  1. Last year has come and gone. To compare that team to this one is almost as unfair as what happened on the field for most of the 2016 WOS opponents. This is a young team and WOS had a young team in 2015 and we know what happened. I'm not saying they are going to win it all or win squat....no one knows. What last years Kennedale team did against that team means nothing also. It was garbage time let downs that allowed this score. If anything the coaching staff will work to minimize those same letdowns.
  2. No, it was three years. 2001 WOS was 5-5. Along with losing Coach T, we moved to the spread offense and there were some growing pains. 2002 and 2003 had two pretty good teams go 8-2. In my opinion, defense wasn't the biggest problem but it was offense....which stung us even when Coach T came back. We dropped in 2004 and lost somehow (I'm sure some folks would have better insight here) in the first round. 2005 made a good run with Beasley and Earl...and ran into Wimberly.
  3. That dry spell wasn't just Thompson's departure. Those were also the last years WOS was in then 4A and battling the numbers game.
  4. So, would the indoor practice facility only be used during extreme conditions? Practice is to get ready for a game. With the exception all of very few special games, games occur in the elements...rain, SETX heat and hopefully some cold weather. Especially in our area and early season games, you want players acclimated to heat. I don't think I have to worry about WOS making that switch anytime soon. Although, I have enjoyed the indoor playing playing facilities mid December the last three years!
  5. I don't care what college teams play there and when they play there, nor about the price of tea of China. AT&T puts on a big time show!! The fans enjoy it and I am sure the majority of the players that will never set foot on that turf again enjoy it. It is without a doubt the most BIG TIME field in the state.....let the kids enjoy that moment in the sun!!
  6. I agree. The fan involment at NRG was lacking. I enjoyed the short drive to NRG but have enjoyed the atmosphere at AT&T in '14 and '16 more.
  7. Good article on Miller and Hancock. [Hidden Content]
  8. I hope you read something similar after the next game.
  9. I'm not sure how comparable Kennedale and Navarro are athletically. I've only seen Navarro highlights and highlights do not tell the tale. However, I did watch the WOS vs Kennedale game in person. Many of my friends could not go so we talked on the phone at halftime. WOS was shutting Kennedale out but I told them it would not end in a shutout. That this was a dang good team. Both are in their respective divisions semifinal....if Navarro is better than Kennedale, then this will indeed be a dogfight. Kennedale has a monster at LB/DE that I believe is going to Ohio State. Against him and that D, WOS still put up 45. Since this is a message board of opinions.....I think the heavier burden lies on the Navarro defense. If they contain/slow down the WOS offense, then it allows them to keep running. If WOS imposes their will offensively, then it will be a track meet that Navarro can't keep pace with.
  10. I love when someone isn't afraid to step out on a limb and make a bold prediction!! Haha
  11. I'm sure there are some Cuero folks that can attest that WOS is wee bit physical. Navarro runs the wing T offense, that makes them more physical? Same song and basically the same verse. Come the third quarter the ball carriers will be bracing for impact rather than looking downfield.
  12. I do have a question. Many folks argue that a team runs the slot T/wing T etc because that is the type of athletes they have. Has Vidor not had a QB that was able to sling it? I know of several athletes that played DB that also would have been burners at WR. I have many friends that graduated from Vidor and they say the same thing. But that's an outsiders perspective. There have been instances of smaller schools running this offense and winning the grand prize. Someone even mentioned Ennis utilizing it a couple of years ago (talk about a 180 from the 2000 team) and winning state. It seems to me to be short sighted. Yes, if you have a good team, team then you could win district. But it proves difficult to keep up in the playoffs....and I'm talking 5A and above. When the opposing team gets up a couple touchdowns, then the "grind the clock down offense" is in bad shape. Yes, many argue that "we can throw when we have to" but the opposing defense knows that you have to as well. As far as being "brought down down to planet Earth".....we have been there many times. Fans are just expressing their opinions. If we all felt the game would be 49-14 but all came on said "close game, looking for a 21-14 game" then what is the point of having these boards? It would be like the DJ on Fred Clause playing "Here Comes Santa Clause" 24/7 (a little holiday reference).
  13. Goblin, on the previous show they gave you a serious "shout out"(referring to you by one of your screen names on another site)....I don't recall the exact wording but something to the effect of "a Texas high school football historian". Very Nice!! I'm sure you heard the show...but I know that I am appreciative of your work and glad to hear that it has a wide wingspan.
  14. Yeah, that got confusing quickly. Some asking who was hurt and some asking who would fill in.
  15. Yup....well said. A young man thought he could help and certainly has. Regardless of any extra points, like Griff said, he has been instrumental in this teams success. WOS doesn't have to do "mortar kicks" and have the opposing team start at the 40. From the 40, a team only needs a couple first downs and they are in 4 down territory. Someone pointed out that the average starting field position is the 27...huge difference. It is basically making a team march the length of the field against a great defense. With that being said, I have more confidence in our XPs than I have in a long time. Along with the ability to nail a field goal if need be. Many of us are aware of the challenges that this position faces with our team. I applaud both young men for stepping up. So unmmmmm TD....do you have anymore Dallas boys coming up through the ranks?!
  16. No surprises? But this will be the first prolific passing game WOS has faced this year. While WOS has owned the running game it has primarily faced this year.....this will be something new. Yes, this group has been together for a long time and has faced such; but the surprise could be an adjustment period to an offense WOS hasn't faced in a long time. I expect WOS to do well against the Robinson defense. However as the saying goes "There's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip".
  17. Yes. Along with the trenches. Give Jack time to make his decisions and get in the Robinson backfield enough to make Allison uncomfortable.
  18. We usually do wear matching shirts. It is fun when you enjoy a Friday with the one you love and your best friend. I can only hope you get to enjoy the same experience. However, Seeing as how you only wish to insult folks "Education "......i sure hope you make up a most wonderful background!
  19. You feel the need to call out grammar and call folks uneducated.....why don't you tell us all about your education?
  20. Uneducated???? i paid a lot of money for my education(s)....so anytime and anywhere you wish to test me. Bring it
  21. In fact if we all had to spell check/Grammar etc....I would wager that WOSGrad is the guy go to..... However, when folks aren't 100% correct on their punctuation or grammar....as long as they make their point ...he sits idly bye.
  22. This isn't your first post to correct "grammar". I'm glad you feel it your duty to inform folks.....on a football forum. I would bet that there are many that could "out grammar you".....you have been schooled before. I guess we should all spell check and grammar check before mentioning football for fear that Uncle Pig will Check You!!
  23. I listened (endured) this whole game on my way home. First of all, I know it is said often, but hearing some other broadcasts makes you appreciate Gary Stelly even more. Neither team played much defense (obviously). I really don't recall Robinson having but a couple sustained drives. Most were very quick scores including their first of the game for 99 yards. It sounded like a broken record "Allison with all kinds of time to throw....finds a wide open receiver". Caldwell did grab a lead in the third quarter on a pick 6. Caldwell came into the game averaging 25 points per game on offense and managed to more than double their usual output. I did hear them say that the center was a freshman. I don't know if he has been playing all year or was filling in. I am sure he will get to know Mr. Turner-King in short order. It will be nice facing a passing team. As far as Robinson having film to study....there isn't much out there this year of WOS defending the pass.
