  1. I didn't see Kountze show any mercy earlier this season in a 60 pt win. No reason to believe they have changed their style...wonder if the press stayed on till the buzzer again????
  2. FINALLY!...a little tension on the girls board ;D
  3. Losing Bounds does indeed hurt. Poor kid has had his share of injuries. His loss really hurts because he could play ss, 2nd, 3rd, outfield, and pitch. DARN sure hurt the basketball team! I feel bad for the kid, he has a tough recovery ahead. Hopefully he will have a great, injury free senior year.
  4. I've seen Kountze play 4 times. I would describe them in a lot of ways: good outside shooting, good press and overall defense, a couple of good ball handlers, well coached and an all around good team. But I would never classify them as "athletic" compared to the other good teams I've seen, not even close.
  5. Right now it looks like BH will get LCM in the first round.
  6. Here's whats on our schedule for JV, good luck - 2/19 - Northshore 2/26 - Dayton 3/7 - Barbers Hill 3/12 - CE King 3/26 - Crosby 4/2 - new Caney
  7. Stat padding game tonite for BH. Big one Friday nite.
  8. Well...only someone laying an egg in next two weeks or the right match up in a warm-up game will change it! At this point, I think OF beating HJ would be an upset.
  9. Thanks...was just trying to figure that out!
  10. From the Baytown Sun Barbers Hill take over 19-4A lead HOUSTON – Four Lady Eagle players scored in double digits and a 65-42 win over North Forest, coupled with Dayton’s upset of C.E. King, propelled Barbers Hill’s girls to first in District 19-4A. The Lady Eagles are 8-1 in district, 20-7 overall after Shannon Evans and Jasmine Carter each scored 12 points and Chelsea Eppler and Kendall Shaw chipped in 10 apiece. Shaw also grabbed 12 rebounds. Barbers Hill hosts Galena Park Tuesday. ..................BH now in full control of their own destiny. Either win out, or one loss (unlikely) would secure a district championship. BH would most likely play #4 out of the GT district in the first round.
  11. Great stuff, Card, thanks...glad BH is in 4a...3a is going to be stacked with some good talent! BH has Senior Tim Ramsey who will run the 1600/3200. He should be in mid to high 4:30's this year. Not sure of his 32 time yet, but should be under 10:30. Brandon Rivera, freshman, should be at 4:45 or better and around 10:20 by late season. Sean Evans, junior, missed last year with injuries, but is healthy now and targeting 4:50 and 10:35. Not sure what we have for the 800 yet...it's a tough race and not a lot of guys want to put the work into it!
  12. Tyler is a great place to go to school...I went to TJC. I drove by the UT-T campus the other day and is GROWING. Congrats and enjoy!
  13. Who's going to have the top runners (and projected times if you know) in the 3200, 1600 and 800 this year in the GT area? I know BC and Nederland usually bring some good ones, who else?
  14. Rumor was (Of course just a rumor) that Hooks did apply ,but BH picked another coach over him. Oh and the part about the Average Athletes can also be quoted about the coaches as well. I have seen some good talent go through BH that was wasted IMHO. Not going argue that at all...just wanted to make the point that the talent level has historically been tremendously higher at WOS. Hooks is really good, but the athletes he has had to work with have made him great
  15. 10 days from the letter received. So, January 31, after they have chosen a new head coach! So; therefore, the point is moot. This is a circus...the board will catch some seriously bad press if they wait 10 days after the ruling, regardless if that is the rule.
  16. Orangefield lost to Nederland, who lost to Lumberton, who Orangefield beat twice by 20+, who lost to Kountze, who lost to Livingston, who lost to LCM, who lost to Ozen, who lost to Central, who lost to Livingston. WOW! I need to get to work and stop playing around on here. Is there room for a 6 or 7 way tie for 2nd place ?? LMAO! ;D ;D I think a three-way tie for first and a 7 way-tie for second might make the most folks happy! BTW Websters definition of "fluke": a stroke of luck. Can you have a quality loss???? BH lost to the number 5 team in the Nation, Westbury Christian by only 38, ha.
  17. The case for BH: BH defeated Kingwood Park by 6, H-J lost to KP by 3. BH defeated West Brook by 14 and by 21. H-J defeated WB by 3. BH defeated Nederland by 18. H-J defeated Nederland by 12. I'm just sayin' ;D ;D ;D Calm down, Hawks...I'm just having some fun!
  18. Scooped you on this one a few days ago...just go back in the threads, ha. What makes you think he WANTED to coach at the Hill, LOL. Coach Hooks: “It was a great place to grow up and do athletics,†Hooks said. “It was a good town, small, and we won in everything: football, basketball and track. I really enjoyed my stay there.†......sounds like: nice place to stay, but I wouldn't want to coach there ;D Also interesting quote: “The secret for winning football games is to have good players and good assistant coaches,†he said, “and I’ve had both." .....He's had a gold mine of talent at WOS, why would anyone go anywhere else with that. Best a coach has been able to count on at BH is very dedicated, hard-working, but AVERAGE athletes and good parent support.
  19. I was holding my support for HJ as number 1 until they had decisive win against another good team...they dit it and now have my vote ....for a TIE WITH BH ;D ;D ;D ;D
  20. Ozen won't play you, they "won't take a lose to a 3A team before the playoffs" Stinks being in 4a sometimes, the 3a smack talking is much better. I'd love for BH to play HJ, OF or especially Kountze in a warm up, but it would be a no-win situation for us, even WHEN we won ;D Good luck to all you guys in whats left of the season and the playoffs!
  21. Very sloppy, should have won by 25. Lady Eagles looked a little "uninspired" for parts of the game, Crosby took advantage of that.
  22. BH 53 Crosby 43 Very sloppy play by BH but a win is a win.
  23. With CE King's (17pt!) loss to K-Park, BH is now in control of its own destiny. If they win out, they take the District 19 crown outright. One loss would put them in tie for the title at worst. Not sure what happened to CEK, maybe grades or a key injury? Hard to understand why they lost to K-Park so badly. A little early for playoff scenarios, but, looking at the playoff brackets, winning district gives BH a much better chance of getting past the 2nd round. The runner up position would likely have to play Willis in the second round...Willis is probably the strongest 4a team in the greater Houston area.
