Unfortunately this is a way of life for most inner-city schools.  I did not realize this completely until I started working at Alief Hastings.  Last year when we traveled to Aldine, we averaged about 10 fans and most of those were coaches' families.  This year we didn't have to travel as far, so we averaged about 20.  Some reasons behind this, (actual experience), : no vehicle - only travel by bus or cab; homeless; only parent working two jobs; no babysitter; living without a parent; parent just doesn't care (rather be doing other things).  The last one really bothers me but it is the smallest percentage of reasons (in my experience).  No matter what the reason, it is sad for the kids who bust their butt all year for the team. One game in Aldine last year, the coaches' families were the ONLY fans there.  They all sat through the rain and when the game was over, ALL of our players went to the stands and thanked them for supporting them.  Most of the wives and daughters either cried or tried really hard not to.

Great post 9. Agree 100%.  I can't believe how much things have changed in school and athletic discipline in my 23 years of coaching.

Foster is where Andy Martel is going to school.  They should be very good this year.

I am not sure how that started but I can assure you that I am staying at Alief Hastings. i just moved my family down here and would not move them for any reason. I would not have a problem working for Jason anytime. i really like where I am right now.

Samantha Show and Kelbi Fortenberry are killing it!!  East Bernard will be facing their toughest test yet versus Natalia who is 30 - 3.  Show is hitting .867 and Kelbi is hitting .813 in the playoffs!!
Show has given up 1 run(unearned) in 5 games! 4 hits and 64 K in 30 innings! 3 hits came versus Danbury.    

I like what I have been hearing from the big time pitchers.( Nolan Ryan) They believe that the biggest problem is a pitch count that babies the pitchers.

I don't even try to pretend to know what will happen in court.  I do know that when I have been hired at a school, I always get a letter of intent to hire immediately and then wait for the school board meeting to approve the contract.  Without the LOI, I do not know how the lawsuit will end up. This must be the new list after the Plez hiring.  Jason Speights is missing from this list.  He would be an excellent choice.  I work with him at Alief Hastings currently and I know that he applied the first go around.
