Our small poll is a combo of 2A, 1A and private.

4A Division 1 is bad in region 1 I'll say that but even still finishing 4th and making it that far is still a heck of an accomplishment

1. State Championships are not in Dallas. They are in Arlington. It’s the same as saying something like look that Houston team almost beating Longview in West Brook. Or calling WOS a Houston school. Two completely different places. 
2. Houston had its chance to host the state championships a few years ago and the city didn’t show up. In Arlington people show up especially since its neutral for the 2A-4A games and 1A is close for half the schools. Money matters because yes UIL keeps a percentage but a lot goes to he schools playing to help fund athletics. Plus every athlete gets national tv coverage playing in an NFL stadium otherwise only 6A and possibly 5A would get to be on tv. I think a 1A player actually got a D1 scholarship based on the state championship game last year.
3. North Shore agreed to the officials. I can’t recall exactly but it was either they said yes to Dallas straight up or it was a coin flip between Dallas or Houston refs. Both schools said that those were the only two chapters who they thought could keep up with their pace. 
It isn’t some conspiracy to make sure DFW teams win at the higher levels. Houston had a chance to host and the city didn’t even realize the games were there. 
As for this year North Shore will win against Duncanville again. Duncanville maybe on a downturn now that Mathis is back next door but they got this year to win one.   

So some of you truly think that he didn't know or had nothing to do with it (being he was the head coach) When Boise calls to tell you what type of a player you are getting and you still let him on the team (for the sake of winning) is crazy. Then to read the text messages from Art to other coaches, is just wow. I don't care if it was one girl or one million it should of never happened and they dang sure shouldn't of turned a blind eye to it. 

Spring starts today, I think Brian Milton #19 the backup last season will get 1st crack at landing the position.

A Friday afternoon board meeting just about an hour before graduation.  Can anyone say Friday news dump?

I wish the state of Texas could keep these kids in state. We lost the kid from Purdue, guard at Auburn, and many others. I think the post from Duke was from Dallas. If UT, A&M, and TCU could keep these kids home, we would play for a shot at the title almost every year. 

You seem confident it will be a blowout. So set the line and give me Decatur and the points.
No go on Liberty Hill.
 
It’s funny how these slow, unathleitc, half court teams like Brock, Ponder, and Argyle don’t look the part yet seem to keep winning championships.  
Decatur will give Yates/FF a game. I will be shocked if they don’t.

FYI, Decatur beat Odessa Permian who beat Faith Family by 10. Just saying.

Yates is a good team but they are here because Silsbee self destructed in the second half last Saturday.  Oak Cliff is a tested team and have played a much tougher schedule and a postseason that's arguably tougher as well.  The middle is not going to be porous like it was against the Tigers so outside shooting will be critical.  If they are shooting well it's still no guarantee but if they aren't they won't win. 
It's a "career" magnet school (please, I may have been born at night, but not last night!)  against a "charter" school.  I tend to go with the lesser of two evils which is Yates.  But then I'll be pulling for the winner of the Decatur - Liberty Hill game in the final because those schools are from towns.  And 4A schools should be from towns.  One high school districts.  You know?  Like Sour Lake or Bridge City or Lumberton or even Silsbee.

Who can forget Triple A academy a few years back with 5 division 1 kids playing in the 1A division.  Stole a state title from Mumford.  

That’s what I’ve heard (similar to Argyle).  When those type teams take care of the ball and control tempo, tends to really frustrate teams that like to run and gun.  

Faith Family in the UIL state tournament is a joke.  The head coach was the head coach at Cedar Hill and FF offered him 6 figures to come over and allowed him to bring his whole staff.  Guess what...Cedar Hill players followed.  This is why you havent heard from Cedar Hill lately.  It is fitting that FF and Yates have to play each other and a sign of the sad sad state of UIL basketball.  And that is before you get to Madison being in the 3A tournament which is an even bigger joke.  HISD and DISD use their open enrollment status and “magnet programs” to manipulate their enrollments.  FF has about 200 kids in the school.....but 10 of them just happen to be good enough to get to the 4A state tournament?  Please.  It is becoming a joke what all is allowed and a shame.  It is ruining high school basketball.

Faith Family will beat Yates. They are a charter school with kids from all over Dallas. Those kids aren't all from the Oak Cliff area. 

Well Lipan got beat today a little bitter sweet.  However Leggett will be back.   Neches also got beat by Oakwood.   A third place team and a runner up team goes to State in the class A 2 - 4 Regions.  That's unusual.  Great season Pirates!!!!

Not many are going to outcoach the guy on the opposite bench tonight.  Foster is one of the very best imo.  

So if you were the coach of Lumberton, you would try to run and gun with Silsbee? You have to put your team in the best position to win the game. Trying to run with Silsbee isn’t it.
 

Running an offense like Argyle is one thing but standing out at mid court holding the ball is another as far as watching a game goes.  

It’s a mix for me.  I do enjoy fast played games for the most part but maybe the hardest game to sit through for me this season was Yates vs Beaumont United early in the season.  It was a 2 pt game and 190 pts were scored.  But the whole thing was a hot mess that truly resembled an open gym, pick up game.  Up and down the floor, jacking it up at the first opportunity.  It wasn’t even apparent if a single play was run in 32 minutes.  
Conversely, I also appreciate a game where you have a battle of wills and opposite styles battling.   As Jim Thorpe pointed out, that Silsbee-Argyle game was a classic.   And so was the Silsbee-Carter game, which was played completely differently.  
But we live in a highlight reel, mix tape society now and the high-flying, run and gun basketball is what most fans want to see.  

So if you were the coach of Lumberton, you would try to run and gun with Silsbee? You have to put your team in the best position to win the game. Trying to run with Silsbee isn’t it.
 

I’m GUESSING Duane moves on after this year. I don’t see him sticking this out if the cupboard is as bare as everyone is saying. A coach like him won’t have trouble landing in a better situation.
 

They might come out of Region IV because it is generally the weakest region, but I was extremely unimpressed the one time I saw Liberty Hill this year. Silsbee would run them out of the gym.
Decatur is an interesting team who looks to be the favorite out of Region 1. They have a 6’7 or so post that can play, a guard/forward who is solid and they play really solid team defense. Most importantly they play really well together and are extremely, extremely well coached.  I think they had a better team two years ago. They were district champs that year, Argyle finished second and we know how tough they were at the state tournament.  
Anyways, Silsbee/Decatur would be an interesting matchup similar to the matchup with Silsbee/Argyle two years ago.

Meanwhile, FW Diamond Hill-Jarvis has snapped their 77-game losing streak.

Not trying to start crap, but is this how far the Wildcats finished last season in baseball?
