough ahead you bail on them. Oh you say I'll make more money - blah-blah-blah but you'll always have issues to deal with.
I remember Groveton growing up was powerful every year. Their program had stability and a coach that cared about more than "having to stripe a field". You think they had down years as far as athletes go? Yea, but their program carried them through. Those coaches are still out there and surprisedly those programs are successful. I think of Coach Hooks (WO-S), Coach Matthews (Vidor), Coach Williams (Evadale) and you could go on and on.
I have no problem with a young coach making some moves early in their career. Oftentimes you have to move somewhere you don't want to be to get a shot at being the head coach. But eventually it would seem that you would want to settle and put your stamp on a program. This just wreaks to me that when things were about to get tough - he just tucked tail and ran. Don't know the guy, and don't have kids in either district. Again, I know this opinion won't be popular but it's my thoughts on the move.

Excellent post, especially bearing in mind that none of our opinions matter a hill of beans to anyone other than those that read this. We have a lot of great teams in our area, and I'd love to see multiple teams representing SETX at Austin when it really matters.

WWBA, 3rd out of 68, and only because rain cancelled our semi-final and we were left where we were seeded.  Best of luck to yall the rest of the way out.  The boys can speak for themselves on the field.  They don't need a dad on here boasting about hypotheticals.  We play who we have scheduled, and I support my son, the team and the coaches the best I can.  Never have said an anti-Kountze word, just not the way I operate.  Hint, those victories were all in tournaments so they were not necessarily facing our number 1 either.
 
And you must work midnights too.  I thought I was the only one awake and posting at these hours.  Stay safe out there on the mean streets.

Is it possible to post pictures?  We had four kids hit five home-runs in a game recently and I took a picture after the game.  I wanted to post it, and tried everything I know (which isn't much), but could never figure it out.  I was just curious if it was possible.

Evadale will honor all veterans attending the game this Friday.  March 28, 2014 at 4:30 pm the Evadale Rebels will face the High Island Cardinals in a district matchup.  Please plan to attend and let the veterans know how much you appreciate the sacrifices they have made.
